Very dishonest/sleazy business practices and poor customer service (I was dealing directly with the owner). I bought and acoustic guitar from the shop, they didn't have a case in stock, owner said he would order it in for me if I paid for it with the guitar. I got home and the guitar was priced $150.00 more and l & m, would not price match and it has been 2 months and the case has still never came in. Avoid this shop I have heard nothing but bad experance from other muscians in the city ower has a reputation of being a slimbag, go to buds or l &m.

This store is awful and the owners are very sleazy. They treat their employees very poorly. Avoid this business!

I have been a customer of the Peterborough for 2 years now. I am a player semi pro and have been building a small recording studio in the north end. I have spent al least 15K in the past year there because of the service and professional class of Sean, Rod and Mitch the guitar setup repair person. I frequent many music retail stores in Ontario and Quebec and USA and can only say the service /knowledge and attention to timely and correct detail I have experienced from the Peterborough Guitar Boutique is top notch. I will continue to support them and the local L&M as I build my studio. If you are a player and a frequent buyer you realize problems arise with delivery, quality, price shop etc. I have found these people to be fair, detailed, honest and responsive.

Having bought several different items there, I have never encountered any of the issues posted above. And when you complain about the price AFTER you find it cheaper elsewhere, that's YOUR problem. Check prices BEFORE you buy, don't blame the store for your laziness. And hey, "tamanu, " why didn't you buy the pedal at Bud's in the first place if it was $20 cheaper? Really?

I know the person who made the original comaint. He got cought steeling from the owner.
The owner even let him work there for an additional fue more months to give him a chance and the guy actually stole again. That's why he was fired.

It would be a start if they had some people working there that know a little bit more than the average Joe does about instruments and amps. Asked them questions and they telling me specs on amps that clearly shows the amp doesn't have so I really don't think anyone of them have a sweet clue what they are selling let alone talking about.

Great store, great staff! Great prices and WILL match the competition. The person who made the complaint is completely lying and obviously has some personal emotional issues.

Don't steal and you won't get fired. Don't get fired and you won't generate false complaints. Don't generate false complaints and you won't get sued. Just sayin'.

I disagree with the initial complaint as well as the negative comments posted herewith. I have purchased a number of items over the last couple of years with absolutely no issue. I have been treated with the utmost respect by the owner and staff; received my goods in perfect condition, and no issues with after market items. I like the Guitar Boutique. I find them extremely knowledgeable in all areas.

My personal experience has always been that they have a good selection of quality inventory and the staff are approachable. They price match and they have some really good deals sometimes. I prefer to give my business to the smaller guitar shops over the mega chains such as L & M or the Internet because I can develop a rapour with the staff and physically use the item I wish to purchase.
I have bought 4 guitars and 1 amp from the Guitar Boutique so that shows my satisfaction with them.
I really do not know how they could be anything but upstanding because the customer interaction is straight forward and any business tries to create a good rep.
In my case I have brought others to the store and they were well treated.
We all need to support the bricks and mortar stores in our neighbourhoods over the massive chain conglomerates (aka the monopolies).

The first time I went to The Guitar Boutique I was amazed with the friendly atmosphere for such a well maintained store and with their sincere interest, not in how they could profit from me, but in how they could help me. They gave me a tour of the store, including the back room which they've renovated so that people can rehearse or decide between a couple of choices in privacy, showed me the latest models and deals and then left me impressed and in peace to play a few guitars, interrupting only once to tell me that I could turn it up if I wanted to... "You're not going to offend anyone here."

I have since returned repeatedly and while still never having made a purchase... Yet... I have still never found Wray or Mitchell to be anything but courteous and welcoming. Ignore the negative reviews, they are obvious ###.

I've been in to the Guitar Boutique many time. Mostly just to browse and check stuff out. I've found they have a pretty nice shop. I've never had a complaint with the customer service or the quality of their stuff. I've bought a number of things (all for fairly reasonable prices, and a few for ridiculously good prices). When I've found a product elsewhere for cheaper (usually after lots of browing online) and called up citing the product and price, they have price matched and brought it in for me. I too suspect there is likely more to the posted complaints than meets the eye. I've found everyone that i've dealt with to be honest, transparent, and genuinely passionate about music. No complaints here.

As a regular (and VERY satisfied) customer of the Guitar Boutique, I suspect there's more to these complaints than meets the eye. I have bought numerous guitars and amps there. They consistently provide excellent, personable customer service served up with the best prices around. Do yourself a favour and find out for yourself. One visit and you'll see what I mean. Or, you can always take the word of anonymous trolls and ingrates who slander their former employer...

Worst music store I have ever been in absolutely agree with above reviews, The owner is the biggest Sleaze ball I have ever meet. This guy will try to take advantage of every customer that he can everyone I know hates this store and the owner (his Son also works there and is a complete [censored] bag as well) I have been in a couple times in the last few months to try gear before I drive up to L and M to buy and the store is always dead. Hopeful this store closes soon or some one else get Fender in the area.

Nice store but they are inept when it comes to customer service. I've asked 3 different people over the past 2 months to put aside a guitar pedal i'd like to use with the guitar i bought from them. They tell me that they can't keep it on the shelf it's so popular, so instead of holding it for me they sell it. The last person i dealt with placed the order on the computer on the weekend and told me they would call me Monday to confirm my request. it is now Friday and I've heard nothing from them even though i called yesterday, Thursday, and left a message regarding the situation.
I'm going to Bud's where they sell the same pedal for $20 less.

Thanks for posting this. As a former employee I was witness to and victim of the owners dishonest and sleazy practices. It is good to see someone bringing this to peoples attention. It is no way to run a business, and peterborough is too small a place to treat our musical community as suckers. I wouldn't buy so much as a pick from theat store, and have gotten rid of everything I bought there for good measure.
