We had Paschal replace a 5 ton system in 2024. That process was completed in a very fair and competent manner. Overall, a good experience. Fast forward to a month ago when we agreed to one of their membership options for all three systems in our house. On the first visit, which I believe came at a cost of approximately $190 just to inspect the systems, the tech reported that the capacitor on one of the units (not the one they installed) was bad. When I asked for a quote to replace it, I also informed the tech that I would check elsewhere to confirm that the quote was fair. He said it would be $406 total. So, I asked about the cost of the part and he said something like $70, which meant he was charging $340 or so in labor to simply walk to his truck, get the part (which he said he had), and then take 3 minutes to attach the wiring to the new capacitor (because he already had the back panal removed from the unit). A quick call to a competitor confirmed that they could do the same job, including the service call, for less than $200 using an OEM capacitor. So, I asked to speak to a supervisor at Paschal. I tried to reason that $340 labor for 5 minutes worth of work was unacceptable. His response was basically that was the charge. So, my resonse was to ask the tech to pack up and leave. I also cancelled my membership and will not be doing business with Paschal in the future. If they had just tried to gouge me a little, I probably would had accepted it. By the way, the competitor came out and spent 5 minutes changing the capacitor and the total invoice was $194.
