Wow, The Grooming Spot just made things worse, I'm afraid.

First of all, no matter how upset and irate your customer is, a business should never behave like you just did. Not good for business! Second, you should not base your payoff on how the customer behaved but on your performance. Third, you don't seem to know if the poster spoke to the owner or not, so who exactly are you?

If a customer asked for a cut you could not perform, you should have said so right then and there. Period. Furthermore, just because a dog has matted fur is no excuse for such severe cuts and razor burn that it needs veterinary treatement. I had a dog with mats once; the groomer was able to shave them off without knicking, cutting or hurting my dog.

Take your own advice and think about how you are acting: it is not professional and will not attract customers.

Sincere condolences for your loss. Words cannot convey the pain of losing a loved one. I'm truly so sorry for the needless grief you and your dog have had to go through.

These kinds of scams appear all too often. I suspect there isn't even a real dog. You were wise not to send money.

Sorry about your dog. Quite honestly, $800 in vet bills for that type of accident is pretty cheap.

File a police report for starters. Then file a complaint with the BBB. You can take them to small claims without the cost of an attorney, so don't let them bluff you.

Good luck!
At least use up your in store credit!

When will people stop buying dogs from pet stores? They sell puppy mill dogs, many of which are not healthy.

In all fairness, you can't expect the pet store to refund your money and let you keep the dog. Unless your contract includes provisions for a vet examination, they are sold as-is.

Sorry your puppy has a problem. Don't give the puppy back to the store; you're right, they'll just put it down. But you might as well forget about getting any money out of them. When you buy a puppy, you assume all liability for it. They don't owe for the surgery.

STOP BUYING DOGS FROM PET STORES!

I'm sorry about what happened to your puppy, but pet stores buy dogs from puppy mills and many of them are sick, so this is really about what you can expect.

Go to a shelter. Find a reputable breeder. Just stay away from the pet store unless you're buying your dog a leash.

There most likely never was a dog. This is a common scam. They play on the sympathies of kind people like you. Rest your mind that there is probably no dog suffering. It's just a scam to get your cash. Sorry you got snared.

I don't understand why you took them in when you were lining up adopters..? Unfortunately, once you dump pets at a shelter, you have no control over what happens to them. I feel sorry for the cats. I hope you don't get any more pets.
So sorry to hear about your dog. I know that nothing they do can bring him back. They sound totally irresponsible. Thanks for the warning.

Did you report them to the consumer protection agency for bait and switch?

Bob doesn't keep regular hours? What kind of way is that to run a business? I hope you report them. Are you able to contest the charges with your credit card company?

You already figured it out: puppy mill.

Hopefully, your puppy is healthy now and will grow up to be adjusted and happy in a loving home.

You've gone to them for 13 years even though you haven't been happy with them? Or is that something new?

Too many pet stores treat living, breathing animals as disposable commodities. People need to stop buying pets from pet stores. I hope you kept the kitten and that it's well now.
I would never adopt a pet that was co-owned by anyone else, rescue or not. Is this common? There's another complaint here that indicates a rescue organization (White Paws) wanted a lot of control and even threatened to take back a dog out of spite, not because it wasn't being taken care of.

It is very suspicious if anyone refuses to let you see the contract ahead of time. You were wise to ask for it.

This group just seems shady all around: telling you at the last minute that you had to adopt two, not sending you the contract, suddenly "UNapproving" you...

It's a shame you fell in love with the dogs and got disappointed, but you really may have dodged a bullet if this is the way they behave.
Totally agreed with Melissa. Puppy mills should be run out of business and most reputable breeders breed purebred dogs, not mixed dogs.

Never buy a dog from a pet store; most come from puppy mills.

How is the puppy now?

It's difficult to buy dogs from a distance when you haven't seen where they live. You're lucky you were able to go get your dog; many people simply lose their money.

I hope your dog is ok.

I'm sorry for your loss. Pet Smart doesn't seem to have a good reputation. Maybe next time you can find a pet sitter..?

This is a very common scam. Any time money is laundered through places like Cameroon, you know it's a scam. Sorry you got caught, but there were red flags along the way.
Funny that you pulled all the outdated products off the shelf! Got to keep 'em honest!
OMG, I am so sorry for your loss! How utterly heartbreaking! But thank you for trying to warn others and make a change that might save other animals. Bless you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog's seizures. I hope she has recovered. There seem to be a lot of similar stories cropping up about flea treatments. I wonder if there has been a study or report about them.

Good luck!
I have no sympathy for a vet complaining about college tuition. You knew those charges going in and had options, but it is no excuse for gouging customers or for poor service & attitude.

But you certainly did make this person's case for a callous vet's office!

The vets I've been to would have looked at the dog for no charge as part of a follow-up visit. If further treatment was needed, it probably would have cost, but they would have looked at a dog they had treated for free if the problem persisted.

Read the complaints on here; there are many bad reports on Petsmart, so next time you'll know better.

Hope your husband and your dog are better now. Good luck!

Is this a pet store or a rescue or what?
