Today, I was unjustly fired from my seasonal position as a Sales Associate due to false allegations being brought up against me by my department manager. I read one of the rules of Macy's, and it said that employees even shall not be subject to any form of profiling. The other day, I noticed my associates wearing crosses and other religious symbols, so I asked if I was allowed to wear my atheist pendant, because I as well wanted to express myself through a symbol. However, no one took the simple question of: "Would it be okay if I wore this?" well as pretty much the majority of my coworkers and my manager as well as the Human Resources manager took offense to this. I was later falsely accused for attacking and question a coworker's religious beliefs when I never did and only asked if I was allowed to wear the pendant. Today, I was fired because my department manager brought up false allegations that I said to a customer (I don't interact with customers at all unless I am selling something to them or taking an order, or returning etc) that I hated Jesus even though those words NEVER slipped out of my mouth. I tried my best to explain that none of these allegations were true nor were they accurate, yet they turned a blind eye and deaf ear to my defense and fired me. I walked out of the store in total and complete frustration knowing that I was truly discriminated against for being an atheist just for asking the simple question if I could wear my pendant to work since everyone else is wearing crosses and their religious symbols with no questions asked and no problems, but as soon as I asked if I could wear mine, everyone goes crazy and I lose my position. The department manager is Becca and the Human Resources manager is Jessica.
