In 2001 I leased a credit card terminal from Northern Leasing Systems. They never sent anyone out to program it even after I contacted them. Frustrated with waiting, I just gave up and told them I wanted to cancel the contract and give back the equipment. I was told I couldn't - I was obligated to a four-year contract. They continued billing me every month (even though I was not using their services). After they threatened to sue me, I ended up paying a total of $1,200 for a credit card terminal that never got taken out of the box.! To add insult to injury, I recently discovered they put a blemish on my credit report claiming I still owe them over $200.

I recently started another business and decided to use my terminal (with another credit card processing company) and was told by this other company that I couldn't use the terminal because it was still under lease with Northern Leasing Systems.

It's been almost SEVEN years since I signed that contract and this company still continues to give me grief. They are even holding my terminal hostage so I can't use it anywhere else. I don't understand why they are still in business? They should be shut down and prosecuted for fraud. I am urging other consumers - DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

I'm another "victim" of the NL fraud.

After being assured by a representative of Northern Leasing (who, of course, contacted me promptly when I changed bank accounts) that I would be notified of my lease expiration, I did not have a clear indication of my actual lease expiration. I didn't worry; I was assured that "they'd call me".

After fees were continually drafted from my bank account, I began looking for a way to contact NL. I live in a very remote place, and we were only able to gain reliable Internet access in March of 2008. I looked them up, found a number and contacted them.

Their agent, Angel, refused information to me and even hung up the phone. I phoned back two days later...and I ended up with the same rude representative on the phone - Angel. After assuring her I had taken the required steps, including writing emails (to which I did not receive a reply) and mailing back a piece of equipment I hadn't used in years, she forwarded me to her "Team Leader" - a Mr Shawn Williams. He was actually very professional and I thought my ordeal with NL was over.

Come to find out, they tried to draft my account again today. I phoned and this time Zach Bynoe tells me that there is nobody in the office named Shawn Williams, and that my file did not note the agreements (though VERY minimal) Mr Williams made verbally to me. And Zach could only respond to what "his system" noted. (Like it's a client's responsibility what gets noted in their "system"!)

I contacted my bank's fraud department. I'm writing notes like these. I was taken hook, line and sinker from the very first integrity-less salesman who "hooked me up" with this equipment. I speak to hundreds of would-be business owners every year. I can assure you that I will share this experience with them.

Is it the New York Attorney General who receives complaints? I'm the next one in line!

Northern Leasing & infinity data are the ### of the earth.
Yes they are fast talking salesmen/liers
They not only convinced my wife of their lies but also convinced and allowed her to sign my name to the
contract.and then went ahead with chargeing me more and more every month(I have never even used this equiptment) I have lodged a complaint with the BBB
but really didn't do much good for me anyways,
they are ### and they do call constantly.
They should be shut down they are hurting already struggling small buisness owners.

Fast talking salesman leased me a nurit 8000 for 4 years, it was supposed to be like 50 bucks a month. it turned out being 108 a month. i stopped paying about 8 months ago. they call me 6-10 times a day. then last week they said they were going to sue me for $3253 and i have to go to NY for court, the machine from multiple websites is only worth at the most $600. i still have the machine, if i return it i know they will say they never recieved it. i only used it twice because it never got reception, it worked like a cellphone. when i complained multiple times they said i must be in areas with bad cellular coverage, i was in palm beach with 5 bars on my cingular cell phone that i was calling them from! Is there anyone in florida who has filed a complaint yet?

Oh, how I wish I had known more or had been savvier before getting involved with this hustler of a company. Same thing goes for me - was starting a small business, my banker (whom I completely trusted) recommended a salesman to hook up my credit card machine. This elusive, fast-talking salesman seemed slick and shady but I went ahead and signed this incredibly long, hard-to-read contract. He told me that it was for two years and 55$ a month. It turns out it's a 4 year contract of $69.92 per month. Any and every communication I've had with Northern Leasing has been a horrible experience, to say the least. I just don't think that I have a case against them since it was my own naivete that got me here.

Same story here...our "lease" expired over two years ago and they have been tagging our account for over $100 per month up until last when we closed our account and opened a new one. In total, we paid over $7200 for a machine we no longer have and haven't had for 3 years. (We switched to NPC and used our old terminal as a trade in - they're another story.) We really had no idea the money was even coming out and just happened to question what that particular bill was for and made the appropriate actions. Once they weren't able to access our account and bleed us anyomre, they sure made a lot of phone calls and even called our house during the day. Now they are wanting the machine back -- which is 7 years old and not in our possession -- and want a "buy out fee" of $348.00, plus the last months $100+ they haven't been able to get. I know we should have been keeping a better eye on our finances, but you'd think they'd be happy getting over 7k for a $200 item and call things good. With them evidently not, and now I am not sure what to do, I'd rather not pay them another cent, but I certainly don't want a credit report issue or a court appearnce 1,000 miles away. If anyone has any ideas I would surely appreciate it.

