Arcane Services Scam

Arcane services (www.arcaneservices.com) have disconnected their phones and have not delivered any services as stated in their contract. There seems to be quite a few that are having problems with them.

Their phone numbers are no longer in service and the address at St-Joseph is a fake address, but the following is the contact

Mark Layne is the individual that has been taking calls and all cheques were to be sent to the address above. Hopefully this can be used to help others.

As a side note, the domain was registered by Nathan Snook who has been charged with Fraud in the past.

Arcane Services Lack of service

Having fallen for the story a number of weeks ago that Arcane's services would improve and thanking me for my patience, Arcane's services have gone from poor to nil. We have left numerous telephone messages but not one call has been returned. Having paid for grass cutting, fertilizing and snow blowing to boot we realize we have been suckered into this situation by a salesman who assured us that this was a young guy starting out on his own and he would do a wonderful job. It is interesting that the salesperson who gave me his number is also not answering his phone. It seems there are always people out there who work harder at being deceitful than being responsible people operating an ethical business.

Arcane solicited my 87 year old mother by knocking on her door into signing a snow removal contract last year (Nov 2011). A small driveway at a condo. Boxing Day last year she was having company and had to beg him to come and clean the driveway. (1st time). He came by himself with a hand shovel and did the job. After many snowfalls later, he never showed up again and I had to contract another company to finish the season.
Can't contact or find the guy! Imagine. Preying on old women!

Arcane services guaranteed that the crack on my driveway would be repaired and that my driveway would be sealed. Within 3 days, the crack came back and the "seal" started to wear off on the bottoms of our shoes. We made numerous calls and left messages to the company, to no avail. When I finally got a hold of someone (5 weeks later) they said that someone would be by within 24 hours. it is now 2 weeks later and no one is returning our calls again. I would never, ever recommend this company to ANYONE and will be sure to investigate any company that I decide to hire again. What a shame, a crying shame!

Here we go again! In the past 3 years every snow contractor I have hired took my money and ran. Arcane is a surprise in as much they have been around for a number of years. They came to my home, collected the check, came only once to remove snow and that's it. Never heard another word. People like this will eventually get what is coming to them.

Agree that Arcane takes your money and don't provide the service. I have paid for lawn care last Summer and they showed up in May and I haven't seen them for the rest of the season. I have phoned many times, went to their office in Orleans, but nothing has changed. I finally got fed up and sent them a registered letter to get my money back. The letter was returned to me a couple of weeks later by the post office. I have now gathered all my paperwork to take them to court (small claims), but the above comment is right, it appears they have moved or closed business as the office on St-Joseph Blvd in Orleans is no longer identified as Arcane Services. I will have to do some research to see where they hide now. If someone knows, plse share the info.

My story is almost identical to that of Macassa Circle above. I paid money for lawn cutting and snow removal. The lawn cutting service was poor - I paid for weekly but the lawn was cut only twice per month until July, then once per month. They repeatedly missed a section and did not respond to my complaints. As for the snow removal, it just has not happened. As I write this, there have been five snowfalls in Kanata but Arcane has not shown up at all. They seldom answer their phone and when they do, they simply say that they will take care of it. They have not responded to any of my voice mails. There are many complaints about Arcane on the Ottawa BBB site. My recent letter sent to the above address (St Joseph Blvd) was returned to sender. It appears that they may have gone out of business.

This company should not be allowed to continue to operate. They take your money and don't provide the services. I agree that neighbours need to be warned. Announcements on mail boxes may help but I think that legal action needs to be taken from a large group of all that have been affected.

I wish more people would complain about Arcane. Worst service I've ever paid for. We're too "Canadian" and don't like to complain or raise a fuss. Meanwhile, more of our neighbours are going to get ripped off.
