You download a s a free app and then this app doesn’t even let you scan one document to convert to text without paying. This is ridiculous. Even if the quality is good I would never know because they lure you in with the free app and then you realize you have access to any features.. except converting an image to a pdf… so useful, ha. I could do that on a word doc, what a joke.

I signed up for the free trial and after scanning everything I need, the app crashed. I tried it again, still crashing. Now that I’m cancelling the free trial, it won’t cancel! You better not charge me $6.99 a week from June 6! I screen recorded my cancellation and it doesn’t get cancelled. Cancelled from Apple ID subscription - doesn’t work. Deleted the app since I have the latest iOS, nope! Doesn’t get cancelled either. IT’S A TRAP!

I am writing a negative review because the app is not very friendly and the settings are minimal.

Unfortunately , I accidentally purchased the app instead of selecting the free trial and then tried to get a refund a day later and it was denied. Mind you, I would have still been inside my free trial period.

I am hoping the developer sees this and refunds my money.

Other apps cost a fraction of the price.

Ugh.

Do the right thing.

Surprise surprise it’s NOT free. Well, if you count the 7 day trial ok, but then after it’s rather costly. If your not using this app frequently it’s not worth the price, especially when there are truly free scanner apps available. This app might do a thing or two other scanners don’t but not worth the cost unless you frequently need to take handwritten notes and convert to a “typed” version. Most people today use the keyboard faster than they can write.

You cannot do anything scan related on this app without payment. You don’t even get to test it out.! For anything to scan you have to pay $6.99 a week or do a bundle. That in my opinion is ridiculous Adobe scan, scans all things immediately. Of course it has its things that are asked to be purchased but it allows you to do what you downloaded it for and then purchase if needed. Making a purchase should come naturally a downloader shouldn’t have to feel forced to buy something.

I’ve gone through 3 printers now trying to get them to scan and email my basic paperwork. Something always goes wrong with either the net work, the software, or hardware, and I can’t get what I want achieved. I get so frustrated! After spending so much money on these printers. What a blessing this app has been! It is so convenient to be able to simply take a picture of a paper I received in the mail, for example, turn it into a PDF document and email, text, or just save it to my files on my phone. This app is definitely amazing and saves me so much time, money, and headaches!

I purchased a year subscription and it doesn’t end until July. Since January I have not been able to use the app at all because it’s saying it wants me to purchase a new subscription. In Apple Subscriptions it very clearly says my purchase doesn’t expire until Jul 11, 2021. Apple can’t issue a refund because I bought it more than 90 days ago and emails to the developer have gone unanswered. This app is useful when you are able to use it, but I would not recommend anyone purchase a subscription because of this. I should be able to use the app I paid for or be refunded.

I tried this and I was really excited because it seems like this did what I needed.

However this app has two major issues:
1) if you do an in app purchase it does not record properly and then blocks you from using the app because you have not paid.
2) there still seems to be in app advertising even if you have paid for the app. This greatly extends the scanning time. If you are scanning several checks for example this greatly extends the scanning time

Their support has this issue:
1) only way to co tact the developer is their website and the contact
Form is broken :(. Pretty terrible support!

Avoid this app there is nothing free here. They use deceptive tactics to get you to purchase their app! You have been warned!

The primary issue is the company uses a deceptive process to get you to purchase the App! When I opened it the first time the page opened with a white continue button, what didn’t register was the screen behind the button was defaulted to a lifetime subscription. I followed the trail of buttons thinking I was setting up the app only to find that they had changed my credit card $69.94. I am fighting this payment which believe it or not is not as easy as they made the purchase! I have made a lot of in app purchases but this is the first time a company has been so completely dishonest! Again, you have been warned!

Convert to text *soundsuseful, but unless you just want a hand written paragraph or something equally as linear converted, this app is useless. It cannot decipher or format notes in the margin, columns, or simple tables. Your notes will just look like a jumble of text—nothing where it should be.

If you want a GREAT scanning app that is much more sophisticated in its usefulness, AND IS FREE, check out Genius Scan… I’ve been using it for years.

To the developers—your app is stupidly overpriced for the lack of sophistication it offers, figure out the formatting/layout issue before you start charging for this app—A SUBSCRIPTION no less! This isn’t worth 6.99 even for a one-time cost! If you’re honest with yourselves, you already know that.

I downloaded this app because I saw an advertisement, great marketing, that stated it would change your documents into a word doc or a PDF after scanning and I thought this to be a useful component for a scanner because sometimes you may need to make a change or two, and you don’t want to use Adobe. So I downloaded the app. I almost decided to pay for it out right, however, Holy Spirit said wait and see, so I waited and sure enough there was a problem. The first pages of the documents that I scanned were all ORANGE. Yes, I was able to go back in and change the color however, who wants to do that. I am a scan and go kind of girl. So for that, it gets, only 2 stars and as a result, I am deleting the app. I’ll stick with the one that I already have on my device.

I downloaded this app just because of an advertisement on FB. You know, at fist I was skeptical about all this FREE trial thing, but this scanner saved me several times when I was on a trip and need to scan and sign documents asap. Cannot believe I did not use this app before. It’s easy, convenient and I would definitely recommend it. You can scan in b&w, color, add stamps and other things. Great job developer. There were some troubles when uploading large pdf files, but apparently they fixed it.
I haven’t used other scanners, but truly don’t need them. It must be the best of its type around.

The one thing I wish were different is the cost obviously, but I understand business is not a charity. Developers need money to keep all this stuff live.
Seen a lot of reviews with scam complaint. Well, people you’re in 2020, you should READ carefully what you are signing for. Besides, you can cancel free trial right away (ask google how).

For example, my friend use it’s free version and totally okay with the limitations. I think it’s great when you have an option to pay or not to pay.

