Terrible Experience with Right Cars - Scam and Awful Customer Service
My experience with Right Cars wasn't good at all. I booked a rental car from them for my trip to Ft Lauderdale. First off, they were asking for $300,000 in liability which seemed a bit too much. I haven't heard of any other car rental agency asking for such a hefty amount. Even after paying such a huge amount, I was disappointed with their customer service. They were absolutely terrible. They were not helpful at all and didn't seem to care about their customers.
To make matters worse, they failed to provide me with the refund of $300 that I was supposed to get. I had to wait for four long days for an amount that should have been processed within minutes. When I called the local office to inquire about the status, they said that they had forgotten to submit the refund request. Can you imagine that! They had no intention of refunding my money.
Frustrated and angry, I decided to escalate the matter to the corporate office and e-mailed them. But guess what, even the corporate office was unhelpful and rude. It was obvious that they didn't care about their customers.
In conclusion, my experience with Right Cars was horrible and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They are a scam, and their customer service is awful. This was my first time writing a negative review about a company, but I felt compelled to share my experience with others, so they don't have to go through what I went through.
Nightmarish Experience with Right Cars and Travelocity Rental
I had a not-so-great experience with Right Cars. First of all, when I tried to find their location on Narcosse Rd., I couldn't find it anywhere! This was frustrating, but eventually, I was able to get to their location. However, when I arrived, my rental car wasn't even ready. I was told it would take 45 minutes to clean, and I wasn't sure if I could wait that long.
To make matters worse, I found out that my USAA insurance wasn't accepted, and they tried to charge me an extra $30 each day for their insurance. This was a huge red flag, and I started to feel like something wasn't right. When the lady on the video chat (there was no one at the desk) offered to cancel the rental due to all the issues, I took her up on it without hesitation.
Instead, I went next door to Advantage and was able to get a car for $20 cheaper. I was relieved to have found a better option, but then I ran into another problem. Travelocity, the site I used to book the rental, stated that Right-Cars wouldn't agree to a refund. This was incredibly frustrating, and I didn't know what to do next.
Finally, I decided to file a credit card dispute and am currently waiting for the issue to be resolved. I can say for certain that I will never use Right Cars or Travelocity again. The whole experience was a nightmare and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Terrible Experience with Right Cars - Poor Service & Unprofessionalism
My experience with Right Cars was terrible. I've rented cars for so many years, and I can say that they are the poorest and most unprofessional remap company I've ever dealt with.
They told me there was a shuttle bus from the airport to their rental location, but when I arrived, I was told there was none. I tried to call them, but no one answered my call at 4:40 pm. It was so frustrating.
To make things worse, they posted the wrong pick-up location. When I went to the supposed location to pick up the car, I was informed that they had moved to a different building. It was such a hassle, and I had to use Lyft to get to my hotel, which isn't cheap.
Overall, my experience was bad, and I wouldn't recommend anyone to do business with them. It's just not worth it.

Deceptive and Dishonest: Right Cars Refused to Provide Car Despite Full Payment
So, I booked a car with Right Cars through Orbitz and paid the full amount aforetime. But when I rolled up to their counter, they refused to give me a car just because I had a debit card instead of a credit card, even though that was the same card they had charged me with. The rep then advised me to reach out to Orbitz to get the refund, taking no responsibility whatsoever. So, I contacted Orbitz and requested for the refund, but Right Cars shamelessly refused to give me my money back. Honestly speaking, they took my cash without even providing me with the car- what crooks! I fervently hope that Orbitz takes swift action and removes them from their website, to prevent anyone else from having to deal with such immoral and dishonest people.
Review: Right Cars in Miami - Disappointing Experience with Extra Charges and Rude Staff
So, I had myself a nice little trip to Miami a while back. Being the smart fellow that I am, I decided to rent a car from the folks over at Right Cars. And let me tell you, right off the bat I had some issues. I tried to use my State Farm Insurance, just like I always had when renting cars, but for some reason they wouldn't let me! Can you believe that? And I had my own Sun Pass too, but nooo, they wouldn't allow that either! What a crock!
So there I am, caught between a rock and a hard place, what else was I supposed to do? I had to pay extra for their insurance, and they charged me for the Sun Pass too. And to make matters worse, the girl working there was a real piece of work! She gave me some lip about it being my choice to rent from them, like I had a choice after I'd already made my reservation! Rude, man. Just rude.
