TV Tropes TV Tropes: A Comprehensive Resource for Media Enthusiasts

TV Tropes is a website that is chock-full of information about the various tropes that are used in media. Whether you're a fan of movies, TV shows, video games, or anime, you're sure to find something that interests you on this site.

As someone who isn't particularly into anime, I find that the site can be a bit overwhelming at times. There are so many examples of anime tropes that it can be hard to find information about other types of media. However, I do appreciate the fact that the site is so comprehensive. If you're a fan of anime, you'll definitely find a lot of useful information here.

Personally, I mostly use TV Tropes for video game tropes. I find that the site is a great resource for learning about the various storytelling techniques that are used in video games. Whether you're interested in RPGs, platformers, or first-person shooters, you're sure to find something that interests you on this site.

One thing that I do wish TV Tropes had more of is examples that I can relate to. As someone who grew up in the 90s, I would love to see more examples of tropes that were popular during that time period. However, I understand that the site is constantly being updated, so hopefully more examples will be added in the future.

Overall, I think that TV Tropes is a great resource for anyone who is interested in media. Whether you're a casual fan or a hardcore enthusiast, you're sure to find something that interests you on this site. So if you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend giving it a try!

TV Tropes Exploring Storytelling Techniques: A Review of TV Tropes

TV Tropes is a website that is all about exploring the different tropes that are used in various forms of media. It's a great place to go if you're interested in learning more about the different storytelling techniques that are used in movies, TV shows, books, and more. However, there are some issues with the site that you should be aware of before you dive in.

One of the biggest issues with TV Tropes is that the moderators can be pretty harsh. If you don't agree with their opinions or the way they run things, you might find yourself banned from the site. This can be frustrating, especially if you were just trying to help out by contributing to the wiki. Unfortunately, this is just the way things are on TV Tropes, so you'll need to be careful about what you say and how you say it if you want to avoid getting banned.

Another issue with TV Tropes is that it can be difficult to contribute to the site. There are a lot of rules and guidelines that you need to follow if you want to add content to the wiki, and it can be easy to accidentally do something wrong. If you do make a mistake, your contribution might be rejected, which can be discouraging. If you're looking for a more user-friendly Tropes wiki, you might want to check out Tropedia instead.

Overall, TV Tropes is a great resource for anyone who is interested in learning more about the different storytelling techniques that are used in media. However, you'll need to be careful about what you say and how you say it if you want to avoid getting banned, and contributing to the site can be a bit of a challenge. If you're up for the challenge, though, TV Tropes is definitely worth checking out.

TV Tropes Review: Recent Changes and Issues with Tvtropes.com

Tvtropes.com has undergone some changes recently, and some of them have not been well-received by the community. The new format can be difficult to navigate and read, which can be frustrating for users who are used to the old layout. Additionally, the owners have been pushing for users to buy an ad pass, which has caused some controversy.

One of the biggest issues with Tvtropes.com is the behavior of the main moderators, Fighteer and Nombretado. Some users have reported that these moderators target certain tropers and pick on them, which can create a hostile environment for some users. This behavior has caused some users to leave the site and look for alternatives.

Another issue with Tvtropes.com is the presence of viruses on the site and in the ads. Some users have reported that they have gotten viruses from the site or from clicking on ads, which can be a serious problem for users who are concerned about their computer's security.

Finally, the departure of Fast Eddie has been a blow to the Tvtropes community. Eddie was a beloved member of the community and his absence has been felt by many users.

Despite these issues, some users have found a new home on the Tvtropes fork, which is said to be much better than the original site. However, the original Tvtropes is losing users as a result of these issues.

TV Tropes TV Tropes: A Fun and Useful Resource for Media Creators and Fans

TV Tropes is a really great website that provides a super fun service - and it's totally free! It's not just for people who like to waste time, either. If you're a writer, game designer, animator, or any other kind of media creator, TV Tropes can be a really useful tool. I like to browse TV Tropes when I'm bored or when I want to see my favorite games and shows from a different perspective. It's really cool to see how different tropes and themes are used in different media.

One thing I really like about TV Tropes is how easy it is to navigate. The site is really well-organized, and it's easy to find what you're looking for. The pages for popular media are really detailed and informative, and they often include lots of pictures and examples. I've included some screenshots of a TV Tropes page to show you what I mean. (Just keep in mind that pages for less popular media might not be as detailed, since there are fewer people working on them.)

Overall, I think TV Tropes is a really great resource for anyone who loves media. It's fun, informative, and totally free. If you haven't checked it out yet, you definitely should!

