I purchased 4 new tires (Mavis All Season Highway Tour) on 10/15/2020 for my 2018 Elantra. Within miles, I heard a very loud roaring sound from the right side of my car. I went back to Mavis the next day and told them about the sound. They claimed my passenger front wheel bearing was worn and I needed it replaced at 61, 000 miles. I unknowingly trusted their judgement and agreed and was charged $538.13. Then, they claimed the sound may still be there and I will need the rear passenger bearing replaced as well. The sound was still as loud as ever. This was a red flag. I took my car to Manasquan Auto Diagnostic in Manasquan for a vehicle inspection. They told me that #1. Mavis put high performance raceway tires on my car and that was the sound I was hearing. #2. Those tires were not for a small sedan. #3. They listened with a stethoscope to my wheels and heard nothing at 80 mph on the lift. They assured me I did not need a wheel bearing and should not have had one to begin with, but I needed the correct tires. At the recommendation of Manasquan Auto Diagnostic, I contacted Mavis about the tires and they agreed to put on Hankook Kinergy PT tires. As soon as they did, the sound was immediately gone. I asked the manager, Scott to ride with me in the car to hear if the sound was gone. He refused. I want to be reimbursed, REFUNDED, for the $538.13 for the wheel bearing that did not need to be replaced.
They refuse to refund my money and still think I need an additional wheel bearing for my rear tire. They took advantage of me as a woman, charging me for labor and parts that did not need to be completed on my car.
