Once I logged into my wallet on one of the payment systems, I received a message that went something like this: "[protected]@@@ have transferred 500 dollars to your account by mistake. Please, return this money to him. Your account will be frozen until you return the money." I noticed that the amount of money in my account was actually 500$ more than it should be, so I decided to do as they asked and send back the 500$. Thank goodness this payment system recently introduced a two-factor authentication service by Protectimus. I had to use the Protectimus Smart Android app to receive a one-time password. When I entered this password, a warning about a hacker's attack immediately popped up, and the 500$ remained in its rightful place. Later, I read about these modern hacker techniques where the information displayed on the user's screen doesn't match the actual information. This is the method that could have easily trapped me.

I made this platform for tradin' stuff from different computer games, ya know?

At first, everythin' was goin' smooth, but after 'bout six months, when my clients and bots had a bunch of valuable items, a whole bunch of account hackin' started happenin'. Them scammers were gettin' their hands on the emails with codes that my system sent to the users. They were sneaky, creatin' fake websites that looked like mine and trickin' users into signin' in and givin' away their login info to those fraudsters. It was a mess, I tell ya. So, I knew I had to beef up the security of my platform and find a way to keep those unauthorized folks out.

That's when I stumbled upon Protectimus. Let me tell ya, it was just what I needed. And boy, did it turn out to be the right choice. The Protectimus team helped me set up their on-premises platform right in my server room and connect it to my service. I went with the on-premises option 'cause sometimes I needed to shut down the system for auctions and trades without any outside interference, ya know?

Now, every user has this Protectimus app on their phones, and they can log into their accounts by generatin' these one-time passwords that can't be snatched by those sneaky scammers.

What I like the best is that their support was pretty helpful. They were ready to discuss all my concerns and leaded me during all intergration period.

It also was the only company, that was actually intersted in me as a client. At least this is the way i felt. I used to work with Vasco for about a year, before our company decided to switch 2FA provider. And I felt like they did not want to assist me at all, when I called. I always heard only 'You can check it on our site yourself' and bla-bla. So this company(Protectimus) was very fresh and enjoiable expereince for me.

They also have this pretty useful feature: you may have two(or even more) security levels for different groups of users. For example, for administrators and average employee.

I never thought about it, but it actually is pretty convenient. You don`t have to block account if any employee just entered OTP incorrectly several times. But if someone would try to get access to account of the top-management representatives, it surely is useful to block account immediately.

Maybe I have some concerns since the company is not such a huge player on the market. Till now it have not affected my work with them, but still it`s not a Vasco or RSA, you know.

If you are looking for solution easy-to-use and easy-to-integrate 2 factor authentication solution then go ahead.

Google Authenticator is so secure that I couldn't recover my two-factor authentication settings after hard resetting my phone. It was really difficult to regain access to some accounts, and some remained locked forever. Now, I'm not convinced of the actual benefits of this app. I've also read that authentication apps can be vulnerable to viruses. So, I made up my mind that I no longer want to use my phone for two-factor authentication. It's just not secure to receive PINs via SMS or emails. I was almost at my wit's end trying to find new ways to protect my accounts.

Then, I stumbled upon physical devices called tokens. I was intrigued and discovered that not many companies manufacture their own tokens, and not all of them are compatible with the services I need to safeguard. For instance, you can purchase tokens from companies like Vasco, Gemalto, SafeNet, RSA, but these won't help you protect your Google or Coinbase account, among others.

However, there are tokens like Protectimus Slim Tokens available. These hardware devices are advertised as a substitute for Google Authenticator. Intrigued, I decided to order one to test it with my Google account. It's compact, generates one-time passwords independently without requiring an internet connection, and I appreciate the fact that I'll be immediately alerted if someone tries to steal it. It's a shame that each token can only be used with one account, and the setup process requires an Android smartphone with NFC. Since I use an iPhone, I had to seek assistance from a friend. Nevertheless, it's a secure option, and the price is reasonable when compared to other similar products.

I've only been using this token for two weeks, so I haven't encountered any negative aspects yet. I would greatly appreciate it if someone who has been using tokens for a longer period could share their own opinion about the Slim Token.

So, I wanted to share my experience implementing 2FA in my company's infrastructure. We deal with databases from big insurance companies, so keeping personal data secure is a top priority for us. We decided to go with their SaaS solution because we didn't have time to set up authentication servers or configure firewalls. It took a bit of time to integrate everything (shoutout to my developer for the Java SDK), but the Protectimus development team was there every step of the way, answering all our questions and providing great support.

To cut costs, we opted for software in-app tokens and OTP delivery through chat-bots in messaging apps. However, we also ordered 20 hardware tokens (Protectimus Two) for those employees who preferred not to use their smartphones for authentication.
