10/24/22: Entered into an agreement with TaxRise (TR)believing they'd faithfully pursue a resolution with the IRS on my behalf. Spoke with Rep. Alfredo - he told me TR "wouldn’t take my case if they didn’t think they could get me a resolution through the IRS': 1). Penalty Abatement (PA) 2). Offer in Compromise (OIC) 3). Currently Not Collectible(CNT) or 4). Partial Payment Plan (PPP) options. I paid a $500 retainer, began their loan process ($8915.39) & worked to upload the financials to their portal; 11/3/22 - Rep. Keelin told me I was "a good candidate for an OIC" & "the amount they would offer to the IRS on my behalf would be $1648.00". Was told to be patient as it would take time to process my case. I patiently waited for SIX months believing TR was working on my behalf (all while paying them $300/mo). I NEVER received communication from TR during those 6 months; 5/24/23 - Rep. Victor told me the IRS DID NOT lower my tax liability & they entered me into a $720/mo payment plan. When I asked the status of the OIC, Victor had no idea what happened with it; 6/26/23 – After a month of persistent phone calls on my part, I FINALLY learned from Rep. Cristian that an OIC was NEVER submitted to the IRS! Additionally, neither a PA, CNT, nor PPP were submitted. I asked for my case to be elevated to a supervisor; 8/9/23:Call w/ Lillian (after waiting over a month & her being a no-show for a call) - she said she'd audited the calls, and that TR should've gathered more documents from me & their communication should've been better. She asked for detailed Y-T-D 2023 financials & for a detailed hardship letter so she could submit a redetermination; 8/22–9/15/23 I submitted 60+ docs to their portal; 9/22/23 – Email from Lillian - "Redetermination was denied." I asked for a refund of the full fees I'd paid & a cnx of the loan. My request was denied twice & instead, I was offered a measly $1,000 refund. I believe TaxRise is a scam & I've filed a complaint with the California Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau.

Desired outcome: Refund my $500.00 retainer fee and the $3,597.36 I've paid in monthly payments to date. Cnx the loan they sold to United Consumer UCFS.
