On Sunday, my 37 year old deaf daughter and husband went to the CVS store on 4101 telegraphs in Bloomfield hills to get their third covid shot. The lady pharmacist named Diana discriminated against my deaf daughter. (the pharmacist) Diana was standing in back of plexiglass and distanced six feet from my daughter. My daughter asked her to either take her mask down or write down what she was saying. Diana not only refused to do both, she was blatantly rude about it. She kept shoving the paper work at my daughter, stating she didn't have to do that. My husband who is hearing witnessed the entire thing. Our daughter said she felt very threatened by these gals actions. When Diana, refused to take mask down or communicate by writing she gave our daughter no way to communicate, that is discrimination blatantly. In essence, she was saying you are not worthy of me answering your questions concerning medical issues about your health or procedures. I want to know how CVS handles discrimination cases, as that is clearly what happened here. That employee was terrible and needs to be taught how to work with deaf individuals and sensitivity training. My husband thinks she should be fired as she is terrible with people. We are so tired of this happening to our daughter. I am sending this to our governor in Michigan and your CEO, as CVS needs to treat deaf people correctly. You have accommodated other handicaps, learn how to accommodate the deaf people. Shame on CVS. (just so you know, a male pharmacist stepped in and did the correct thing. He was good)
Desired outcome: an apology from DIANA and CVS trains their staff to handle deaf people Occurred at CVS 4101 Telegraph Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
