H&R Block / HRB Digital

On the 2nd week of March 2022,I called H&R Block to drop off paperwork to file for tax extension for 2022, as I have done every year. Was told to take to the office at 623 S. Silver Springs Road in Cape Girardeau, Mo Office # 22543, as that is where my tax preparation pro was working out of. (Tonya Poppen). I went to office and 2 girls at reception desk, gave them envelope with information needed and let them know I needed to see Tonya to have her file extension. Was told she was out ill (She was in hospital very serious, as I was later told) The girls took my envelope marked with name and file tax extension for 2022 and put in an H&R Envelope, told me they would get it to tax person. I told the girls they needed to collect a partial payment from me, as I had always had to pay down in previous years and they said I did not. They had me sign a document as proof I dropped this off. Tonya nor any of the other tax professional ever got my documents, nor was an extension ever filed. I have the H&R Block envelope that has my name on it and for instruction block was written 2022 extension, by one of the H&R block employees. The staff at the other location 2136 William St. Ste 195 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. have all talked to me and are trying to figure who's handwriting is on this and did not give to appropriate person to get this filed. I now owe a penalty for not having it filed. An H&R Block employee did not follow through with this and I feel H&R Block should be held accountable for my penalty I will be getting. I was not aware of the non filing until I made appointment with Tonya. She said at that time she was in hospital in serious condition and has never gotten the file or know who had it and why another tax prepared did not handle this. I would like to hear back of this matter as soon as possible.
