When I was in the National Guard, I had a debt with AAFES military star card and the payments were paid through my drill pays. The deducted the debt payment every drill until was paid off. Now the IRS want to collect the payment again, and wants to offset 15% of my social security check. That's unfair because the debt is already paid. I've been trying to...

Aafes Chase Military Star Overcharging and Incorrect Credit Reporting

Got a MilitaryStar around August of 2008. First statement was $17. Paid $50. Second was $18. Paid $50. Third statement was also very low, paid $200. Statements when logged on to site, because of large advance payments said "Minum due: $0." Actual baglogs statements show different numbers than ones when logging onto their site. We did not know this--their online banking is very flawed!

Was unable to log onto website. Went abroad for two months. Statements still said $0 due when logged on in February. They finally said $11.78 due, but then closed our account due to "no payments for 90 days."

They then sent letters saying "pay your bill by (this date) or we will notify your command."

Paid by date as said, they still notified command. This happened three times in a row. They continued to charge finance charges, ignored our questions and complaints, and left TWO past due 90 days marks on our credit. This was devastating to a young couple trying to build credit.

We then paid off the card in its entirety in October 2009. Even though the account was closed, even "username and password not found" on their site, they reopened the account to charge us another finance charge. We had no idea. Then in December, command was notified and we were threatened to have our pay docked. A call to MilitaryStar (same day, today December 11) said that should not have happened and they would correct it. Request of email as evidence of this promise was declined. MilitaryStar rep offered no liability as proof that issue would be handled. From this experience, I doubt they will.
