Its funny how nycha cant fix the repairs in tenants home but have money to have big functions in the community centers. When they name my development sonya sotomayor houses they went all out. They was cutting grass, planting trees, painting the parking lott for their big party they were having in the community center. There were so much maintenance workers really working their ### off the week before the party. They were even towing cars out the parking lot.. I mean the only time nycha cleans up is when an important person comes to visit. Nycha cleaned and repaired the outside of the building but what about the inside,. What about the tenants repairs. The housing assistant for my-building is-an wise ###! Every time you make a complaint to him he says " if I don't see I don't see it I cant report it". There was a big dead rat laying in my walkway last year and I called him to tell him and he says. I cant report it so I cant say its there! Unfortunately the news came out and put it on tv and this man stills have his job!. I was just in the office and he was telling his supervisor that he could not look back in a tenants record. He says he goes by the rules! What is the rules? Is the rules not to do your job? There is so much I can tell y'all but to much to write. But I will find someone who will listen and record it and play it for the world to see. I have pictures, videos and much more of the ###ery that's been going on!

lack of response to housing application
To whom it may concern,
My name is tena perez and i'm writing to complain about nycha application process. I've submited my housing application on may 2008, and again on feb 2011. I've been on the waiting list for 4 years. I've updated my application 3 times because my housing situation changed. When I first applied I had 1 child now I have 2 and one on the way plus i'm married now. They keep telling me my application is on file and I have not even received a interview. I feel as if i'm being bypassed. Im in need of assistance immediately. This is becoming unreal and I don't know where else to turn.

For the past several years (Approx. 5 yrs) , I have had no heat or hot water in my apartment. I have made many complaints to my management office (To no avail). I am so sick and tired of NYCHA letting their workers get away with stuff. I have a friend that live in Mitchel, J.P. Houses in the Bronx, N.Y. She have always cried on my shoulder on how it was a mistake getting involved with a housing worker. She have told me that there a few times that she had sexual intercourse with this individual and some how everyone knew about it. People even thought at one point she was his girlfriend. She didnt want everybody knowing about it and now people come up to her calling her every name in the book. What this man did was ruin her reputation where now she is afraid to come outside. People started taking pictures of her naked and having sex with other men. I believe now she have began turning to drugs just to deal with the humiliation because she doesnt have any where else to go. She is afraid of making a complaint because she doesnt want him to retaliate and have people jump her. He knows almost everybody in those projects. I was told I couldnt complain about it for her because it didnt happen to me. If anybody can come up with suggestions please let me know. No one should go through this. NYCHA cover up their own ### and I am sick of it. If I have to get on television to bring light to the corruption, I will.

I have an Order of Protection and NYCHA has called me for 2 reviews!
They keep telling me I will get "the next available apartment"?
A year has gone by and NOTHING has been done. I still don't have
a PIN number - although they promised me one 2 years ago.
This is illegal! I want an immediate response as to why they are
intimidating me and REFUSING to cooperate!
DOCUMENT EVERYTHING AND FILE A POLICE REPORT FOR HARASSMENT. FIND A CHURCH AND LEAVE THE DRINKING

First and foremost you need to check with your cities rules and regulations(laws)concerning the time(usually eveining hrs.)this would be considered a disturbence. Otherwise the law will be on their side. If it's still happening lets say 1am more than likely the law will be on your side. If it's happening during the day, then good luck getting the law to do anything about it. Been there and Done That and was only told by the law the neighbor could anyting they wanted since it wasn't after curfew. Good Luck

I live at marble hill houses for the last six years, everytime there is a heavy downpour of rain the water backups through my toilet, sink and bathtub. It is like a geyser. I finally took a video and pictures. I have used my clothes, towels, blankets etc to always clean up this mess then have to discard everything. I have notified management everytime this happens and yet have been reimbursed for any of my losses. Anyone can tell me how to post the video to nycha website? I would like them to experience first hand what I go through. Not to mention my husband is disabled. Any suggestions? Help! Photo to large to post here.

bathroom repair (mold and mildew)
I have contacted nycha about 5 times already to come in and repair my bathroom for mold and mildew. First four times noone showed, even with an appointment date. And finally the fifth call someone showed up just to look at it and tell me that I have to call and make another appointment. I have missed work and had family members go out of their way to stay in the apt so that someone is home just in case they decide to show up. Now I am told that I have to wait 48 hrs to submit a new request. I have three children in the apt and the ceiling in the bathroom looks like its going to fall any minute now. And whenever I try to file a formal complaint, I just get re-directed back to the nycha maintanence line. Its very frustrating.

