I purchased a monitor and extended warranty through Fry's and I was told if the monitor failed within 5 years they would replace it for free, and if they didn't carry that product anymore, they would replace it with one of equal value. I purchased a top of the line monitor which cost $380.00 and a 5-year protection plan which cost another $70.00. The monitor failed and Fry's sent the monitor someplace to have it repaired, but Fry's said it couldn't be repaired. So they offered to replace it with a smaller and cheaper $150.00 monitor as they didn't carry the original monitor anymore. I told them this seemed unfair and I asked for a better monitor, and the same size as my original monitor. They refused. I then asked for a refund so I can get a replacement someplace else. They refused and offered to give me store credit of $150.00. I am very upset how Fry's ripped me off. They sell allot of these protection plans which is like free money to them, and on the rare occasion they have to honor it, they do everything they can to give you as little as possible.

Read your mouse print in the terms and conditions. If it reads fair market or depreciated value of your product if replaced you're cooked. If it reads replacement is equivalent to original purchase price, then you have a case. If you accept the $150, you accept the deal. Otherwise, fight it in small claims court if your terms and conditions are on your side.
