I’m neutral to this complaint, but the “No returns” policy makes sense. I understand that Mattress Warehouse does not accept merchandise back, and I think this is a great practice. This way, when I come into the store, I know for a fact that I am not going to get a pillow or a mattress that someone else had possession of before me. I would never purchase a mattress from a place like Walmart knowing that they will allow you to return personal items. We all know that as long as it’s in sellable condition, they will just put it right back on the shelf and someone else will purchase it. Nothing wrong with Walmart, but when it comes to bedding, I tend to go to other places. I feel comfortable going into a Mattress Warehouse and getting a new sleep set, or pillows knowing that no one put their dirty face on it, or slept on it for only a day. But all things aside, I bought a Simmons from them about 3 months ago, and they did have a sign saying “No returns” and it was also written on the bottom of my invoice that was given to me.
And it’s weird, but when I went to check out the BBB ratings for Mattress Warehouse by going to the same link that was provided, they had a rating of “A” so I don’t know where the “F” came from, but they sure know how to make customers sleep well.
I’m not an employee of the Mattress Warehouse Company, nor have I ever bought a mattress from their store. I just own a small printing business and to me it seems that the mattress I bought over 10 years ago still suits me just fine. I just wanted to add a comment to the complaint regarding a verbal agreement.
Mattress Warehouse may have promised you one thing or another, but unless it was written down on the contract, common sense would tell you that it’s not part of the agreement. However, it works both ways. If the sales person would have mistakenly written that you had a 30 day exchange guarantee on the contract, I’m sure you would be able to return it, because you have it in writing on the contract. Were else in this world can you go to a store or dealership, agree on a purchase, get it in writing and then come back a few days later and expect something different then what was written on your contract? I could see them giving you something like pillows that might have not been on the contract or bed sheets.. but something like switching out a bed.. I don’t see how they would honor the verbal agreement. I didn’t even think beds could be returned.
If you look at it from a Corporation’s point of view, there is no way for anyone to know what was said at the time of purchase and at the time the contract was written up. That’s where they saying came about “he said, she said.”The only thing that can be used is what was written on the contract at the time of purchase. One other thing I noticed was that they do have an “A” with the BBB (http://www.bbb.org/greater-maryland/business-reviews/mattresses/mattress-warehouse-corporate-office-in-frederick-md-8010016 ), so it would seem that they must be doing something right. I would like to end my comment with a thought..
If you owned a business and customers told you on a regular basis: “the last guy told me…” wouldn’t you put in place some kind of policy that keeps them from doing that?
This almost sounds like the banks are going through hard times and they are looking for ways to make profit. I got a similar latter from a bank too, it was a bank that is well known too "Wells Fargo." They told me that they would take all my bills from any other bank consolidate it and give me a guaranteed 14%. Sounded pretty good, but almost like a scam. I thought about it and decided to give them a call.
They told me that I was pre-approved for this and I just had to give them proof that I was who I claimed to be.. So about 20 minutes into it I started realizing that they are trying to pre-screen me and I said "wasn’t I approved?" they said "yea, we just need to ask you a few questions." After about half an hour of random security questions, they put me on hold. Well, when they came back, they just told me that I was denied and they will send me a letter explaining why. When the letter came, it stated that I already owe too much money to the credit card companies and that they cant approve me.. But wasn’t this whole thing supposed to be a consolidation transaction? Didn’t they know that I had a lot of money on credit cards.. So I was trying to combine it all into one?

FIRST OFF, I LOOKED INTO THIS COMPANY AND ITS NOT A FRANCHISE, AND 2ND.. ALL THESE PEOPLE THAT HAVE COMPLAINES ARE ACTING LIKE CHILDREN. THEY GO TO A MARRTESS STORE, BUY IT, SLEEP ON IT FOR A WEEK AND THEN DECIDE THAT THEY DONT LIKE IT AND EXPECT A REFUND.. REALLY? SO EVERYONE BLAMES MATTRESS WAREHOUSE FOR THEIR POLICYS, BUT NONE OF YOU MIND SLEEPING ON A MATTRESS FROM ROOMS STORE OR DISCOUNTERS, OR SLEEPYS THAT EXCEPT RETURNS AND SELL IT TO THE NEXT CUSTOMER? WOW, I THINK IT’S KINDA DISGUSTING THAT YOU WOULD EVEN CONSIDER USING A PERSONAL ITEM THAT SOMEONE ELSE HAS USED AND BE HAPPY WITH IT.
