Aspire Visa Unauthorized credit card charges

For the past 2 1/2 years, I have been trying to resolve the issue of the credit card company charging a fee for credit card protection insurance. The charge shows up as "Cardsafe, " and is charged monthly, based upon the amount of the outstanding balance. I never signed up for any type of credit card protection insurance, and first discovered that I was being charged this monthly fee, when I paid the card off in September, 2007. When I questioned these charges, they were refunded to me. Subsequently, when I began using the card again, the fees were once again charged to the card. After numerous calls to the credit card company, I disputed the charges in writing. I was then informed by Aspire that Cardsafe is an independent entity, and that I should contact them directly (the phone number is [protected]). When I contacted Cardsafe, they told me that they had no record of my name or address, and that those charges were supposed to be billed to a Michael Taylor, who lived in another city. However, the charges were billed to my card. I expressed to them my concerns that this was a possible identity theft issue, and was told by Cardsafe to contact Aspire Visa, to resolve this issue. Subsequently, this issue was resolved, but the Cardsafe charges continued to be charged to my credit card. Once again, I called Aspire Visa Card, stating that I had never signed up for credit card protection. I was again advised to call Cardsafe. Each time I called Cardsafe, I was always told that the manager (who was never there whenever I called) would call me back. I never received a call back. Once again, I called Aspire Visa, and the customer service representative initiated a three-way call between Aspire, Cardsafe and myself. The Aspire rep explained my situation to Cardsafe, and once again, the Cardsafe rep assured all parties that the manager would contact me. Again, I never received a call. Once again, I contacted Aspire, and was advised to transfer my card balance to a new credit card. The rep assured me that once this was completed, no more fees would be charged to the new credit card. When I received the statement from the new credit card, Cardsafe fees were stlll being deducted from my credit card. I believe that Cardsafe is based in a foreign country (India or the Philippines). I also believe that Aspire Visa and Cardsafe work in partnership with each other, because Aspire consistently failed to resolve my issues with Cardsafe. I believe proper redress would be to refund all Cardsafe fees charged to my account.

I just tried making a payment on the internet to Aspire Credit Card that was due on 8/20/2010 and it would not let me make the payment on the 18th. I was able to make the payment but it will not be posted until the 26th of August and the payment is originally due on the 20th of August! This is unfair especially since we have the internet as a way of making the payment.

My ASPIRE Visa was cancelled for absolutely no reason. I always pay my balance in full each month and often ran a credit balance with the company. My credit is in excellent shape with no late payments or anything else adverse on it. I tried to call customer service to talk with someone about the problem but low and behold the number had been disconnected...

Aspire Visa closed credit

Despite having an 'Outstanding' credit history for the past 15yrs., Aspire Visa has had an extremely negative impact on our credit. It has effected our FICO score as well as our other credit cards. (APR)

It wasn't until today that I discovered this site, what has been done to us has been done to many... As I read! I'm wondering if anyone has found out any info. in resolving the issues that Aspire Visa has caused?

I think what frustrates me the most is there is no contact phone number I had the same experience, always paid double or triple my min payment, and they just closed the card on their part, they made it clear it was not because of my credit or payment history. Does anyone have a phone number for them?

Aspire closed my acct. Dec.24, 2008 for reasons:
The company terminated Visa program

However, since then I have noticed on my statements they are still charging me Periodic Finance charge and additianal finance charges on my outstanding balance...

did you get a answer to this question on the finance charges? I myself am curious, why do we pay such a high interest rate or any at all when we can't even have use of the money. Please let me know at rose4unme@gmail.com. Thanks.

Aspire Visa Unauthorized billing

I have been a customer at aspire for over 3 years now, and I have never been late in those 3 years, and have even paid off my balance in its entirely once.

Today (November 28, 2008) I received a letter in the mail stating they were terminating my credit card effective December 8, 2008, but I am still responsible for my entire balance. This is after they already charged memy annual fee, which should not have happened if they knew they were folding.

I did not call their customer service because I have already had enough problems in the past in dealing with them, but I have also read numerous complaints about customers calling about this same exact problem and getting no results. I agree with everyone on here in that there needs to be a class action lawsuit against this company, because we should they have shady business practices that need to be investigated further. As consumers we should not be responsible for our balance if they are the ones closing, since it is their fault and not the ones who are timely consumers.

As for people curious about class action lawsuits, they are rather easy to start. You have to hire an attorney that deals with civil suits (you want one that is experienced in class action suits). Then you will tell them about your case and that it is nationwide, then they will do the rest. Keep in mind most civil attorneys usually ask for 30-40% of whatever you win.

Aspire Visa account dispute

I called their customer service today to get a new card, as mine had just expired. Nobody, including the supervisor, was able to access my card information and I was told my account had been purged from the system due to inactivity for over 90 days (the balance was paid off a few years ago). I had received no letter informing me of this, and wouldn't you know it, I am able to access my account information both online and via their telephone account status information, and as far as I can tell, the account is open. I am at a loss as to what to do next, as I am now the proud owner of an account in limbo.

