After the recent weather event in Texas (February 2021), I needed to clear the water lines to my dishwasher. I decided to fully clean the interior as well. The stainless steel perforated bottom pan was lined with a rubber gasket and contained a rubber O ring, both of which had totally disintegrated with years of use. The deterioration of the rubber sealing mechanisms of this particular part was entirely predictable but when I tried to buy the part from GE parts and other vendors, it was NO LONGER AVAILABLE. Other parts to the dishwasher are available but this integral part is not, thereby rendering my otherwise working dishwasher unuseable. Because I cannot get this part, replacing the unit with a comparable GE dishwasher will cost me $900-$1000.
GE should not discontinue parts that will predictably deteriorate over time with use (rubber sealing mechanism in a heated environment), causing a consumer to purchase a whole new unit.
I would appreciate help in locating this part #502 or receive some significant discount I the purchase of a new dishwasher.
