I find the customer service, and overall responsiveness of Provident Funding quite abhorrent. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and in particular, find their Customer Service Supervisor Chris Porter to an incredibly unprofessional employee. Craig Pica is the president and you can try emailing him at [protected]@providentfunding.com

I will take my business to an ethical, well functioning organization rather than work with Provident Funding.

I was amazed to received termination email yesterday 2/25. please see attached the detail of the email.
I am broker and partner with Provident Funding, I make a few loan last year with your company due to my terrible AE I deal with and difficulty customer service also. Therefore I real carefully to bring the purchase loan through your company, My most deal purchase and refinance loan with other lender. Recently I find out your San Bruno branch change team leader, I just plan to make big refinance loan to your company.
The email I received yesterday totally blowing my plan. I phone call the San Bruno branch manager this morning, try to understand the reason to terminate my company.
Do you know what his response on the phone? He is not directly answer my question about Violation to Broker Policy. He directly told me that terminate my company due to I ask elementary question and cause high cost of maintenance.
Then I ask him what kinds question is consider elementary question, he give example about I ask the question about what different between purchase and refinance. I never ask this question. He did not have enough reason to answer my question, then he start bully on me. He said I cannot work for provide funding company anymore.
When I am try to call other branch to see if I can work for other branch in CA, he said you are out of the provide funding company any branch. I feel this is seriously and terrible decision on my company. I keep ask the question why termite my company, he said he don't have time to answer me. I fell this manager is quite abhorrent. He even told me on the phone said our conversation also count his high maintenance cost. This is typically elementary school bully behavior on my such small company. Your big size company noticed your partner kind of judgment about life time die on the relationship.
What kinds of team leader or head of Provident Funding corporation?
I work at Real Estate over 17 years, I close 15 loan last year with other lender. Do you believed I can ask elementary question? Through the conversation with him, I can tell following character for his management behavior:
a. He is not good nature or personal character (no appear empathy with partner or customer).
b. Very no confidence and easy lose the trust ability to customer. (he said example)
c. He over show up his authorities and dominantly to small partner company like me.
I fell he is bully on me, he said to me don't call other branch. He even count my conversation with him about 2 minutes, then he said to me this is high maintenance for him.
d. He cannot solve the problem and make complicate problem with your company partner.

today is 11/5/2014--Provident refinanced our home-closing date 3/10/2010--deed;/title was supposed to be to Kevin & Pamela +++ held as husband and wife. 4 1/2 yrs later the deed was never executed. I have made 2 trips to the courthouse, deed never recorded although I paid at closing for deed prep and recording fees. have called (4 times) and written twice/ Today, supposedly they have a deed in our name as husband and wife and will send it out to me today-should be here in a few days according to customer service person Daniel. will let you know. 2 other employees told me the deed was never executed. hmmmmmmm-next step the banking commissioner and state attorney general. have waited 4 1/2 yrs for them to fix their mistake--I will not waste any more time with them but go to a higher power

I highly recommend to all people thinking of taking a loan out with Provident Funding to never dial their number. I just tried to reset my mortgage with this company, nobody returns phone calls so don't bother leaving one, then they have customer service reps giving you incorrect information and when you finally do get a hold of someone that knows the correct information, they charge you a $100 late fee that no matter how wrong they are from their end, they will never waive. Learn from my experience and don't waste your time with Provident Funding.

Customer service for this company is about the worst I have ever dealt with. I really wish we had gone with a different company. Fortunately, we are not like the 6 million people losing their homes. We have tried to make extra payments to them. They have misapplied every single one of them and getting them to reverse them and make it correct has been nearly an act of congress. My loan amount is still not correct. Don't expect managers to return your calls. Don't expect the phone numbers or extensions they give you to be the correct numbers. Just don't expect much at all from this company, except for them to try to take you for every penny they can.

Thank you for all the info provided here -- Provident never cashed a payment we sent for January, refuses to waive the late fee and threatens to damage our credit rating. I have just used the link provided on this page to file a complaint with the FTC and am working next on a complaint to the California Atty General and to my own Atty General here in Virginia. Game on, Provident

be careful with this company! they charge you late fee no matter whatever causes it. the Customer Service would ask you send a waiver request and at the same time tell you that you would not get waived. If you had the same experience, please try to submit a complaint with Consumer Federation of California and at the same time get a loan somewhere else. There are a lot of businesses there which are doing better than this one.

I agree with everyone on here. They do not care about the customer. Tried to make an early payment for part of my payment (to try to cut down on a little interst) and then paid the rest 2 weeks later and they returned the money to me stating they cannot take partial payments. What a joke! What century are they living in. Not only that, I received the payment back on the 14th of the month. Guess what, if I don't want to incur a late payment I have to use their automated payment center that charges you $15 which they will not refund because its charged by Western Union. Again, what kind of business is this not to have better technologies with what is available today. Cannot get rid of these bozos fast enough!