transfer/portability since 12/1/10 and no progress
On december 1, 2010 I went to the section 8 office on fordham road bronx new york to submit all the necessary documents for a portability to another state, at this time the representative at the call center stated to me it will take anywhere between 6-8 weeks to be processed and i'll be able to move. On december 16, 2010 I had gotten assualted in my own buliding by a neighbor that also lives in the building, a arrest had been made and I was referred to victims services through the manhattan district's attorney's office and they gave me letters for a expedited transfer/portability and also stated to me that the paperwork should speed the process up to help me move out of the danger that me and my family are enduring. At this date which is 6/7/11, I call the call center every two-three days and I get the same answer every time (that the portabilty is on the desk of the supervisor awaiting approval) and it's been sitting there since 5/14/2011 and there isn't nothing being done to speed the process along to assure me and my four children. The answer I received along with (Its still pending approval) , is the work load is over back logged, not enough man power to do the work.. Please get back in contact with me with some help to help me and my family move. Thank you in advance
Thank you Brenda, however I've spoken to several supervisors and my next step is to write a letter to the commisioner and see if I can get some help.
As far as working, Yes I do have a job and I received my section 8 through Domestic Violence when I was 18 years old., my section 8 isn't something I have just received I've had it for 15 years and I dont plan on losing it, if you are fortunate enough to get section 8 no matter what the reason is God bless you. And Im sorry that you live in a run down apartment and you barely make ends meet, however keep your faith in God and turn that anger that you have for individuals that do get help from the government into something positive and keep striving it can only get better. Be blessed!

leak from upstairs bathroom
There have been several leaks from the apartment above mine for the past several years. Recently there has been at least one leak per day and I have knocked upstairs resulting in either the tenant ignoring the knocks, or them denying that the leak is coming from their above apartment. The emergency number given is an absolute joke [protected] as the operator either takes years to answer the phone and if they do the problem is given a ticket. Usually no one ever comes to check out the problem and if they do they arrive without giving proper notice ahead of time. I am trying at all cost to avoid confrontation as I feel if I run into the tenant they will be greeted with a punch to the mouth. But rather than doing this I would rather find an alternative way of remedying the problem. Is there another way to complain about a neighbor who is neglecting to acknowledge that the leak is coming from their apartment so that the problem can be resolved without confrontation.

I've been having issues with grant houses since 2001.. I put in for a transfer to a bigger apartment 3bedrooms in 2001 when I had ms. All they keep telling me is that its a numberised system andi have to wait for my number to come up.. I've already contacted the management office and spoke to my housing assistant aswell her supervisor/the bourgh office/city hall/albany/the white house/bill perkind/charles rangel/tenants rights exectera and nothing... abuse/retaliation/exploitation
I’m rodrice a. Vincent, and I was abused, harassed, defamed, and slandered by a new york city housing authority supervisor, and on or about july 31, 2009, she used her co-workers in official capacity to get me terminated from my provisional position. Based on the same false testimony which I was terminated, n. Y. C. H. A. Also tried to prevent me from getting unemployment, a matter which was resolved in my favor. Currently I am being threatened with termination of my tenancy from the new york city housing authority; nycha is claiming & ldquo;breach of rules and regulations” and & ldquo;non-desirability. & rdquo;
I’m a single mom of 3, I need help and don’t know who to turn to. I don’t owe any money in rent, and I am in good standing with the management in the nycha development where I live. I am an upstanding citizen, a college student, and an overall good human being-with several references to testify to that fact. I was a provisional employee, so the abuse that I endured was ignored. I have lived in my apartment for nearly seven years, and have never had a problem with anyone. I filed a complaint with the new york state division of human rights, but the case was dismissed as my complaint was not under the jurisdiction of human rights law. I filed this case in august of 2009, and it was dismissed in october of 2010. These threats of eviction, and the accusations that led to them, are not only continued harassment from my initial termination, and the incidents which led to it, but also retaliation for filing a complaint with the state division. P. S. Housing has offered me to make a settlement. If I withdraw my complaints, they will stop accusing me. Sounds more like exploitation, and admitting guilt on their part to me. They presented this settlement agreement to the new york state division of human rights, it was only offered orally to me.
All I want is justice, and to be left alone. My problem is that I cant fight with a major entity such as nycha on my own. I have a substantial paper trail of evidence that can support my innocence. A blind man could see the abuse i’m enduring from a block away; if only he bothered to look… I truly need help. If you cant help me, would you please do me the service of passing this plea to anyone that you know who might be able to do so. I so humbly thank you in advance, if even you took the time to read this.
Sincerely,
Rodrice a. Vincent