I felt like I didn't have a choice but to suck it up and pay the extra charges, which ended up bumping my daily rate up to $38! Not exactly what I was expecting when I saw their cheap rates advertised. Needless to say, I won't be renting from Right Cars again. I'll be taking my business elsewhere, where they know how to treat a customer right!
Mixed experience with Right Cars rental service at Orlando Airport
I recently rented a car from Right Cars for a 2-week trip from Orlando Airport. At first, I was excited to use their service as it was affordable and easy-to-use on Expedia. However, once we arrived at the off-airport rental counter, things started to go downhill.
First of all, we had to wait for a long time for the shuttle to pick us up. This was a real pain as we were eager to start our journey but had to wait until the shuttle finally arrived.
Once we arrived at the rental counter, we were met with a surprise. We were charged an additional $8.25 per day for a toll transponder that was not previously disclosed to us in the rental terms. The excuse given was that we were from Canada and might not be aware of the toll charges. This was quite frustrating as it wasn't mentioned anywhere before we booked our rental.
To make matters worse, they held onto our deposit and refunded it later instead of destroying the credit card slip immediately when we returned the car. It was a little confusing and made me feel uneasy that they had my deposit money.
When I called Expedia for assistance, they were not particularly helpful and simply referred me to a disclaimer. The general disclaimer stated that there may be additional charges or taxes at the pick-up location, which was a little frustrating because I feel like they could have done more to help me out in this situation.
Despite the issues we encountered, the actual car rental experience itself was decent. The car was clean and reliable, which was the most important thing for us.
Overall, while the experience may not have been perfect, I would still recommend Right Cars as a decent option for car rentals. Just be cautious of any additional fees or charges that may arise.
Nightmare Rental Experience: Right Cars Failed to Deliver on Promises
I recently had a chance to rent a car from Right Cars (right-cars.com) and let me tell you, it was a real hassle! First off, we reserved our car and when we got to the airport, their shuttle didn't show up. We called the numbers they gave us but no one answered! We tried calling several times and we just couldn't get through! Finally, we managed to find a shuttle to take us to the rental cars location but that took us more than 3 hours!
Once we got there, we found out that the company didn't have any agents available. Everything was being done virtually! Can you believe it? And as if that wasn't bad enough, they told us that my 6-year old kid has been set as the driver and there's no way they could change it! Crazy, right? So they cancelled our booking and booked another car, but twice as expensive as what we originally intended to pay.
It was a long and frustrating process. After more than 4 hours, and with two little kids in tow, we finally managed to get the car. But wait, there's more! They charged us three times the actual price and didn't send us a refund! What a terrible experience! This was the first time we had such a terrible experience with a rental car company and it definitely won't be the last.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend Right Cars rentals. The whole process was a mess and it caused a lot of unnecessary stress for us. They definitely need to work on their customer service and their procedures if they want to keep their customers happy.
Beware of Right Cars in Fort Lauderdale: Deceptive Fees and Poor Customer Service
I had the chance to rent a car from Right Cars during a recent trip to Fort Lauderdale in November 2019. As I had my own car insurance, I showed them the document to prove it. However, I was told that I needed an additional $300,000 in collision coverage to be able to rent the vehicle. Despite my attempts to explain that I didn't require this extra coverage, they insisted and charged me an additional $150.00.
The plan was to drive to the West coast, so I decided against getting the Sunpass for $190. Instead, I opted to pay the $54.00 fee. Unfortunately, several weeks later, I was shocked to receive a bill of $110.00 for tolls. I was only aware that I had crossed the Alligator Alley twice, so I asked for a bill from the Sunpass. However, despite my numerous attempts to obtain it, I was unsuccessful. Eventually, I resorted to contacting Discover Card to initiate an investigation into the matter. However, it was a futile effort as I had to pay the charges, even though Discover Card was unable to provide me with a copy of them. Thus, I ended up having to take the word of the Right Cars staff.
After my experience with Right Cars, I would highly recommend that you stay away from them. They were one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with, and I have rented cars from several different agencies in the area for many years. Despite my repeated attempts to contact them, they refused to return any of my calls. Thus, it appears that the lesson has been learned – do not get involved with Right Cars!
