I have discovered the same charge on my credit card. A charge for 12.99 from BB Essential sounds like a Bed and Breakfast of some legitimate charge I ignored a few times. But it keeps coming up and it seems they have been doing this for nearly three years. They do not even offer the service they are charging for any longer, but the charge still appears on the credit card. I have opened a charge back with my credit card and will be meeting with attorneys to discuss a class action law suit.

I have no idea how they got your card information but it is Real Networks. I know that they have some media player and you can order different games and stuff from them. I hope this helps a little.

RealTimes / RealNetworks mastercard charge unsolicited

checking my balance on Mastercard and saw a pending transaction from Real.com Online. It may not have been for much but it was disconcerting because of the fact that I had no idea what it was for and no recollection of having entered my card details with Real.com Online on that particular date. I have attempted to contact Real.com online asking them to clarify the situation but have not received any communication from them. How can this happen, it is wrong so wrong.

My complaint is that on my Mastercard each month there are five amounts taken out of my Mastercard on 4th November. Can you explain why these amounts are showing up on my monthly statements. I have no record of giving you my details. Please let me know so that I can cancel these payments. I have no reason to use Real.com Online in my computer. I demand immediate attention please. Thank you

RealTimes / RealNetworks Unauthorized Credit Card Charges

Real Networks has been billing my credit card for Jan-Mar 2009 without any authorization. Real Networks is one of the branch services from Real Audio along with Rhapsody, Real Arcade and other services. I did download the Rhapsody player and specifically remember NOT subscribing to additional services for music, video and game downloads and I never provided a credit card number. I charged a one time sign up fee for Real Audio Premium services way back in 2002. I guess they grab credit card information on file and move it to their other service fees when they need more money.

I was able to contact a RN Superpass rep at the [protected] number and successfully cancelled the service. There seems to be several complaint website on this company doing the same thing to a great number of people from around the world. Keep an eye on you monthly statements. don't let anyone charge you for what you have not signed up for. This is about the third time various companies have pulled the same thing on me.

I to have been charged a fee by this company for a service I never asked for or down loaded. I checked my account online as I do regularly on this past Saturday to make sure I had enough funds to pay some bills and just because I check it to keep the bank honest as well. Sure enough there was this charge that came up as Super pass in the amount of $14.99 I did not know what this was and called the bank as well as emailed the card provider service to file a question of this charge. After I had logged off for the week end they not only charged me $14.99 once but twice they have billed my account. I am disputing these charges. And if possible have these people hauled in to court to have them hung up by their Buster Browns ...! I say hang all these losers...! What they are doing is stealing and it should be a federal offence due to the fact they are doing this interstate (and or) across state lines ... Its credit card or just bank fraud...!

Can I post here a diabolical incident with this SuperPass thing? In summary, I accidentally ordered SuperPass (since a check box was added to something else I was ordering, so I signed up for a trial and was going to be charged after the trial). Having spotted this immediately, 5 mins later I had a long dialogue with one of their support staff who assured me that is was all cancelled as I asked. I took the opportunity to dump the transcript of the dialogue. I then sent the transcript to RN to make sure. But, afterwards, being 73, I forgot all about it. Now, a year later, I discovered that each month I have been paying this sub, and they will not refund it -- YET! Unbelievable. I could post the transcript here if it would amuse your readers...

RealTimes / RealNetworks Unauthorized charges

If you sign up for the 14 trial of Real Player Super Pass, they take your credit card information and you have to cancel the subscription to stop them from charging you a monthly fee. But when you try to cancel the subscription, you find out that you can only do so by calling a phone number. When you call that number, you go through a menu of options and then the call is disconnected. You cannot reach anyone. You cannot cancel the subscription.

I have notified my credit card company, and have changed my account (a significant nuisance), and I will file a complaint with my state consumer protection office.

Same problem, Comcast gave my information to Real Networks. I am unable to find anywhere in my agreement with Comcast where I gave them permission to give my credit card information to a third party, but I'm sure it's in their fine print somewhere. A Pox oh Comcast!

I called [protected], pressed a couple numbers after prompts and after about 10 minutes of listening to the worst hold music ever someone answered with a very thick Indian accent. It took a few minutes just getting her to repeat everything back to me a couple times because I think she had the same difficulty in understanding me as I did her. She pulled my info, said that she had my name, address, credit card info and email address courtesy of Comcast... I said I need to cancel. She went on to try to sell me the SuperPass package which I quickly declined and suggested she just cancel my "Account". She did. Then she asked if there is anything else she could do, and I kindly asked that she refund my money to my credit card. After a couple minutes she said that the refund was complete. So it IS possible - but Comcast and Real Networks should be ashamed for this type of business. I never created an account with REAL nor did I agree to anything anywhere to have the account created or for Comcast to give my info away.

Today I successfully canceled and got July payment refunded by calling [protected], the support location in India. This is after frustrating failures to cancel this "subscription" automation. According to the RealNetworks support technician an "affiliation" to services provided from Time Warner and Comcast will engage the SuperPass promotion service. Today's success happened because I used no password, account number or source data, and back-doored my way to real person.

I got automatically subscribed to real player superpass thru comcast. Now I am trying to find a way to cancel it. It ask me to sign-in to --> get the phone number --> to call --> to cancel it. But I don't have a password to sign-in. I tried resetting the password but I get no email on resetting it. This is clearly a scam and I am not going to pay them a dime.

Received two holds on our Debit card - someone managed to get hold of my wife's debit card number. Called them and had to have them stop the charges. Waiting to find out if they truly do so. They had set up the account with a different e-mail address, probably stolen from somebody else as well, since it was a hotmail account. Spoke with "Chloe" at real.com. Hopefully this is resolved. Had to cancel our Debit card immediately!

In 23.11.2008, I found the advertisements about Real player Plus from Real.com that can download and convert to DVD. Because my lack of knowledge about download experience,
I had downloaded 4 times for the same software in a short time and all were charged.
For a long time I am busy and not used real player. In 19.12.2008 I was again turn to Real Player plus and tried to convert a downloaded film to DVD. But it was blocked by Real player
ads. I entered my password and signed in and try to use Real player Plus again but nothing
happened. I have downloaded nothing and today I found out they have charged three times
for that Real Player PLus download. How can I prevent not to happen that kind of behavior?

RealTimes / RealNetworks Scam membership!

Well... perhaps my fault partly but in 2003 installed RealNetworks RealPlayer and didnt realize I registered for membership and just now in 2008 (900 dollars later) determined I was a member... sure, part my fault... but why would they continue to charge my account when no activity logging into there service for 5 years?!? They gave me 3 month refund... 45 dollars... I was billed 900 DOLLARS !

I recommend when installing anything... don't give any card even if it is for 14 days trial... they wont make it easy for you to see that you will be billed... and after 5 years maybe give you 45 dollars refund.

I had the same problem. Real networks has no interaction with you after they start billing you. No correspondence at all. The company does not engage in normal and accepted business practices and they offer you nothing in restitution. Under no circumstances should anyone use this kluge of a product until Real networks fixes this business practice. They make the superpass part of the installation process and do not make it known to the user in any way that they are being billed. A monthly statement would have been nice. But nothing. This is a major scam