I agree, Just one night ago my family and myself was badly battered and beating in Wagner housing, located in New York City, N.Y 10035. Before and during this horrible interaction with these gang members, the cops were called more then 2 times. Before our eyes more then 30 peolple were outside our 1st floor apartment calling us to come out, after having things being thrown at our apartment window the cops were then called again, my family ran out, my 2 sister and my 2 brothers, and were agonized and beating, having more then 6 people on each of my members including myself who weight 110lbs...the results swelling and the knocking out of my family member teeth, 6 sitches, , and more swelling in our extremities, one of my sisters were mased and then hold at gun point.

NEW YORK CITY HOUSING AUTHORITY NEEDS TO DO SOME HOUSE CLEANING. sOME PEOPLE THERE ARE REALLY NICE. mOST ARE VERY CRUEL AND TREAT YOU IN HUMANELY. tHE SUPERVISOR WITH THE LAST NAME THAT RHYMES WITH EAGEL. No heat throughout the entire development in this area. Many tenants have complaint to the nyc complaint line 311am all we receive is a complain # and report the complaint to the manager. noise complaint
Hi, I am a tenant at 520 east 21st street apt 4r. I travel with migraines and high blood pressure and the people upstairs in apt 5r are constantly making a considerable amount of noise. The noise is becoming unbearable, they moved in about 2-3 months ago and the noise gets worse, we spoke to them nothing improved, the superintendent spoke to them and there hasn't been any justice. Someone got them in the building because their name is not on the lease and it started out as just a woman and man living up there with 2 kids, now they brought more people into that house there are now aunts, sisters, and grandparents along with 5 kids up there. Everybody my daughter and myself are woken up 7-8 in the morning from the stomping and running, the kids don't go to school and I work in the evenings so I need my rest in the morning and never get it. This needs to stop, the apartment above them 6r is empty, maybe if its possible they can be asked to put carpet down or move to another apartment because to my knowledge a letter was already sent to them about the noise and nothing happened.

