Frustrating Experience with SquareTrade: Difficult to Use Insurance and Lack of Customer Support
I recently had an experience with SquareTrade that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. While I was able to file a claim online and have it approved, the process of actually using my insurance was far from easy.
First of all, when I needed to repair my dehumidifier, I was directed to a cellular phone store. This seemed odd to me, as I would have preferred to take my appliance to a repair shop that specializes in dehumidifiers. Additionally, I found it difficult to get in touch with a human representative when I had questions or concerns. After hours, it was impossible to speak to anyone, and there was no email address provided for me to send a detailed message and wait for a response.
The only help I received was a constant loop back to the FAQ page, which was frustrating and unhelpful. I was left feeling like SquareTrade didn't really care about my concerns or needs as a customer.
To make matters worse, when my claim was approved, I was surprised to learn that SquareTrade would not be sending me the cost of the item, as they had done in the past. Instead, I was expected to take my dehumidifier to a repair shop and then submit the bill for reimbursement. This seemed like an unnecessary hassle, especially since the repair estimate was likely to be more than the cost of a new dehumidifier.
I couldn't help but wonder why SquareTrade didn't have repair shops where I could bring my dehumidifier in for repair and have the shop get paid directly by SquareTrade. This would have made the process much simpler and less stressful for me as the insured.
Overall, I found SquareTrade's approach to claims to be frustrating and confusing. It seemed like they were making it difficult for me to actually use my insurance, which is the whole point of having it in the first place. I would advise others to avoid companies that don't provide email addresses for customer support, as this can be a sign that they're not interested in helping you when you need it most.
Insurance
I have been paying on phone insurance with SquareTrade for about 3 years. I broke the screen on the phone so I filed a claim on the insurance. I was given a claim number and they assigned a local shop to do the repair. They said that the repair shop would email me the appointment date to bring the phone in. Said it may take up to a day the the repair shop to respond. After 10 days, I called the repair shop and they said that they did not receive the order from SquareTrade. Now I am unable to reach a phone representative to resolve the problem as I was told I must do by the Chat representative. The phone to customer support has been out of order for 3 days. No other way to communicate with them.
your square trade warranty on my tv and remote.
I first called about a faulty Visio remote. Over the phone with a Squaretrade Tech it was determined the remote was bad and we would be sent a new remote. Weeks later we still hadn't received a remote so I called them. They said they didn't have that remote in their inventory so I should buy one myself and mail them the invoice to be reimbursed. I did what they asked and still have not gotten a check. We've had hours of phone time and emails going around in circles. This all started in mid May.
I have sent copies of original warranty plan, cash register receipts, and invoice for new remote. I am totally frustrated at this point and request my warranty charge refunded, $59.99 and my cost for having to go out and buy my own remote, $28.58.
I trust we can handle this matter in good faith.

DRB

I bought a dell laptop (model I14RN1818DBK I52430M) on 12/26/2011, at COMPUSA company, in Orlando, Florida. I also bought a 3-year SQUARETRADE warranty because they assured me it had international coverage.
My laptop has stopped working and I got in touch with Squaretrade, through its employee Brian ([protected]@squaretrade.com) to obtain the authorization to fix my laptop in Brazil. Nevertheless, the company did not find my record, as well, they asked me to send a copy of the purchase receipt, what has been done.
After more than a week, I have yet to receive any information of the company and my laptop is still broken.

Both the recliner and loveseat controls are not working. They will only allow me to file one claim at a time. I had previously filed a claim on the sofa in Oct. 2025 and it took until Feb 10, 2026 to finally get it repaired.
I also filed a claim on my washer in Jan 2026 which they closed without anyone ever contacting me.
I am not getting any help with my warranty TV . I purchased a extended warranty through Square trade. I have called they give me the run around. They keep saying Amazon handles the TV issues and transfer me to amazon. Amazon says that square trade is responsible for fixing or replacing the TV. No one seems to know what to do.