Disappointing Experience with Right Cars: Forced Insurance and Useless Toll Coverage
So, I rented a car from Right Cars and it was not the best experience. Firstly, I was under the impression that they were located at the airport, but turns out you have to take a second shuttle to get there. This caused a bit of trouble as we waited for more than 20 minutes for the shuttle to arrive. When we finally got on the shuttle, the ride took 15-20 minutes to reach the car rental company.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a representative who forced us to take the insurance that cost us 70 US dollars. We were told that if we did not have the insurance papers in English with us, the company will require us to take their insurance. Despite my efforts to decline the insurance coverage, I had to take it anyway.
To make matters worse, they also offered us a per-day toll coverage for 14 dollars. When I asked if there were tolls on our way to Pompano, they told me that tolls are everywhere now and that we could not pay cash or with a credit card. However, surprisingly, during our week-long trip, we didn't see any tolls.
After just two days, I realized that the toll coverage was completely useless for us, and I wanted a refund. Unfortunately, when I contacted them, I was told that it was non-refundable.
Overall, my experience with Right Cars was not pleasant. From having to take a second shuttle to pick up the car, to the mandatory insurance, and the useless toll coverage, it was a bad experience.
Beware of Right Cars: Deceptive Policies and Price Gouging
Right Cars ain't no good at keeping to what they agree on. I said to 'em, real clear and plain, that I'd bring my own SunPass, but did they listen? No way, Jose. When I talked to 'em 'bout booking the car, they told me to bring my own and it'd all be cool, but that was just a big fat lie. They also fibbed 'bout the insurance - they reckon the State of Florida says you gotta have it, but I know for a fact that ain't true 'cause the AG done told 'em so. And yet still they charge me an arm and a leg - almost $325! - for using their SunPass when I'd already got my own in the car. Truth is, they don't care 'bout nothin' but getting your money.
The way they make ya sign things is terrible too. You can't even see what they're making you agree to before you're already stuck in the middle of things. It's a downright nasty company, and they don't give a flying fig 'bout their customers. I swears, I will never ever be rentin' from them again, and as far as I'm concerned, nobody else should either. I seen plenty of people - especially folks who don't know the score - gettin' ripped off, and it's just plain crooked. They make their prices seem low, but they're really just trying to fool ya. Adds up to $50 or $60 extra per day just for insurance and SunPass, which is highway robbery if I ever seen it.
bad service and no response to complaints
Good Day Barend,
Kindly see the attached fine received for the license disc being expired.
Kindly see the attached license disc as well, the disc expired on 31 May 2018 and we took delivery of the vehicle on 15 June 2018.
I also paid close to R4000.00 for this to be done by the dealership, we went there at least twice specifically to collect it and were told it was not ready, my husband and I both phoned and asked for it as well.
I had paid for this service to be done and then I had to follow up as the service was not being done, when both my husband and I spoke with the sales guy he informed us that it is your job not his as he is just a sales guy. Yet when I called you I was then informed that it's the sales persons job not your job however I had approached you as you are the principal dealer / manager and I was getting now where with the sales guy. The sales guy even said to my husband that he was willing to cover the costs of the fine and the license disc 50% and my husband must pay the other 50%
Why would I pay 50% when I have already paid almost R4000.00 for this service?
As a customer who has just spent a huge sum of money with your dealership, I do not care whose job it is or is not, I have paid for a service and it is the manager of the dealerships job to ensure the employees under him are performing their duties not the clients job.
I expect the dealership to pay this fine in full as this service was not done properly and in a timeously manner by the dealership which resulted in this fine being received.
deposit not refunded
I am so sorry to hear these stories. My story is the same. February 1 2014 we hired a car from Right Cars in Glasgow. I was surprised that we had to pay the deposit GBP 350 immediately. I used my debit card to pay the deposit. Now, 28 February, we still don't have our money back. They made up a fake digit code and told us that the deposit has been refunded to this account number. And they also told us it might take 14 days... which already passed. They also told us many times that they will investigate it with their financial department. I feel so stupid that I did not Google this company before I made a car reservation. But we don't want to get this company to get away with this. Did anyone of you got your money back by now of filed a lawsuit against them?
Credit card deposit not returned
I rented a car from Right Cars on 15th June 2013 and returned it in perfect working order on 16th June 2013.
The company took £383 from my card on collection of the car. They should have returned £350 but they have not yet reverted the transaction. Right Cars terms and conditions state that it could take between 10 and 14 working days for the funds to show up on my bank statement but it has not been returned.
On 25th June I spoke to a gentleman called Richard Little who told me he was the chairman of Right Cars. I think he might be the accountant not the chairman, my wife spoke to Kyle Anderson, who told her that. Mr Little said to me that the money had been sent to my account on 18/06/13 and provided me with a reference number that my bank do not recognise.
