Pentagon Federal Credit Union PenFed Credit Card Rewards Are Great, But Website is Painfully Slow

Been with PenFed for a hot minute now, mostly because their credit card rewards are better than most. But let me tell you, trying to get on their website is like watching paint dry. It's slow as molasses and I swear it's like we're back in the days of dial-up modems. I've complained about it before, but they just tell me to clear my browsing history and all that jazz. Like, come on, man. Can't you just fix the dang thing?

Pentagon Federal Credit Union PenFed Credit Union Review: Competitive Rates, Excellent Customer Service, and Convenient Online Banking

PenFed Credit Union is a great place to do your banking. They offer a variety of services that can help you with your financial needs. I have been a member for a few years now and have never had any issues with them. Their customer service is top-notch and they are always willing to help you out with any questions or concerns you may have.

One of the things I love about PenFed is their low-interest rates on loans. I was able to get a car loan through them at a much lower rate than I would have gotten at a traditional bank. This saved me a lot of money in the long run. They also offer credit cards with great rewards programs that can help you earn cashback or travel rewards.

Another great thing about PenFed is their online banking system. It is easy to use and allows you to do everything from checking your account balance to transferring funds between accounts. They also have a mobile app that makes banking on the go a breeze.

Overall, I highly recommend PenFed Credit Union to anyone looking for a great banking experience. They offer competitive rates, excellent customer service, and a variety of services to meet your financial needs. Give them a try and see for yourself why they are one of the best credit unions out there.

Pentagon Federal Credit Union Penfed Credit Union Review: Slow Loans, Decent App & Customer Service

I live in San Francisco and I gotta say, I need an app that doesn't take forever to load. Penfed is just too conservative with their loans. I've been with them for four years and I've always been in good standing, but when I had an 800+ credit score, they still couldn't give me their best loan terms! Like, seriously? There are other places to get loans and credit cards from that aren't stuck in the dark ages like Penfed. I've told my techie friends about this and they just laugh at how stupid this Credit Union is. Even the robots are laughing at how slow this place runs! It's a total joke.

But in all honesty, Penfed isn't all bad. They do have some good features, like their mobile app. It's not the fastest, but it gets the job done. And their customer service is pretty decent too. They're always polite and helpful when I call in with questions or issues.

One thing that really bugs me though is how long it takes for them to process things. Like, I applied for a loan and it took them forever to get back to me. And when they finally did, they couldn't give me the best terms. It's frustrating, you know?

Overall, I'd say Penfed is okay. They're not the best, but they're not the worst either. If you're looking for a Credit Union that's a little more modern and up-to-date, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you don't mind waiting a little longer for things to process, then Penfed might be a good fit for you.

Pentagon Federal Credit Union Warning: Stay Away from PenFed for Car Refinancing - Terrible Experience and Customer Service

I gotta tell ya, folks, I had a real bad experience with Pentagon Federal Credit Union (penfed.org). I tried to refinance my car with them and it was a complete disaster. They made me miserable, I'm telling you. If you're thinking about going with PenFed, don't do it for your own good. They won't send you any documents or anything, and they'll just destroy you. I'm warning you, stay away!

I've had my car for four years now and because of some miscommunication with PenFed, they put a delinquent mark on my credit report for the first time in my life. And get this, yesterday I found out they changed my payment without even telling me! They put some insurance on me and changed my monthly payment without any warning. I hate this company, I really do. And don't even get me started on the customer service lady. She wouldn't even let me speak!

Honestly, I regret refinancing my car with PenFed. I'm full of regrets ever since I started dealing with these people. So take my advice, folks, and stay far away from Pentagon Federal Credit Union.

Pentagon Federal Credit Union PenFed CD Rates are Sweet, but Beware of Secret Transfer Limits

I've been a customer of PenFed for a while now and I gotta say, their CD rates are pretty sweet. I've bought CDs from them multiple times and they always offer some of the best rates in the whole country. Sure, some of their processes might seem a little old-fashioned, but that's just part of their charm, right?

But let me tell you, there's one thing that really grinds my gears about PenFed. And that's their secret transfer limits. Can you believe it? They actually limit how much of YOUR money you can transfer out of your account. And get this, the employees know what the limit is, but they're not allowed to tell us customers! What's up with that?

Well, I did some digging and found out that the secret transfer limit is $30,000 per month, and it resets on the 13th of each month. But that's not all. They also have not-so-secret limits. For me, the limit was $5000 per day. Now, depending on how much money you have in your CD, it can take a loooong time to get it all out of PenFed, unless you wire the money out.

Now, normally I'd give PenFed a lower rating for this kind of shenanigans. But I gotta say, one of their employees really went above and beyond to help me out. They had a great attitude and were super helpful, so I'm giving them 4 stars. But seriously, PenFed, you gotta be more transparent about this stuff.

