Insurance sales scam
Sad
Several years ago I was out of work and got a call from ail torchmark. Like everyone else, I was quite flattered because I actually have a very successful sales career and they sounded so earnest. I asked if there was a base salary and expenses on top of commissions, to which I was assured... There was.
I arrived at my "interview" and was directed to a large meeting room where there were 50 or so other applicants. But it was strange because some were dressed in warm-up suits, salvation army suits and stained ties, sweats, ripped up jeans, etc. Sadly, several of the hapless applicants looked homeless. I immediately knew I had be duped and was angry, but decided to see how this would play out.
At 10:30 an immaculately dressed man dripping with diamond rings, man-bracelets and an enormous gold wristwatch came bounding into the room. He immediately took on this "serious" mode and said that we were "the creme' de la creme'' in our fields of endeavor and we wouldn't have been invited there if we hadn't already proven our value. Several times during this rah-rah session he said "not everyone will be offered a position!"
It was kind of funny because now i'm looking around the room at this motley collection of souls. Some looked strung-out, some were missing some or most of their teeth, two of them were holding tight to huge bags which I surmised held their pitiful earthly possessions.
This is duplicity of the worst kind; false hope of a better life. I've seen groups very much like this all my life. They just need bodies... Anyone who is desperate, uneducated, naive, or perhaps simply needed their decimated ego stroked enough to follow through with their schemes.
Don't go and don't let anyone you care about go to one of these "interviews".
People were created to be loved. Things were created to be used. The reason the world is in chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used.

Illegal name change on application
I recently took out an insurance policy on both of my adult children with Globe Life Insurance
and it was approved so now I'm looking over the policy carefully and I discover that I am
not the owner of neither policy because Globe Life illegally changed my name as being the
owner by putting it in my son name. I called Globe Life Insurance yesterday so they can
change it back to me being the original owner of the policy and I was told that I could not
change it because I didn’t have permission from my son to take out this policy, and I
stated that it was not illegal for a parent to take out insurance on an adult child.
The Representative also said he could not give me any information on the policy accept
payment information and I needed to have my son call Globe Life. When I looked at my
adult daughter policy Globe Life Insurance have my son on that policy as owner and I'm
the one who took out that insurance policy as well. I believe this is an attempt to deliberately
keep me from filing a claim in the future for either one of my children because I am the
owner/beneficiary. I was not shown any documentation by Globe Life that I could not take
out a policy on my adult children. Globe Life also need to explain to me why they have my
son as owner on my daughter policy, I asked to cancel the policy and I was told I could not
because I'm not the owner of my son policy. I never put my son on the application as owner
only as insurer and the same with my daughter, I need this resolved because I will not pay on
a policy that is in someone else name because both policies is void due to wrong owners,
Globe Life Insurance has my Credit Card information on file not my son. I have read other
customer complaints on this very same issue but only they filed a claim and didn’t get paid.
He is pretending he has a job for me and that he has seen my resume on line and is trying to offer me a job.
I have been looking for a job for a while and instead of REAL employers, this scam artist from Nigeria, I believe where he must be from, has contacted and is pretending he has a job offer for me. But, fortunately for me, and too bad for the scam artist, I can easily recognize these cheating scam artists by their email and how they write their letters! Here is a copy of what this scam artist has written me:

I received the same exact same email but from a Sinrad Satti... HumanResources-AILC2@tmkrms.com
I have been getting these emails as well. If it was a legitimate offer, the link to their career website would not have tmkrms.com as the start of the hyperlink. The actual insurance company uses https://agency.Some-Name-Of-An-Actual-Insurance-Company.com. I've had three different companies listed and all from tmkrms.com.
My email also said it was from "Ken Matson" but the body of the email had "Ryan Davidson" (I have changed his last name here) in the signature area. Ryan is a real person at the insurance company listed on the email. So why does the email come from "Ken"?
Don't click on any link you don't trust. If you really want a job with a company, find their official website and then locate their career section or direct email address to the company.
No way this is legitimate insurance. I phoned the number offered in the email and got voicemail that belonged to a different name than the email identified. I replied to the email and it bounced back. I visited tmkrms.com and the site's maintenance page is up. Maybe not Nigerian, but definitely not on the up and up, so I regret that they have my name, phone number, county, and email now.
Thank you very much, Jeff. You did a fantastic job of conducting research and graciously sharing your insights in order to set the record straight. Bravo to you, sir! I wish there were more people online willing to invest the time and effort to ensure accuracy in matters that concern readers - vs. "shooting from the hip" with unfounded suppositions.
Have a great day and thanks again!