Today (08/07/13) is the 15th working day and the money has not been returned to my card. I rang the company three times this morning but there was no answer.
I would like to have the £350 returned to my card as soon as possible, so I am asking the my bank to act on my behalf to recover the money.
So far it seems like this company is not to be trusted with anybody credit card details..
On the 12th July 2013, after 19 working days (not 10 and 14 as mentioned on their terms and conditions) Right Cars returned my £350 deposit.
I received an email threatening with legal action (see text below).
Glad I got my money back. Never again hiring from these cowboys.

Right Cars Glasgow
Fifiwi, when you received your receipt did it have a date and time on it?
I have just received a refund slip from Right Cars, The problem is there is no time or date on the slip, having worked in retail I know where the date and time should be and there is a crease line on my scanned document where this should be. When asked about the date and time I was told that this is all they have and was assured that the refund was made the day after I returned the car. I was also told that I should see the money in my account within the next 2-3 working days. Yes Right Cars this would be correct as you have only just processed my refund today, that is why you have hidden the date and time from me! Who are these guys kidding!
Another one! I hired a car from them, 16th to 20th May, and was assured that the £350 would be re-credited to my credit card immediately...Ha! No sign of it in June or July credit card statements...it finally hit my account on 21st July! (after the July statement print date)
Meanwhile, I had made a few fruitless calls to their office- watch out for the loud music which almost drowns out the female voice, while you wait for your call to be answered. I also emailed them about it. They even sent a copy of the "receipt" showing the refund had been made. Well, yes, but it took 2 months..there is something seriously wrong with this company. If I need a car for future Glasgow visits, I'll be going elsewhere. They may be "cheap" but it's not worth the hassle.
I too are now in this same boat, my 14 days have passed and I am now being told that their finance team are looking into where my deposit has gone because they did issue the refund the next day my rental was return some how I think there are "porkies" being told, does anyone has any suggestions for me as to how to get my money back?
Exactly the same story from me - I didn't think twice about my deposit being returned. This was May 2014. It has taken over a month to get my £350 back. It seems they waited until I asked my bank to take action - suddenly the money is returned. Right Cars, I don't think so.
Me too! I'm another victim of this bunch of crooks. If this practice is not illegal its certainly immoral. I have contacted trading standards, which Magazine and the BBC with a hope that this issue gets the publicity it deservs
Juan only called Richard Little a gentleman presumably because English is not his mother tongue. He is actually one of the 2 directors of Right Cars and his registered address is 5 Rowanberry Court, Lennoxtown, Glasgow G66 7BF. You can write to him there if you can't phone his office - but also try phoning as a booking, they tend to answer those calls. The other director, Karl Taylor lives in East Sussex and is also a director of Gatwick Airport Car Rental Ltd. Right Cars are also registered in East Sussex, hence the Disputes via English law.
From the number of complaints about withheld deposits it would look like this company is in severe financial difficulties. Would the withheld deposits be paying the leases on the office and cars? Would R. J. Little be driving a Jaguar that could be used for executive hire? I wonder how many cars and staff there are in this company. From the complaints there appears to be a female (in Head Office Accounts!), R. J. Little, and one other male assistant. Number of cars? Don't think it's many.
This is supposed to be a cheap rental company but by the time you have gone through all the frustration, time, and effort of trying to get your money back, it's very expensive PLUS the bigger rental companies don't take a deposit from your credit card, they merely take an imprint in case it is needed.
I suspect there will be a witch hunt by Little and his staff because of this posting but his days are numbered unless he starts providing a proper service.
This has also happened to me. The 14 working days for the refund of my £350 ran out yesterday (20th March). I rang Right Cars again this morning and was told that they will scan the receipt to me which was issued by them on 4th March. They really are a disreputable company and not to be trusted with money or card details. I am now going to ask my credit card company to help me with this case.
I'm having the same problem. Right Cars Paisley took £406 as deposit and have not yet returned it - three months later. I'm trying to get it reimbursed from my credit card company but I'm beginning to think that the Small Claims Court would be more appropriate.
Yes I have been had also charged with no refund Still waiting on my £350 to be returned to my card. Complete con as I was told it would be refunded the day I returned the car that was 12 days ago. I have contacted my credit card company they are on the case. Can't believed these guys think this is acceptable business practice