I have filed a lawsuit against Northern Leasing System, Inc
in the US District Court For The Eastern District Of California
case # 207cv01877fcdggh ps I want every reporter in the to know this case who would take my story. I already fax to every state attorney general in the country about my case and to ftc, consumer affairs. The bull dogs bit me, I am the pit bull that is biting back and not letting go. Northern Leasing System is messing with the wrong person to be screwing with. The chicken heads are scared. GOOD. Also I will send my case by mail to every reporter in the country, and the media. I am fired up here.
I have disabilities, birth defects but that is not stopping me. I'm not backing down. I am climing up "Amen to that"...

Golden Eagle Leasing has been debiting my bank account for 9 years! Lease expired 11/2004. With restructuring of our business, I now micromanage everything and for 5 years after lease expired they continued to debit my account. When I called them, they required the return of a cc terminal worth less than 50. shipping=$10). They will wait 30 days before cancelling ACH to my checking account after they receive the terminal. ALL in ALL, I have paid 4337.00 for a terminal worth less the 50 because they will not stop debiting account even after lease expired! They will only fax a illegible contract and not mail a good copy. The 2nd page of lease I have never seen nor signed. Hopefully, class action status will prevail and victims will get money back and company be put out of business.

I own a small business and can identify with this issue. I was duped by a scam-artist salesman promising lower payments. He even told me it was a 12 month lease and then changed the documents to 48 months after I had already signed. He also told me the machine would be mine after my "imaginary" 12 month lease was up, which is not true. Their customer service may be the worst my employees and I have ever dealt with (rude and snobby). We turned our information over to the Attorney General and would suggest everyone else do the same. Something needs to happen or they will continue to take advantage of unsuspecting individuals. I will not trust another saleman that walks through my door, and that is unfortunate because most of them are probably legit. STAY AWAY FROM NORTHERN LEASING!

I agree, same thing here, I am stuck in a four year lease and they are taking 69.35 out of my account every month, not a big deal until you add it up over 4 years, with that amount i could have boughten about 15 machines. It's rediculus. Does any one know how to cancel it or get out of it. It doesn't sound like there is a way? And are we for sure that after 4 years it's over?

I have also been badly ripped off by this group of C_ _ _ _ S. I was busy taking care of customers when this fast talking salesman said he could save me a lot of money on my credit card business. I signed some papers and he told me that I would receive a new machine and if I stayed with the company for 4 years that the machine would be mine. He never left me a copy of the agreement and I did not find out for six months later that I had signed a 48 month lease for 29.95 per month. In any case, it was my fault, therefore, I would just live with it. However, the lease said that if I give the company notice before the end of the lease, I could buy the machine for 10% of the total lease payments. I did just that and they did not respond to my first or second notice. Instead they kept taking money out of my account. I signed a stop payment with my bank. The problem was that the stop was only good for six months and Northern went back into my account and took out several hundred dollars. I went back to my bank and told them that this company had no right to do that and to stop this at once. Again I signed a stop payment and set up a new account. However, again 6 months later they got into the account and hit me for over 600.00. After 15 years with this bank, there is no question that I will be leaving the bank. As far as Northern Leasing is concerned, I will be taking any and all action against them and my lawyer will send letters to everyone that may have an interest in stopping this scam. The owners of Northern Leasing are stealing from small business, just as if they were holding a gun to our heads, and they should GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL!

MY WIFE AND I ARE DEALING WITH THESE PEOPLE, AND I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT IF EVERY ONE WOULD GO TO THEIR ATTORNEY GENERALS WEDSITE OR CALL AND FILE COMPLAINTS, LIKE THE FOLKS IN MISSOURI DID, (IT ONLY TOOK 23 COMPLAINTS TO MISSOURI ATTORNEY GENERAL TO GET SOME ACTION GOING AGAINST NORTHERN LEASING, AND THEY GOT STOPPED.) SO LETS BAND TOGETHER AND GET THESE PEOPLE SHUT DOWN. GO TO YOUR ATTORNEY GENERALS AND FILE THE COMPLAINTS, WE HAVE IN IOWA, AND ARE SPREADING THE WORD. DON'T LET THEM WIN AND DON'T GIVE IN TO THEM. FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! WHAT HAPPENED IN MISSOURI GIVES HOPE TO US ALL. THANK YOU.