I agree that they are coming from candidate job searches from Indeed or Monster because the email address they arrived at is the one I use for them. Careerbuilders forces you to use a different email address every time you cancel and then sign-up again and that is a different email address than the ones I got. Careerbuilders sells your info to 3rd parties and that's how I know when it's from Careerbuilders because the email arrives at a different address. I've received some emails where I have to create an account just to unsubscribe. Between the lack of employment search results and this 3rd party crap, I will never use Careerbuilders again. Too bad because they were once a good site many years ago but have gone downhill in a really bad way at least for my job searches. I received 7 of these emails with the domain of tmkrms.com in one day. From my previous exposure to Direct Marketing, this then smelled of a system that people just bought into not some Nigerian scam as they traditionally are attempting to get money out of you. From the quick research I've done so far it's appearing to be more of an affiliate company that has recently done some kind of ad campaign. The biggest identifier of this is all of them have the same domain even though they are promoting different companies. After I did a little bit of digging around I found that tmkrms is associated with Torchmark Corporations which came from the WHOIS information. I know the site tmkrms.com is an affiliate site because when the tab is my browser shows "Join Our Sales" and when I hover my mouse over it, then it shows "Join Our Sales Team - Torchmark Affiliate Companies". This is also in the browser header code which you can see by doing "Ctrl+U". Further down in my search results is a link to torchmarkcareers.silkroad.com which show the Torchmark Corporation logo with social media links. I took a look at their LinkedIn profile. This URL for torchmarkcareers is a subdomain so I looked into who silkroad.com com is. Wikipedia says, "SilkRoad, Inc. is an American multinational human capital management software company. SilkRoad provides cloud-based HR software solutions that enable customers to find, attract, develop, and retain talent." So that just indicates that they are using this site for career development. Within these same search results for "tmkrms.com" is a link to torchmarkcorp.com. At this site you quickly see that Torchmark Corporation is a publicly traded company with the stock ticker of TMK. I discovered all of this in less than 30 mins of investigation so the original complaint being a Nigerian scam is just a shoot from the hip response that didn't look into this at all. Part of the online job search deals with legitimate insurance and financial investment opportunities. I used to get them from AFLAC and now they're coming from Farmers and American Family Insurance and a couple of others that are not so well known. The problem I have with these emails and the affiliate website is that is looks like a scam site and that's because of all the years of these type of affiliate sites that did scam to some degree. I've been interested in Direct Marketing for a long time and have taken part in some of these things where the seller of the system gets rich of of the opportunity given. It's not that the opportunity isn't viable but you make more money selling the idea than the process itself. From my quickie research I can now say that these are legitimate people just looking for a way to earn self-employed independent income in what has become known as the Gig Economy yet the marketing for a publicly traded company as large as Torchmark Corporation is deplorable and hurts these affiliates seeking income generating opportunities due to this. One of the companies that approached me that I had never heard of had a website informative enough for me to understand what it was about. I'm not personally interested in these types of things yet if Torchmark Corporation has any concern for its affiliates then they need to create a much better looking AND informative version of tmkrms.com so that those who may be seeking this type of work won't be put off. It sure would help the recruitment process for sure.
My reply to this email (mine from Paul Leahy) was undeliverable. From my past experience, yes there is a legit company. But if the email was from a recruiter from American Life Ins., then anyone from that company would use company email. Not gmail or tm.ktm whatever. Especially fortune 500's. Even a hotmail or outlook. Scammer have figured out that people will verify if its a real company contact. One scammer I actaully interviewed with did that. But 1st red flag (besides being written in broken english) I was offered reception, admin asst., or data entry...all paying the same wage: $17/hr. Then they demanded I deposit their company ck in my acct. via the atm. It sucks when your really wanting a job!
This is an Email Marketing using monster Resume or indeed. It is not a Scam.
I am not sure why the poster will suggest a scammer from Nigeria will send email about a job. We all get junk mails all the time, and in most cases we junk them. So if this complainant is suggesting they received a job email, why will he suggest it can from a Nigerian Scammer? It could be an email marketing to engage job applicants. The complainant should remove this post because it does not make any sense.
Here is what I received and I just think it is a recruiters Applicant Tracking System working for him:
"I received your resume online and I am interested in having you come in for a personal interview. I am expanding in the area and I am interviewing for both sales positions and management positions. I would like to talk with you about your qualifications"
Because it is a scam. Ever heard of human trafficing? I emailed back and the email wont deliver. Wow shocker. My email came from Paul Leahey. Someone from the real company would have a company email to contact. And a company signiture. They take advantage of people who are desperate for a job. I've actually done an interview with one of these type of scams. They wanted to send me a company check to purchase supplies. Luckily, I called my recruiter at Pridestaff. She had done the same scam. Only she attempted to deposit the check and her bank stopped her. When I told them its unethical to deposit company funds into my personal account and I'd open a business accout. They demanded I deposit it THRU THE ATM into my account.