On Nov. 13 I received a letter of termination. They closed my account for no reason. I pay each month and hold a small balance. Sometimes no balance at all. What a ripoff. I don't care about the account being closed but now it will lower my Fico score. In this economy I have strived to keep my score at least 700..and now it will be ruined. There is no...

Aspire Visa Fraudulent practices

My credit card started being declined at stores on 11/10/08. At first I thought it was a bad scan but then I realized that something was wrong with the card. After attempting to make an online purchase I was notified the card was declined again. Upon calling customer service I was notified that Aspire Visa was discontinuing it's services and was never given a reason why. When I asked 'Robert' if ALL of the Aspire Visa accounts were being discontinued I was notified that 'Aspire Visa is discontinuing it's services' He would never specify if it was just my account or others as well.

I called back a second time with more questions about my account and spoke with 'Robert' again. I am currently waiting and have been waiting for over 30 minutes on the phone to speak with a representative that can discuss my actual account information. It is now 2:06 am. I am very disappointed and disgusted with their customer service.

I will evaluate this last bill with a magnifying glass to make sure they are not stealing any more of my money. My account limit has never been reached and I pay the bill off every month. There is no reason on my end why the card should be discontinued. Will this hurt my credit in the end? My credit at current is perfect. Their customer service is repulsive.

I have had an Aspire Card (Satan's Company) for over ten years. In the past, I wouldn't pay much attention to statements, and just make the monthly minimum. I decided during the summer to get busy and pay off the card. I have made over $1000.00 in payments and my balance has barely moved. As of October, they closed my account and raised the interested rate---nice hey. I've called and emailed often, and they politely tell me, "I understand your concern, but we cannot lower the rate on an account that is closed. I want to take action---anyone interested in a class action suit. This company is the Madoff of banking facilities. Diane

It is Dec. 11th and have not received a letter and our card is still active. (Live in TX). However, did notice the credit limit was reduced by $150, not much, but have put in an email query.

I luckily have never had any problems with Cust. Serv, statements, payments, etc and for the past three years always got a nice credit limit increase. I paid exclusively by the website and my payments were always posted immediately and the $150 fee was reduced every year due to good payment history. I can find no official news of Aspire closing, only comments on boards such as this. Anyone read or hear of annything Official?

If indeed all accounts are getting closed, that will have a tremendous effect on credit scores, especially those of us who pay of the balance each month and are used to having that percentage of credit available. If anyone finds any info, please post!

Same thing happened to me. I think there could be a class action lawsuit started on this. If anyone decides to start one email me with lawyers info. They are ruining peoples credit which will cost everyone thousands of dollars more on future purchases.

They should also hault the interest payment since the account has been closed and just have us pay on the priciple balance.

I live in Virginia and I also received the same letter. After speaking with 2 customer service reps I really don't have any additional info to share. I do not have a balance on my account, but I am concerned about how this will be reported to the credit companies (TransUnion, EquitiFax) etc. The last rep I spoke with said it would report as the Company closed all cards. I don't have a real good feeling about that. With the way things are now Credit score means alot. Any thoughts?

It is not just Ohio . . . I am from Texas and got "the letter". I am fortunate in that I had paid off the card and wasn't using it -- other than they charged me in September for my annual fee. I was told that they would be refunding me a prorated amount but could not tell me when. I thought that since they were not making anything off of my account that they were cancelling me. Obviously this is affecting every customer. They must be going under like several companies right now. Really stinks!

I called their customer service just now. Their guy claimed that this was happening because Aspire Visa would no longer be in existance in the future. When I tried to call earlier in the day, the line was always busy.
I was wondering if it was specific to the state of Ohio because issue 5 had passed restricting short term interest rates to 28.5% and if this also
applied to credit cards.
Would business really be that bad at 30%? Do that many people wind up defaulting that the losses exceed their gains at 30%? Or are they really
suffering that many losses because the economy is tanking and so many people are hit and can't afford to pay their bills anymore?
I guess I'm glad that I got signed up with some of these other pre-approved offers that had been coming lately, or I'd be hit now.

I forgot to mention when I spoke with the Aspire Visa representative I was told it wasn't only I whose card had been discontinued. The customer service rep told me there were many other card holders whose cards had been discontinued without being given a legitimate reason. Aspire Visa customers: If you haven't as yet received a letter from Aspire stating your Visa account has been closed, you should expect to receive a one in the mail soon.

I also just spoke with someone from Aspire Visa and was told after receiving a letter my card would no longer be in effect but I would continue receiving monthly statements until my balance was paid in full. What the heck? I asked the Aspire representative if Aspire had filled bankruptcy and he did not answer. Lately, I have been using the card frequently and now I am without the credit card if i need it in case of an unforeseen emergency.
