Military members do not sign a contact with golds gym. I was told when i signed up that should i deploy or PCS my account could be frozen or terminated. When i was tasked to deploy i took a copy of my orders to Golds gym and was told my account would be terminated with in the next 30 days. Two months later i called Golds gym from Afghanistan and was told that i would have to contact corporate management because it was a corporate issue. I emailed the corporate office everyday for 30 days and never got a reply. I called the regional office inn Jacksonville and was told that even with orders Gold gym does not cancel or freeze contracts and that while they appreciate the freedom they are still a business and receiving payment on contracts even if the gyms are not used is their priority. It is my advice to any military member or supporters of the military that you not open a membership with Golds gym, find a gym that will work with you should you be called to defend freedom abroad.

I have suspended my membership twice for many months. You still have to pay your contract, but the end date will be extended by the length of the suspension. Just because your membership is suspended doesn't mean the payments are. In this case they aren't actually depriving you of anything. Imagine if you paid the membership in full and then deployed, they wouldn't pay you BACK... But they would give you back the time you couldn't attend, as long as you arranged a suspension.
