Mission Federal Credit Union hidden fees

I have been banking with this credit union for over 20 years. They have recently taken a turn downhill. Their formerly excellent customer service is now out to gauge their customers. I started trying to close my account just over a week ago when I had $60 in my checking/savings accounts. They refused to close it. They said I had to send them a handwritten letter through snail mail to close the account.
Since then, they have managed to rack up overdraft charges which has led me into a negative balance of $140. I opted-out of their overdraft fee system in April 2019, or so I thought. Today (10/19/19), they are claiming there were two overdraft systems in place, one for "checking" and one for all electronic transactions. They refuse to overturn even part of their wrongly (illegally) assessed fees or to close my account.
This is nothing short of fraud and thievery and is definitely unethical behavior on the part of a financial institution. If not illegal, it should be. A
All of this occurred while I was moving cross-country to start a new job. The credit union only has branches in California and I am in Texas.

We applied for an auto loan through them. My husband and I had been trying to decide which credit union to begin a relationship with here in San Diego and we thought we'd give them a shot. We applied online and Arlina calls to say congratulations your loan has been approved! We were super excited!! She starts asking some questions and then puts us on hold...

Mission Federal Credit Union Discriminatory Practices

We were told that a lower interest was available on a home equity line of credit upon a recent visit to a branch and decided to take advantage of the interest rate reduction. The person handling the loan was very rude, and refused to take into consideration all of the income we had. We were denied the interest rate reduction. When we visited the Office of Consumer Protection, National Credit Union Administration, it said to reach out to the Supervisory Board of the Credit Union. We did that, and, within 24 hours of contacting the Board, we were told we would completely lose the line of credit. This is clear retaliation, and for a credit union that advertises itself as an entity of "members helping members" nothing could be further from reality. We have been members of the credit union for over 31 years and do not believe seeking "help" from a credit union's board - which is specifically in place to "deliver the highest level of service to you while maintaining financial strength and stability" should result in retaliation. This all stems from the fact that the loan officer refused to consider rental income from someone who - because of miliary service - was not "living in the household." It is obvious that customer support and helping members is nowhere near the focus or goals of Mission Federal. Even more amazing is that the President and CEO of Mission Federal states "At Mission Fed, your success truly is our bottom line." Nothing could be further from the truth. Instead, it appears, quite the opposite is true. You have many choices for credit unions and banks. Steer clear of this one.

Mission Federal Credit Union Class Action Repo Notice

Repo Notice Class Action Certified
The Auto Fraud Legal Center recently had a class action certified in San Diego County. The case is Arben Selimi v. Mission Federal Credit Union, Case No. 37-2009-[protected]-CU-CO-CTL. The case alleges that the notices that Mission Federal sends to consumers after their vehicles are repossessed do not comply with California law, specifically the Automobile Sales Finance Act. The notices, Selimi alleges, overstated the amount that consumers had to pay in order to get their vehicles back after they were repossessed. In addition, the notices did not provide an address to either mail or deliver the request for an extension of the time period before the vehicles were sold after they were repossessed. Superior Court Judge John Meyer certified the case as a class action. The time period of the class is June 1, 2007 to the present. No ruling has been made on the merits of the case. However, the remedy that Selimi is seeking for these improper notices is the waiver of any deficiencies that existed after the sale of the vehicles.
