Budget Rent A Car

Bait and switch,

We rented a vehicle to drive home from San Francisco to Redding CA on April 23, 2023. We made the reservation online and the website stated there were 8 vehicles available.

When we got the rental office, we were informed there were no vehicles available. But we could wait. I asked if the wait would be minutes or hours and was informed it would be hours.

BUT, if we were willing to 'upgrade' our rental, we could have a car immediately. We ended up taking the 'upgraded' rental at an additional cost of $30. Doesn't seem like a massive amount, but then we were double charged for insurance of $13. Once by priceline and once by budget.

This is why car rental companies, IE budget have such a bad reputation.

I could do a chargeback with my american express and they'd remove the charge, but then I'd never be able to rent a car again.
