March 15 2024
I just spent 12 hours in the emergency department and my last medication given in the emergency department was around 3 am. The doctor sent a prescription to the Rite Aid of my preference at around 6 am. I waited a half hour after Rite Aid opened so I could pick my prescription up and was rudely told I wouldn't be able to pick my pain medication up until after 12 noon and the reasoning behind that is because it's a controlled medication. To me this is a horrible way to treat someone who was prescribed a medication to relieve serious pain. Now I have to wait an additional 4 hours on top of the 6 hours since my last dose. This is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate it if this rule or system be changed for those that were prescribed medications from an emergency department, and an apology for rudeness would due fine as well.
