HomeGoods - Store customer service

I went into your Tracy, CA store and attempted to return a defected item and because I didn't have a receipt and only one of the items had the tag on it, the sales rep stated she could only take the one item back. I didn't want the items to be dealt with separately, so I I ask to speak to the manager, so she could see they were the exact same item The manager, (Joanne-Coordinator) came to the front of the store, she immediately, became defensive and pushed the items towards me and said if you don't have a receipt, we are not taking those items back. You went on to say, that the items were old I told her I purchased them in July or August and the soap dispenser was rusted inside because the soap keeps coming out brown. I was trying to tell her the product was defected, and the other one was broken. But she was humiliating and disrespectful. The customers started looking, because she kept repeating, "we are not taking them back, they are old." She was really trying to provoke me, and, in my opinion, it was racial profiling, and trust me as 59-year-old black women, I know what it looks like, and what it feels like. She might as well had called me a "[censored]" because her demeanor and behavior towards me was blatant. I teach an anger management class and I had to use every tool of self-control I have ever learned in that moment. To make matters worse when I asked if she was the store manager she said, "I'm the manager tonight" I asked for the mangers name, and she said Lisa, but could not tell me the last name. As I attempted to walk away, my cousin came in the store, and I told her to help me stay calm because the managers demeanor was racist. I told her the manager had an attitude, then the manager put her face towards me to say, "I do not have an attitude, the items are old, and we can't resale those items." I said, I don't care if you can resale them, they are defeated, I want to return them, she was insistent that she was not taking either one back, even though one still had the tag on it, (unlike the young lady that was originally helping me). As we were talking, my other cousin walked up and I told her some of what happened and the manager came out from behind the register (still provoking me), and walked up into our conversation, which was away from the register and said, "ma'am" I'm telling you,... I cut her off, and said, you should keep walking. All 3 of us were embarrassed and people were looking at us as if we really were "[censored]s" and she wanted us to leave the store. So, I left the store, because I needed to gather myself, because I had not experienced disrespect in that that store ever. It was a $35.00 return, that could cost Homegood $35,000.00 with a manager behaving like that towards customers.