It's now 3am. I should be sleeping but the tenants above don't care. The noise is constant and continuous. I have tried twice to speak to them so they are aware. I have registered complaints at the management office which states that they have sent notices and the tenant denies making the disturbance. I have called the customer contact, submitted concern complaint on NYCHA website, contacted NYC Ombudsman via email and even 311 for police to address and yet here I am at 3am writing this comment. I am a Veteran with PTSD as well as migraines. Will someone help...it's not fair and my health is decling.
Hi I’m a tenant in 2b in 20 LaGuardia Ave, Staten Island New York, Housing workers from 12 midnight to 6Am in the morning are causing extensive amount of banging noise on the pipes causing a sleeping issue with myself and neighbors. I am a person that works a lot and get home late so rest is needed but the constant banging isn’t helping and this occurs everyday during the week & weekend causing neighbors to even wake up and knock on my door asking what is going on. I have elderly people on my floor and they can’t sleep due to the loud banging and don’t know who to turn to. I complained about three times to housing and never had a answer or issue fixed with a time schedule I have a sick mother with me as well and the noise is a constant none stop at night and last for about an hour.
lobby key
I have been living in ravenswood houses in long island city with my mother since 1996. I currently took over the apartment last year when she moved to virginia and the lease is in my name. Last month, the lobby key that we had for all those years broke and I have not been able to get into the building. I called the management office of ravenswood houses and followed their procedure of calling the call center to get a control number for the key. I sent my cousin to pick it up for me, as I do not make it home before the office closes. They refused to give him the key and said that I have to go down there to get it.. Therefore, I call to make sure the key is available before I go so I don't have to take any more time off of work. When I call they accuse me of subletting the apartment. I am outraged! They claim someone called and said I do not live there. I go to the office and state that I am not subletting and need a key to get in because I have to stand outside sometimes for hours in the cold before anyone comes through the lobby door. Even if they have some suspicion that I am subletting the apartment, I have a right to the key. Especially since they already took the money for the key. My name is on the lease! They claim they have no more keys and I have to wait yet another week for a key to get into a building where I pay rent! I expressed that I should not have to wait out in the cold another week to get into my home. I even suggested they courier the key over from wherever they get them so that I do not have to wait any longer. The supervisor I spoke too was nasty and hung up on me. Nyc housing treats everyone in the projects as if they are lesser than they are. They are rude and unprofessional. I tried even calling the queens borough office and they are just as rude. Does anyone know who else I can speak with to voice my complaints? Who would be the borough office boss?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I have been trying to get an apartment within NYC housing, first I was on the waiting list for three years. then they sent me an application for a development that has had me waiting for almost another three years. still I have yet to hear anything, every time I call the development I hear something new. I have written to NYC housing authority numerous times and they have yet to help, I even asked could I have another option instead of having to wait years for something that may never happen. I feel that someone isn't doing their job and/or are helping their friends and family out over those who really need it or who have been on the lists for a while. they tell us we have to wait til our name is picked in the computer system, but funny I've been on the list for quite some time and people who have come after me are in their apartments already. How can this happen? people who know someone on the inside. I've been through it all with housing and every time I went I heard a different story, I am to the point where I have no idea who to contact. As I stated I have written the chairman numerous times and he has yet to tell me any helpful information. they send me a letter via mail telling me exactly what I am being told on the phone which is nothing.
On June 3, 2009 I went to see an apartment located at 284 Sutter Ave Brooklyn, NY in the Brownsville Housing Development. On this day I was informed by the housing assistant, Mr. Logan that I had to either except the apartment then or that I may be forfeiting my housing application.
On this same day I accepted the apartment and was told that the repairs should be done within two weeks. I was given a form with the breakdown of my "rental fees" and was told that I had ten days to produce the money. On June 19, 2009 I went back to the office, paid my rental fees and was given a receipt but not the keys to the apartment. I was advised by Mr. Logan that the apartment was not completed and that he could not give me a definite date as to when it would be completed. I advised Mr. Logan that I had already told my current landlord that I was moving based on the two weeks notice that he had previously given me on June 3rd. I told him that as of July 5, 2009 I would be displaced because my landlord already had a tenant ready to rent the apartment. As of today July 27, 2009 I am still not in my housing apartment and they have not provided me with a date as to when it will be done. On July 6, 2009 I was advised that the apartment only needed to be painted and that that would take approximately a week. I feel that this situation is unfair because I have paid for a product that I have not been provided with. After my July 6, 2009 conversation with Mr. Logan he has not been answering or returning any of my calls. On July 23, 2009 I spoke with his supervisor who, just as Mr. Logan, has not been helpful and also unprofessional.
Please advise me on what I need to do or what else needs to be done in order for me to get into my apartment.
lack of heat and mold problem
I have 3 years living in housing and this is the most terrible experience. They never have the appropiate heat during the winter. At this time there is actually not heat in my apartment, and mold start to come up in the bedroom windows. My big concern is that I have a daughter whos has asthma and also I have a 8 month old baby. I cant live on this condition and i've been complaining too much. I called the calling center 4 times already (ticket no. [protected], [protected], [protected] and [protected]) I also call 311 to file a complaint against nycha but at this time I don't see anything. Im desperate, and the worse part is that my baby has already a bad cough. Please help!I need to leave that place asap. They need to make me a transfer to a warm place. I'm afraid they will not approve my transfer because I already declined one transfer in the summer time; but the reason why I did it it was because I couln't afford to pay more rent at that time, and also the area where the buliding is not the best. Also, I asked a neighbor living on that building if the heat was good and she actually had the same problem. Attach you will find the email confirmation for the complaints made thru 311.

bathroom leak, mole and loose toilet remains an issue.
My mother in law resides in the carey gardens - 2945 west 23rd st. , in brooklyn, ny. Since august of this year she has made several reports that there is a leak somewhere within the walls either from the above apartment or one of the top floors, yet to no avail. The maintenance guys have come three times to the apartment. First they made an assessment of the condition the wall is in, then we were told that the wall would be plastered however when I mention to the guy that plastering a wall without repairing the leak is useless; he stated that if we did not call to make an appointment for the plastering it would take a long time before they can actually plaster the wall. As soon as the guy came to plaster the wall, it began to peel again, there is also black mole on the walls and ceilings, the toilet is actually loose; yet their only solution nycha has come up with is to plaster the wall while the underlying problems remains unsolved. Today I had to call the [protected] to make another ticket, describe the problem all over again and be given a repair date of dec.16, 2010. However, I am not only going to take pictures but videotape the conditions in which my mother in law is living in. I am going to wait for their petty work to be done on dec. 16, 2010, then I will be taking her to housing court and filing a tenant's request for inspection, because I know for a fact that the leak is not going to be repaired and this is going to be an ongoing issue unless I take nycha to court myself and if the court does nothing I will call the media.