I think that calling their corporate offices and complaining to every who answers a phone is a good start. Call provident funding corporate offices at [protected]. Fisrt dial extension 3601, then 3602, then 3603, and so on. Wasting corporate officers time may not get you money back, but will cost Provident funding money. Good Luck, Provident Funding is a horrible company.

Provident Funding does not care about you as a customer. I too, did not have a choice. My mortgage was sold to Provident Funding. I had problems with them from day one. They are unresponsive, unfeeling, uncaring, and unethical! If you are financed through Provident Funding, PRAY that you don't have any problems.

This is just a trash lender! I locked a deal rate one month ago but this trash lender failed to close my refinance. Now I have to search for a new broker to do the refiance. The rate has gone up so much within the past 45 days and I have to pay 0.5% more on my mortgage. I plan to sue this company. Let me knwo if there is any good atterney who can take care of this case. I would BBB it, too.

'wronged' by this Co.

BUYER BEWARE! We have had a loan with this Co. for several years-- not our choice, but through the action of them purchasing it from the previous lender. In January, we began talking to different mortgage brokers for the purpose of making cost comparisons on a re-finance. It wasn't until we went online to access our private account for a 'payoff statement' that we discovered several 'mystery' charges. When we inquired of Provident, we learned that they had taken the liberty to allow "third parties" to access our "private account" (which we, the borrower, have to use a password to access). When their "third party" friends request a document (this without our knowledge or authorization), Provident adds a fee to OUR balance each time they get a hit. In other words, they've figured out a nice little way to profit from this. Provident won't admit it, but their process is flawed and unethical!

I wish I had read these comments before my mortgage broker got me involved with this horrible company! I was hoping that my nightmare would come to end if and when these idiots fund my loan, but reading these comments are very disheartening. I was actually promised by one of the people in the broker's office that Provident would sell my loan to investors, but I guess I won't be that lucky. If they actually fund my loan.

I think it's time people sent complaints to their State Attorney General about this company. I've had similar problems with this shyster company and it's time Provident and R. Craig Pica (CEO) enjoy some legal action. By the way, several "Pica" family members are involved with this company along with Michelle Blake, the CFO.

In case you're interested, they provide financial support to the Republican Party. From their website, they state, "Provident Funding's primary customers are mortgage brokers and mortgage loan investors". The complainants are NOT their customers, so Provident treats individuals like dirt. Provident Funding Associates, L.P., also does business as Provident Funding Group, Inc., Provident Home Loans and PFG Loans, Inc. (collectively "PF"). They have filed 10-K reports with the SEC and their headquarters address is: 1633 Bayshore Hwy Ste 155, Burlingame, CA [protected].

Write your state's Attorney General with your information and visit the FTC’s online Complaint Assistant (https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/)or call 1-877-FTC-HELP [protected]). Don't let these people get away with YOUR money.

I had my mortgage payment returned to me because it was late. (twice) "I had not paid the late fee!" That's the reason they gave me.
I have been trying to get a loan modification since January and no luck. They don't care if I go into foreclosure...I can't get anywhere with them. I keep struggling to make my payments and they just won't work with me.

The "loan officer " keeps jerking me around telling me he has no information on the new laws.

I too have had issues with Provident and their late fees being improperly assessed. It seems that they are not consistent in how they apply late fees at all. I know that they are a bit rough around the edges but this is bordering on unethical and illegal.

I concur. What a fly by night outfit. They the most ignorant employee that do not know their own process of handling payments and postings to the account.
Their posting delay will force you to pay fees and they will threaten to distroy your credit by reporting to credit agencies.
Basically, their error will cost you your credit record.

I concur Soliel!
It's unfortunate I did not do research on this company prior to signing the paperwork - after decades of mortgages and as a Realtor, I've never had such an issue.

I was recently involved with an issue that Provident did not pay insurance from escrow. The resolution from an ill-mannered Provident agent (Annie) was not a solution nor did it involve a possibility of closure (notifying the customer that it's been resolved).
I went ahead and did her job for her trying to get her to work towards a solution for the problem and when it was obvious that closure was not in her manual; complaining about the service (or lack there of) was necessary.

When complaining about her service - "Chris Porter" could not find any issues with the call. And now we know why Customer Service 101 is missing from Provident Funding - although who knows how far up the chain it goes.

I can only be hopeful that Provident will sell my loan, although fortunately litigation is certainly an option should they continue to not pay from escrow.

Avoiding this company will save you time and money.