Pentagon Federal Credit Union Warning: Stay Away from Pentagon Federal Credit Union - Terrible Conditions and Slow Account Closure

I gotta say, I'm not too happy with Pentagon Federal Credit Union. If I could give them zero stars, I totally would. I mean, watch out for their conditions, folks! It's taking them forever to close my account. It's been over two weeks and I still can't get my money. I got two CDs with them and I need the money, so I gotta close both of them. But they don't tell you that if you gotta break it before the term, you lose all the interest. And if it's over 365 days, they charge you not only all the dividends and interest you made, but also the amount you would have made for the term of the CD. So now it's eating into my principal!

I had money transferred from another bank into their savings account and then opened a CD with it. But now I can't get my money back for 60 days until the money has been transferred into an account with them for at least 60 days. I mean, come on! Who does that? I'm so fed up. Every time I call or send an email, they tell me to wait another 10 business days. It's like they don't care about my money at all.

So, I'm just warning all of you out there, do not put your money in Penfed! They're just gonna make it hard for you to get it back.

Pentagon Federal Credit Union Nightmare VA Refinance Experience with Penfed: 167 Days and Counting

Me and my hubby applied for a VA refinance in late May and boy oh boy, it's been a real doozy. At first, they gave us a whole bunch of stuff they needed from us. We sent it all in right away and asked if they needed anything else. They said no and that they were gonna review it. They told us that because of COVAD, it wouldn't be done until August 2020. We asked if we needed anything else in the meantime and they said no. But then, on the day it was supposed to close, they hit us with another list of stuff they needed. We sent it in right away, but when we asked how long it would take, they said they were "processing it now" and couldn't give us a date. Then, they told us we had to pay points even though the original application said we wouldn't have to! We tried to call, but couldn't get through and they didn't call us back. When we emailed them asking for someone higher up, they said they were still behind because of COVAD. It's been weeks and as of 9/23/2020, we're STILL waiting for our loan to process. NOW they wanna rerun my credit since the timeframe on that has expired. This is gonna hurt my credit score and it's all their fault! We have a son with Leukemia and the stress is through the roof. They don't seem to care about our situation at all. It's been over 100 days and there's still no closing date! We've never seen a company so slow. We've given them proof of our situation and they just don't care. Other companies have found ways to help their customers during COVAD, but not Penfed. Homebuyers beware! UPDATE: It's been 167 days and it's still "In Processing"! I've called higher ups at Pentagon and they haven't been much help. I can't switch to another company without paying for appraisal and other stuff again or pay an attorney to fight them.

Pentagon Federal Credit Union PenFed Credit Card Review: Poor Customer Service and Unauthorized Transaction

I been livin' out of state for a year now and ain't used my penfed credit card in a hot minute. So, I was surprised when I got a payment notice on Mar 23 for an unauthorized transaction that happened way back on 2/3/2018. I had to pay some interest ($0.56) on top of the unauthorized transaction ($59.95).

I couldn't see any transaction activity online at that time, so I had to make an international call (3/27/2018 7:38 pm) to figure out what was goin' on. Turns out, the transaction was made at Thrivemarket in CA, and I reckon someone else used my card 'cause my home address is in FL. So, I cancelled my old credit card and finally got a new statement on Mar 29.

I filled out a dispute form on 4/3/2018, but I didn't hear back from any penfed staff. I had to contact ThriveMarket myself to cancel the transaction.

Now, if I had a small interest and balance transfer from the previous credit card, that's on them 'cause they didn't email me in time and didn't provide the transaction details until after I made an expensive international phone call.

I got a good credit score (over 800) and always paid my purchases on time, except for this unauthorized transaction.

I only had one unauthorized transaction, and all the finance charges are related to this dispute. They emailed me sayin' I had 60 days from the time my credit statement cycles to dispute the transaction, and I wouldn't have to pay the disputed item while they investigated the charge, nor would I be charged finance charges during that time.

I don't mind payin' additional charges, including the delinquent charge ($21.34), but I do mind their customer service. I reckon they should've removed the interest charges on purchases after solvin' the problem, but they didn't. I emailed 'em several times about this issue for several months, but I got different answers from different staff members. They removed the delinquent charges, but then charged me again without explainin' why. Recently, I asked 'em what the interest on purchases was for 'cause I hadn't activated my new credit card to make any purchases, and they told me a few days ago that I had to pay a small interest that wasn't related to the dispute.

They're makin' money off of us customers, and they could've prevented all this mess if they just did their job right. They were too lazy to look up my statement in detail until I asked about the interest on purchases, and all they could say was sorry for the inconvenience without any real empathy.

No one responded to my dispute after I filled out the form, and no one apologized for not displayin' the unauthorized transaction until I made an international call. All the staff members had different answers, and no one let me know I had to pay a small interest that wasn't related to the dispute after I spent so much time solvin' the dispute myself.

So, if you're thinkin' about gettin' this credit card, be aware of these issues. Thanks for readin' my review!
