Life Time Fitness - GM Harassment

To whom this concerns,

I have a been a member of the Lifetime Fitness in Mount Laurel, New Jersey since it’s opened 8 years ago.

Recently the clubs GM, Drew May has been cracking down on the size of gym bags on the gym floor, which I support 100%! When MR. May began his enforcement of reduced sized gym bags used on the main floor I was approached by one of his employees who informed me my book bag would no longer be acceptable to use on the gym floor. I had no issues, I went out and purchased a much small 17L cross body sling bag. I had used the sling bag for months, and last week I was approached again by one of MR. May’s employees who informed me my sling bag was not acceptable to be on the gym floor, however I could use it for the day and then proceeded to give me a Lifetime branded adjustable strapped clinch bag which is 18” tall x 13.5” wide (see pictures below) and said this is what’s considered acceptable.

I had a clinch bag of my own that I chose to use instead, which is nearly the exact same size as the one Mr. May’s employee handed me 18” tall x 15” wide (see picture below tan bag).

Today,8/31/2023 Mr May approached me about my clinch bag and told me that it was unacceptable to be used on the gym floor. I ignored Mr May, because my personal bag was no different than the bag his employee gave me days prior, nearly the exact same size with adjustable straps. It was packed with a half gallon yeti, an 8” leather power lifting belt, knee wraps and lifting straps.

Shortly after Mr May approached me on the gym floor I get an email from him as if he’s reprimanding his child. For the amount of money I pay for my daughter and myself and being a founding member I certainly don’t expect to be spoken to like that. (See email below) Additionally, Mr May is attempting to create a false record by stating in his email there will be no backpacks on the gym floor…I did not have a backpack on the gym floor, and him stating that my account is notated as being warned multiple times by members of his team…I would like to know who warned me, and when these warnings took place?

If Mr May is going to harass me over my personal clinch bag that is 1.5” larger then the lifetime bag he’s handing out then I will certainly make more “noise” about this publicly.

Also, the bag Mr May is handing out (shown in the picture below) doesn’t conform to the corporate standard for all clubs a 12”x16” clinch bag.

I would appreciate someone to contact me in regards to this issue and how I was treated today.

I can be reached ANYTIME [protected]