TLDR: more expensive and not as good as other apps dedicated to handwriting to text. Manipulative pushy-feeling customer experience for someone just wanting to try out the features quickly left a bad tast in my mouth.

What I didn’t like: took a picture of a rather messy handwritten note. Had it translate it. This was the third program I tried with this, and the conversion was by far the worst. Text was split up into way to many lines. Lots of errors.

What a REALLY didn’t like: the mercenary nature of the pressure to give them money. This “free” version was the most limited of all the three options I tried and the most expensive. I had to sign up for the premium version just to try out the handwritten to text conversation capabilities. Yes, there is a 7 day free trial. And yes, I know the point of that is so I forget to UN-sign up for that and you get some money. That’s ruthless. That is why I’m taking the time to leave a bad review, along with your pestering me for a review and repeatedly trying to get me to sign up for your paid service before I had a chance to test out the product. Your customer experience starts off leaving a bad taste I my mouth.

Can’t speak to the other scanning features because that’s not what I was interested in, but you came up third or something when I searched for handwriting to text, so you should expect that type of customer.

First of all I like ScanGuru, and I use it a lot. But I have couple suggestion need to make for better user experience in ScanGuru.
1. I am using this app for signing a lot. I feel there are a lot improvement could be done. For example, after I was signing or editing the document. It shows up as new page. If my document was 10 pages of contract that I need to sign for all of them. After all the signing and editing, it shows 20 pages document. I cannot send this document to the receiver. Because the document contains the original pages that not need to be in there. So that I need to delete them. While I was deleting the unnecessary pages, I need to click into the page, and click the trash can icon to delete it, and return to the document page, and repeat the three-step to delete the rest of pages. Again, return to the signing part, because in some contracts that two or more different signature of mine, like Initial signature, and real signature in different pages. So that I need to go back to signature section to change multiple times. That is too much for the user like me, who heavily use on daily basis.
So there are three main concerns that affect my user experience a lot:
1. After signing or editing, that will show as new page. I wish it could be just editing on the original page, that is it.
2. For deleting the pages, just simply add red X icon on upper-right-hand-corner of each page in the document, instead of click into each page to do the delete. That saves a lot of time.
3. For the different signature, watermark and stamps, just simply allow user to save multiple signatures, watermarks, and stamps. And user can choose different signatures in different occasions.
You can try to sign with different signatures in different pages or edit 30 or 50 pages document and delete the blank pages, and will understand what do I went through in daily basis.

Unfortunately, they mislead you and so, you believe that it’s a free app. Once you download it, there appears a warning saying that you have to pay if you want to use it.I wish they could tell the truth from the very beginning…

I have similar app and I thought this app is different but I discovered that it’s functions are same with my previous one so I don’t need to pay recurrent on what I have in another version please effect the cancellation.

I installed this app and it shows me that it will charge $6.99/week or $49.99 annually. I know developers do need to earn for their time and effort but this pricing is just ridiculous pricing that I have ever seen. I would say no thanks !

First you have purchased a cellphone which is the equivalent of buying a used car! Now this monstrosity called Apple wants to nickel and dime us poor suckers to death for the few pennies we still have in our pocket! Go and fleece someone else!

I downloaded this app because of an add on FB stating its great and free, makes life easier with documents, after I downloaded while I'm doing the set up in the app it's stating there is a charge of $6.99 per month after a 7 day free trial.. so this app no not FREE!

This company is horrible. They take your money even if it’s cancelled and they won’t give it back. I had to cancel my card so they couldn’t take any more. The application didn’t work for normal handwriting or cursive. Great concept but it’s only useful if it works.

I better not get charged for this stupid app. I wasn’t paying attention and double clicked and it said “thanks for your purchase” and showed I had a week trial for free and then I’ll be charged. I’m canceling right now and they better not charge me. I hate shady apps like this.

What I saw on Facebook and the program you sold me are not the same. I paid 63 dollars which came off my apple account 59 dollars for life well this program is just not what I expected unless I am doing something wrong which I do not think so enlighten me and tell me how you are going to make it right

I downloaded this App to try it. It looked like it would be a great App and probably is but I’m sorry, the pricing scale is just too high. Come on! $6.99 per week?! $70.00 for one year? Did I read that correctly? If so, that’s just ridiculous. No thanks. I’ve got other Apps that allow me to do the same thing for a lot less $$.

This is a handy little utility to have on your device. It used to be free. The basic trial is free but the extra features arr pricy, priced by the week, month or year. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives than this than can scan multiple pages to PDF. I would buy this for a one time charge but I don’t like leasing software.

App works great but it’s horrible if you have to send a PDF file because each page gets sent as a huge file and if you are sending multiple pages, it has to be compressed. Despite me emailing them couple of times, They have not been able to reply back. For this experience, I don’t recommend this for people who needs to Convert to PDF and email.

I love the use of the app but what I just found out even though I have the weekly subscription I have been charged twice a week for 6.99 in addition to the weekly charge so 13.98 on my credit card statement. Thanks a lot! No number listed to call to get in contact with customer service either. Buyer beware and always check your credit card statement.

The free version only allows you to take a picture. I can do that with my camera app. I don’t need a scanner app to take a picture. You can’t convert to a Word or PDF and you can’t sign any documents. I understand that they need to keep some features for the paid version, but at least make signatures an option. This is literally no different than the camera.

I was interested in your app and had downloaded it to my iphone. Then I saw what you are charging for it. $6.99 a week?, that’s insane. That comes to $363.48 a year. I immediately deleted the app. I use a lot of apps and software and No app is worth that much. I’m sure it works well and you’ve put a lot of time and effort into developing it. But it’s way, way overpriced.