TV Tropes TV Tropes: Ignorant, Unprofessional, and Rude - A Review

TV Tropes is a website that is supposed to be a fun and informative place to learn about the different tropes that are used in TV shows, movies, music, and videos. However, my experience with this website has been far from enjoyable.

Firstly, the people who run this website seem to be completely clueless about certain things. They think that people with certain surnames are automatically white, which is just ridiculous. They also seem to think that the word "bro" is a white slang term, when in fact it has Latin origins. It's frustrating to see such ignorance on a website that is supposed to be informative.

Secondly, the moderators on this website are incredibly rude and unprofessional. I was banned from the website for seemingly no reason, and when I asked for an explanation, I was ignored. I have never broken any rules on this website, and yet I was still banned. It's clear that the moderators on this website are not doing their job properly.

Finally, the way that I was treated after being banned was completely unacceptable. One of the moderators referred to me as a "ban evader" instead of addressing me by my name. This kind of disrespect is not something that I have experienced on other websites, such as Twitter, Instagram, Debate.org, or YouTube.

In conclusion, TV Tropes is a website that is not worth your time. The people who run it are ignorant and unprofessional, and the moderators are rude and incompetent. I would not recommend this website to anyone, and I hope that the CEO takes a good hard look at the way that his website is being run.

TV Tropes TV Tropes: A Shadow of Its Former Self - An Elitist, Hypocritical, and Stagnant Site

TV Tropes, or as I like to call it, vanilla TV Tropes, used to be a place where democracy reigned supreme. The site was all about exploring patterns in the media we consume, and it was a fascinating concept. Back in the day, I even contributed to the site by creating entries for a few tropes, including Savvy Guy Energetic Girl and Monster Allies. But then the dark ages came.

The admins started banning users left and right for arbitrary reasons, including something as simple as a grammar error. This was especially frustrating because the site was built on something called Wiki Magic, which meant that anyone could edit and fix mistakes. But the admins didn't seem to care about that. They just wanted to flex their power.

Things only got worse from there. The admins started renaming tropes into more generic titles, which undermined the whole point of the site. And they continued to ban users for no good reason, claiming that their opinions were invalid. They even dismissed other sites as inferior copies, which was just plain rude.

But what really got me was the hypocrisy. The admins and key users claimed to be democratic, but they were anything but. They were elitist and dismissive of anyone who didn't agree with them. And they wanted everyone to be happy all the time, which was just unrealistic. It created a stagnant, unstable environment that was intolerant of different opinions.

And if you think the site holds itself to high standards, think again. Just look at the Game Breaker page for Kid Icarus Uprising. It's long overdue for cleanup, and there's an example on there that's just plain wrong. It claims that all three powers can be used simultaneously, which is not possible due to technical details. This is just more evidence that the site's standards are failing.

In short, TV Tropes has become a shadow of its former self. It's unlikely that the needed reformation process will ever happen. The site is too set in its ways, too unwilling to listen to feedback. It's a shame, really, because the concept behind TV Tropes is still fascinating. But until the admins start treating their users with respect and listening to their feedback, I won't be holding my breath for any real change.

TV Tropes TVTropes Moderators: Corrupt, Unreasonable, and Lazy - A Warning to Potential Users

I've been a user of TVtropes for a long time now, since its early days. At first, it was a fun and disorganized place, like a Wikipedia without all the strict editing rules. It was a great place to find lesser-known things like webcomics or web videos that you couldn't find on Wikipedia. However, over the years, there was a management shift, and they wanted the tropes to be more coherent. I was down with that and wanted to help where I could. But then came the overly strict rules.

Not only would they punish you for misconduct, but they would also punish you for grammar. Yes, you read that right. They implemented a rule that if you have continuous bad grammar, they'll mark that as a demerit against you. You get three, and you say goodbye to your account. Apparently, they think you're deliberately doing that and just want to get you out of the way as fast as possible. And it's not just that either. Did you do something by accident, like start an "Edit War" or have a trivial disagreement with another user? Do you get a warning and an explanation of what happened first? Well, that would be what a sensible mod does. But with these folks, instant demerit! They don't care if it was unintentional; you broke a rule and must be punished!

Sure, you can agree not to do it again, but that demerit isn't going to go away. You're marked until you either get two more demerits (deliberately or by accident) before you get booted, the site goes down, or someone with brains takes over the operation and actually allows people fair chances without acting like one-and-done-rule-break totalitarians.

