On April 8, 2019, approximately 9am, I completed my grocery shopping and headed towards the front of the store to find an open check out lane.
The only lights that were on designating open lanes were Self Check Out Terminals. There were no lanes open with a person to greet and scan my order.
There was a small line, perhaps 4 people. I was the only one who had a substantial amount of groceries. The others were holding their items or had a few laying in the top part of the cart.
One lane opened up. I asked the attendant if this was the only way to check out and she said yes. I stated I I wasn't great at scanning myself out, not a big fan. She was very nice and said she would ring my order; and she did. She scanned and bagged my order and moved on to the next person needing assistance.
My complaint is, why doesn't Ralph's have one lane open with a person? Last summer I had few items which included a bottle of wine. There were no lanes open and a customer can't checkout with alcohol in the self check out lane. This was around 9am as well.
To be honest, I prefer to have one of the checkers ring me out. They're always courteous and pleasant! To ring my basket of groceries, bag them and load them into my cart is double duty. Albertson's took out their self scanners.