IT’S LIKE WHEN I WALK INTO VICTORIA SECRETS AND SEE ALL THE GIRLS TRYING ON UNDERWEAR THAT ANOTHER GIRL JUST PUT BACK.. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD? IM A GUY, AND I ONLY BUY BOXERS IF THEY ARE SEALED IN A PLASTIC WRAP. I JUST THINK ABOUT IT SOMETIMES, HOW MANY GIRLS PUT ON THOSE UNDERWEAR UNTILL ONE OF THEM ACTUALLY BUY IT. I'VE DONE SOME SHOPPING AROUND BEFORE AND MATTRESS WAREHOUSE DOES HAVE SOME ODDLY RUN STORES, BUT THAT’S JUST LIKE ANY STORE IN THE WORLD THAT HAD MORE THEN A FEW LOCATIONS. BUT WHEN I SEE PEOPLE WRITE ABOUT COMFORT EXCHANGES, OR THEY WOULDNT LET THEM RETURN A MATTRESS.. IT MAKES ME SICK.
I GUESS THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT DONT MIND WEARING PERSONAL ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN WORN FOR ONLY A FEW DAYS.. SO THEY WANT THE SAME OPTION WHEN GETTING A MATTRESS. YOU PEOPLE ARE NASTY. THAT’S WHY THERE ARE SO MANY NASTY DESEASED IN THIS WORLS.
I agree, SEARS is run by a bunch of high school kids and interns that know nothing about cars. I asked a mechanic if they did alignments and he said of course. Then I specifically asked him if they do camber correction with toes OR JUST TOES.. He said "yea we do it all"
I went in, waited about 2 hrs on a Wednesday morning.. It’s quite the wait when i was the first one scheduled for that day. Well i have a Lexus is 300 and when i got the print out, my jaw dropped. They got all 4 toes in the green, but its not even in the 90 degree mark, it just barely falls into the green, and as for camber, all 4 in the red. (The before and after) they didn’t even touch the camber and he told me that they do camber and toes. As i drove off, it felt ok, but as soon as i get to 45mph+ the steering wheel pulls and it vibrates.. a waste of my $80, and now i need to find another place that can adjust camber. I just replaced the control arms, so I was disappointed with SEARS~
I agree with "wheelguy", I’m a mechanic too, and I agree with everything he said. We had a lady that was recorded by another customer be accidently, (he was recording his little toddler playing while he waited). The store manager told a lady it’s a $90 Diagnosis fee, if they find the problem and fix it, they would waive the diagnosis fee, but if she just wants the diagnosis its $90. This was all recorded by a 3rd party(another customer) well after it was inspected and they found that her rotors are warped and her pads are down to the metal, and her right caliper was damaged and needed replacement, she said ok, I’ll just pick up the car, . I don’t want it done right now. She was presented with a bill of $90 and she swore to her "GOD" that she told it was going to be free. The manager told her over 3 times exactly what he said to her, I was there too, and she kept on swearing to her god. I guess the other customer got tired of listening and just said he had it all recorded and he played the video of his son playing, but the audio of the verbal agreement. She cussed up a storm and said that she was never coming here again and she was going to report this online... WOW, the manager was going to do a nice thing foe her and waive the diagnosis if she got the work done in his shop, but she went out to screw him even out of the diagnosis fee..
