Rite Aid - rude/poor customer service representative and supervisor.

I went to my neighborhood location to pick up a bottle of dry shampoo. There was a 13oz bottle marked as on sale for less than two dollars (before tax) when the lady at the register rang me up she said my total was thirteen dollars and some change. I explained to her that the bottle had been marked as being on sale. She asked me what the sign said and I told her "$1.74 or something like that". She called for the supervisor to check the price. While the supervisor was checking the price the lady at the register says "I doubt it said $1.74" to which I replied "it says a dollar and something cents".
Many minutes later the supervisor returned with the sale tag in hand explaining that it was for the smaller travel sized bottle by the same brand. I replied "so the sign was just in the wrong place?" (hoping that I could purchase the smaller size).
This is where things get frustrating. Her response to my question of "so the sign was just in the wrong place?" was as follows...
"no, we didn't sign it wrong. It's being discontinued, so we dont have it." (in rude tone). This response makes no sense.
If you dont have it, because it's being discontinued, why do you have a sale sign for it? On your shelf? On the bigger size? Covering the actual price of the big bottle? Nothing about her response made sense, she was rude, the cashier was rude, and after all the rudeness she couldn't even accept that a simple mistake had been made on their end regarding the sale tag. Instead she chose to treat me as though I had made a mistake by shopping there. The least she could have done was honor the price on the sale tag that had been hung on the bottles in order to show good faith in customer service. Or even just give a reply that makes sense. Instead she was rude and did not take responsibility. I returned to the isle, grabbed a travel size bottle of a different brand, and left.

The store manager doug is a very nice man who always offers above and beyond customer service. Unfortunately I did not catch the name of the very rude lady that did not do the same today.