But surely you can talk to them in a reasonable manner. Nope! They have their heads up their butts and think they're too important to listen to what you have to say. They will often twist your words to justify why they are right rather than seeing if the problem warrants such severity and reacting accordingly. Try to ask them for help with something? Nope, you "don't get it" and are banned. If you want to keep your account, you have to get on your hands and knees and beg them to do so. Disagree or question them? Well, clearly, you deserve to be bounced for common sense. And you can just feel that smugness behind the computer screen. It's the equivalent of kicking a puppy to them without breaking the law. After all, they run the site, who's going to stop them?

And I'm sure they'll say "Well, it's for the efficiency of the site" or some crap like that. No, no it isn't. This is about keeping their laziness going and keeping their egos satisfied because if they were truly good mods like they claim, they wouldn't keep people waiting two to three days at a time, would actually know what good grammar is rather than trying to force people to write the way THEY want, or really see if something's an accident (they keep tabs on your "crimes" when they suspend your account. And will list them when they bring you in) and if you're deliberately causing trouble or, y'know actually talk to people like they're not criminals. Oh, but you got a grammar tally going, surely you're a troublemaker. And yes, they do send some messages about that, but it isn't until you're brought in they spring that nasty surprise on you to add to your suspension. Ugh!

I'll end with the snapshots and the example of my last days on the site. I got brought in for the aforementioned "Edit War" and "Grammar Tally" (The last of which was in March for the former, by the way). They sent me to a forum on the site called "Get Help With English" where I had to prove I knew good grammar through proxy examples. I tried, but they just seemed to suspiciously keep finding something wrong with my wording (at one point finding an example with nothing wrong about it. I asked, and they never answered me. Good job mods. Nice professionalism there). I went back to the main forum at one point to ask when they'd clear me. They got belligerent with me and told me to go back to the other forum. After a few days, I did the exercise, thought I was in the clear because they were talking with others beyond my post several days after I posted my examples. No sooner than I go back to the main forum to ask them about it, a mod suddenly swoops down and lists some mistakes out of the blue. I complain, they "thump" me and give me a warning. I calm down and just simply ask them if "they can please just tell me when I clear the exercise on the Get Help forums so I don't have to keep jumping between the forums, that's all, thank you" and go back to the exercise... And next thing I know, I'm banned because I wasn't "cooperating". Yeah, I got banned for daring to ask for help like a decent human being, and they were too lazy to see if I had really done the tasks like they wanted.

The final insult came when I tried for an appeal through an email. I explained myself and the situation, tried to tell them it was a misunderstanding. Surely someone there is reasonable... well, I wouldn't be here if that were the case. I got an automated message essentially telling me "Tch, we're too lazy to deal with you, and you're just trash to us at this point. Have fun being unfairly banned." And that was it, my account is forever locked all because I wasn't "cooperating" as they wanted and rightly questioned them. Oh, I'm sure they'll see this and spin it "Oh, he was a repeat offender" or "Wasn't really listening to us". I assure you I was just a simple troper enjoying the site, trying to improve the tropes the best I can (even re-working old examples), never got into any trouble with other tropers for the seven years I was there (the most I did was disagree with one YMMV example, when they didn't budge I just erased the example and went on. Oh, but that was a crime in their eyes they didn't see till now). I never tried to start problems and, if anything, I actually mediated things to keep folks out of trouble. But did they list that while going over my account? Nope, only the negativity, never the positives. What a joke of a system.

I can't stop anyone from joining the site, but I can warn you what you're getting into. Have fun, but be wary of the mods: they are not your friends, they do not care about you in the slightest, are snobby and unreasonable, corrupt as all get out, love to shift the rules to their whims, and always looking for a reason to ban you. And if they get it, expect you to grovel like a dog to them. Also, and this could be paranoid rambling, but I get the feeling they likewise have a hacker on hand too. The reason? I had some proof against their wrongdoing. After I tried for the appeal and sent said proof to them, it mysteriously went missing on my computer after I was denied, and I know I didn't delete it. It would explain how they monitor their security for ban evaders. If so, nice try guys, I got it saved on thumb drives, so screw you.

I do have a message for the mods if they are reading this though: I hope you enjoyed having that laugh at my expense because you can add that to your bad karma, and I will not be shedding any tears if misfortune should happen to your precious site that you can't recover from. Plus, if you have any brains, you'll add a grammar program to the preview if you're that bent out of shape over it. At least you can justify your stupid punishments that way if no one uses it. [censored]es.

[Enclosed are the snapshots from said last day on the site forum experience and the appeal I made with the email. They are not doctored.]

I'm experiencing some challenges with my editing privileges. My account was permanently suspended on June 3rd due to my involvement in an Edit War on three separate occasions. Additionally, I posted appeals despite being instructed not to do so, which resulted in my account being suspended again on July 16th. Unfortunately, my appeals have been repeatedly...