I love the little comment about thhe Hybrid cars. lol
But on a more serious note, the customers are Idiots. if a battery dies on you while driving, its either your alternator or belt that may have been stretched over time and is not the corrent lenght anymore and is causing possible slip at times and not charging properly. they probably left their lights on in the car. a bad battery will not become good after a charge. someimes a slow charge may give you another year, but once its low on amps its time to replace. I have a BMW and im a mechanic, I love listening to music in my car, and i hate wasting gas, so a few years ago i used to come to work, and listen to music with the car off.. I figured it would only drain a little power, and once i drove it later that day, it would just charge back up.. well i was wrong, listening to music 10 minutes every morning for maybe 3 months killed the battery. Im a great mechanic, so im told, so i figured i can just charge it.. well i did, it seemed ok, but next morning, there were not enough amps to get the car started.. for the people reading this and dont know about cars..(my car had 12.5 volts which is great, but it had about 100~CCA AND I THINK MY CAR NEEDS LIke 750CCA) so then i thought i need to do a slow charge, and when i got to work, i did, the battery got a nice 9hr chargem, it had about 500 cca, and 12.5 volts. so the car started up and i went home that day. guess what, next morning it was low on amps again so i just ordered a new batt. FYI BMW battery- $175.00 +tax, but after i got the new battery, it worked great.
If your battery is 2 years old and its dead, thats your fault for leaving on lights, leaving doors not fully closed which leave the lights on in the car. or maybe just listening to music with the car off. most likely though, it might have just been a belt or alternator, .
I agree with C&C,
the customers these days will do anything just to get a replacement or anything else for free. They feel that they have so many rights living in the USA that they comfortably screw a business over because they think that businesses make so much money that 1 or 2 customers won’t change anything. I work for a mattress company too and I know how customers call all the time and claim that the mattress is defective. Also I've seen customer cut their own mattress and swear it was defective so they can reselect. What is this world coming to? If businesses were really taking money and sending out junk.. How long would they last? It’s the customers that write on the websites are the scammers, and they just didn’t get it their way.
soo... what actually happened with the wells fargo?
it seems like they charged your account a late payment fee? that about all I can understand.
If thats the case, I agree. There should be some grace period. but all banks work the same way. It dosnt matter who you chose, if your late you get a fee..I have PNC in MD, and i've been late once in my life and that waived it, but had i not called.. the fee was like $32.
just make payments online and no one is to blame.
I was also told that if you dont have the money right away, you can call customer service and let them know ahead of time, send what you have and they can work something out.
You’re so stupid, a typical uneducated customer. Where were you brought up? ALASKA? or maybe Afghanistan?
The stores sell the merchandise, they don’t make it. Also, the warranty is with the manufacturer, not the STORE. What you did was ignorant.
You were losing sales for the store, so the store manager or someone probably decided to eat the cost of a mattress in order for you not to kill the store reputation.
You were supposed to contact the manufacturer and dispute it with them.
Its like you trying to sue the dealer or the body shop that installs, let say a headlight. And 2 months later you claim the headlight is not as bright, you don’t go back to the shop and blame him for selling it to you. If the manufacturer says its normal then you take it up with the manufacturer. You don’t sit in from of the dealership with signs protesting.. this goes back to the uneducated part..
My 2 cents
I worked for aflac for a year in marriottsvile, and i enjoyed making big $$$, but i got to the point were i was seeing these poor old people that im trained to enroll and seeing their struggling eyes.. I want teveryone to know that AFLAC IS A SCAM.
We are trained to tell people about fake claims, and FAKe insidences that supposedly occured "the last holiday" and everyone is trained to say the same thing, so people start to think about it amd we hand out fake diagrams and fake previous claims that the potential customers start believing after a preasuring presentation..
so a lot of people end up signing up a for that we are telling will not be submitted untill we get an answer the next day, but the agents enter it anyway and make it all finalized.
then they are telling everyone that due to an irs law, they can not cancel for a year and they are locked in. these customers try to get out, but they are locked in because they employer is worried about the irs laws and does not let them get out of it. their only way out it through termination..
PEOPLE, IVE been there, and DONE THIS
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I DONT KNOW HOW TO MAKE THIS MORE CLEAR
they pay out, but 80% of the things are not covered once it actually occurs.
and yes some people do get a nice payout, but that was a 1 time case in the year that i worked there, and bu the way, I worked in the STATE headquarters and out office was #1 in thge country.
sorry for the grammer erroe, just typing on a lunch break at my new office job.
