Spectrum College Transition Program reviews and complaints
Ethical, professional, & misrepresentation complaint
When considering Spectrum College Transition Program for your child who deserves the very best of care, it is highly suggested that parents carefully review this complaint board, and thoroughly research all other information and complaints associated with Spectrum College Transition Program. If possible, it is highly advised that parents speak with other parents who have had their children enrolled in this program.
In the best interest of their children, it is highly recommended that parents who are considering enrolling their children in the Spectrum College Transition Program understand that once your child is enrolled in this program, communication with the Spectrum staff is significantly limited, particularly with Ms. Sweet.
Concerns with regards to Ms. Sweets communication and respect for the need for parental interaction is often disregarded, and referred to as "parental emotional rantings." A sense of complacency, entitlement, disregard, misrepresentation, and violation of ethical and professional standards is highly in question.
Parents considering Spectrum College Transition Progam are highly encouraged to research other schools who offer services for their children with Aspergers and Aspergers Spectrum features. The learning environment for both children and parents, particularly in lieu of the fact that it is a boarding school, requires patience, compassion, and understanding from staff and administration. Spectrum College Transition Program is strongly perceived to be void of these essential qualities.

The Program in its entirety!
I attended Spectrum College Transition Program for 3 years. I was Robin Sweet's "senior member" of the "fraternity" Sigma Tau Epsilon. I was her "rock." I was also her lab experiment. I left Spectrum in May of 2016, and I moved to missouri to live with a lifelong family friend. Upon evaluation of an honest and morally upright psychiatrist, I was told I had been prescribed FOUR different medications that treat the SAME THING. Lamictal, abilify ( a 30 mg dose--usually prescribed in that potency for manic bipolar disorder ) depakote and lithium. Mind you the typical maximum dose of lithium is 900 mg, I was on 1, 350 mg.
I could go on till the end of life as we know it with complaints and legal matters with spectrum. I'll save my breath and my thumbs. One for the record books however, I broke a sport craft air hockey table, found priced at $80 on Walmart.com. Robin has the nerve to go and order a $1, 200 air hockey table and force me to pay for it. All the while the ultimate goal for me is to move out and become "truly independent." Another ironic truth is in the fall of 2015, Robin had the kahones to TELL me, " you are not going to school tomorrow. You're parents are bleeding money and it's not right." This is because I was failing automotive electrical in a degree program sponsored by Toyota, being taught by a Einsteinian prodigy who placed #2 in a world competition in Japan for bugging and repairing automotive electronics.
Robin shows up maybe 3 times a week. 1. Staff meeting. 2. Groceries. 3. Maybe to make dinner.
Point being she's never there and yet has the ultimate say in consequences and whatnot.
By the way, beware of the phrases, " tools and strategies" " cool calm and collected" "successful and independent."
The bottom line is Robin Sweet is a liar, a crook, and a thief. Do not be fooled by her mind clouding sweet talk. She cackles like a witch for a reason...

The service is not great, staff is rude.
I attended Spectrum as a student. I was transitioning from another program and thought Spectrum would help me get started in College. If you are anything like me I am a cool guy who wants to do well in school and make friends while doing it. My Parents found Spectrum and took me to see it. At first glance, the program seemed to be grand. The pool was nice and complemented the backyard. The staff at first were very nice and had extensive knowledge of the program. After meeting with Robin who is the program director I felt pretty good about being at spectrum, so I moved in that day. A few months after being there I noticed the following. After only being there two months Spectrum lost 50 percent of their staff. Kelly Hankins who you will meet seems charming. She was in charge of everyday operations of the house. She was totally unprofessional and was very rude. She messed up all of my medicine and blamed it on the pharmacy. Her communication lacked to the point that my parents stopped trying. She manipulated what I said and yelled at us. Both Kelly and Robin have horrible management styles that are non-flexible and senseless. After three months of being there I left and moved into the Dorms at ASU. By the way she will say that all of their students are college kids, that is far from true. Spectrum starts you out doing one class at Scottsdale Community College. they drive up in a big white van wich makes the kids in the van feel embarrassed. they then leave you kid on campus with nothing to do for hours saying that they are teaching college success. take it from a college kid that by sitting in the heat and waiting for a white creepy van does not teach you anything. For the price and treatment i don't recommend the program. if you look at the other reviews they will say the same. I thought it was just not true. I can tell you thousands of dollars later that they are true.

Not what it appears to be. Misrepresented. Huge disappointment.
Beware. Beware. Beware. The staff is great, the program promising, but the director, Robin Sweet, (in our opinion, based on our experience---which we do not believe is unusual) is an overbearing egomaniacal autocrat, although she pretends to be so friendly, open and accessible when selling you into the program. She can very well ruin your child'...
