Wells Fargo - Debit card

I called Wells Fargo main information phone number and asked, "If I open a debit account, will I have immediate access to my funds?" I was told that I would.
Then I called the local Wells Fargo branch, 10678, and asked banker Joan Titsch the same question. She assured me I could use the card instantly. I made an appointment for 2:PM today.
I drove to Wells Fargo branch 10678, met with Ms. Titsch. I told her I wanted to transfer funds from my other bank to open the account with Wells Fargo. I gave her a voided check so she could initiate the money transfer. She gave me back the voided check and said I would need to make out another check with all the information on it, which I did.
Before signing any documents, I asked, again, if my funds would be available immediately. Again, Ms. Titsch assured me access would be instant.
After leaving the bank, I went to a fast food restaurant located next to the bank and tried to use my new debit card. It was declined. I went back to Wells Fargo and asked a teller why the card was not working. She relayed the question to "Nick, " who told me, "Well it's active immediately, but you can't actually use it until we process your check tomorrow." Check? I asked for the funds to be transferred directly from LCNB to Wells Fargo. This is 2020, not 1920. Wells Fargo accepted a $1000 deposit from me, then
wouldn't let me buy a soft drink.
I was specific when asking about access to my funds, and I was either lied to deliberately, or mislead through carelessness, and I'm not sure which is worse in a financial institution.
But I am sure about this. There had better not be a $35 overdraft fee for the attempted use of that debit card at Arby's.