I have had the same problem with Northern Leasing since 1998 and get a bill from them at least twice a year. Even tho they put on my credit report that they have charged it off. I did send them a statue of limiation (SOL) after 4 years (PA) so now they can not take me to court but can still bill me. Next year it will be 10 years.. I just ignore them when the bill comes in. and on my credit report I put on that I have a SOL on the company and send a copy of the purchase order I signed for the machine.. Yes it was a purchase order to buy the machine not lease it and was told I could terminate the bill at any time.. but when i tried they said I owed $1, 700.00 yet for the machine that only cost $1.500.00 brand new. And I had been paying 4 years for it already.. I ask to see the papers they had and I got papers for leasing not the purchase order I had. The signature was not mine. I don't think they took me to court in NY because I live close enough to go there. they try to take people who can't make it to court. I can not believe that they are still at it. I did get in touch with Attorney Krishnan Chittur because I heard he had a lawsuit going against them in case he needed my information on them. He did not need my info but won the case. By the way my machine was suppose to be wireless and it did not work and when i called support they suggested I take it outside to use it.
good luck everyone and if any one comes up with a solution let me know.. Oh, yes , I did also stop paying them right away. And I kept the machine even tho I have never used it because I feel I have paid and purchased it.

I also have a complaint against Northern Leasing Systems who thinks I owe them a monthly fee for equipment that was returned to them. They want monthly fee for 2 more years, which I refuse to do. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General of Texas, Missouri and New York City. New York is where Northern Leasing Systems is based; however, New York is the only Attorney General who flat out told me they could not help me in this matter. The company is trying to force small businesses to pay them for no service and no product. If that isn't wrong then why doesn't everyone do the same thing. I would hope that most of us are honest people.

Dear Associate of Chittur Attorneys and Councilors at Law,

I was a small business owner who unfortunately got involved with this company back in February of 2004. Until recently, when I closed my bank account, I was paying more than $40 a month for a term of 48 months. My business closed in October 2006 but due to their threats I was forced to continue payment. I had no intention of pursuing legal action despite their strange emotionally manipulative sales tactics and document forgery of my Lease Documents. However, after recently closing my bank account and asking Northern Leasing to send me an invoice detailing what I owed on the equipment, I received a letter stating that the buyout figure WITHOUT the equipment is $172.80. This is contrary to what I was told at the outset. I did not and would not have signed up to pay $2000 for a product I would not ultimately own.

I want to tell you briefly the circumstances of signing the lease and why I was forced to stay with the lease. When I started my business, a prom dress boutique, everything went wrong. The two biggest things that are related to this story is that my mom was diagnosis with bladder cancer and my husband I were given a warning notice for deployment to Afghanistan.

In January 2004, my husband and I were unexpectedly activated to what is called an SRP, the process for determining if you will be deployed. This was especially stressful for us because we have two small children and we dreaded the prospect of us both being away. As I mentioned, my mom was sick and because of the SRP I was forced to miss a benefit in her honor. Finally, in early January I had signed a lease at a commercial space and was was suppose to start business the week after the SRP. Prior to the SRP, I did a quick internet search on Credit Card Machines which lead me to Pyramid. It was through my dealings with Pyramid that I was directed to Northern Leasing.

While I was at the SRP, Northern Leasing was frequently calling me telling me that I need to get my documents in. I talked to a girl named Lori and found myself apologizing for not getting back to her in a timely manner. I explained my situation and she seemed to sympathize with my stress. I told her that I would have to look at and sign the lease after I got back from the SRP. In the mean time, she just went ahead and signed it for me! She faxed the lease to my home and called and said she was doing me a favor because she knew I was having trouble accessing a fax machine and she she knew I was working under a tight deadline to open the store. When I got back home, I took the lease to a local credit leasing company called BPS and they told me the rates and the cost of the machine was outrageous. I called back to speak to Lori. She told me that she would get in big trouble and possibly fired if I turned her in for forging my name. She also emailed me a picture of her and her 1 year old son. I fell for the obvious manipulation because I was an emotional wreck at the time and was so focused on opening the store in time. I let the contract stand with forged signatures and all. I do have a copy of it and the forgery is obvious.

Later, when I finally did come to my logical senses and saw how they used my vulnerability against me it was too late. I was locked into this contract. Many months later, I called the company and told them I was going out of business and they said that I was still obligated to pay the remainder of the lease. They said they would turn me over to a collection agency if I did not pay. I was going through a Top Secret Security Clearance for my National Guard job at the time and I couldn't risk jeapordizing the Clearance due to bad credit. So this is how I came to be saddled with Northern Leasing.

Up till now I have blamed myself for not doing enough research and letting myself be emotionally bullied a con artist. I also had other things to deal with and just didnt have the energy or time to fight with Northern. After my most recent dealings with them I am so disgusted with this company I feel compelled to take action. It is outrageous that they are claiming that I dont own the credit card machine that I paid over $2000 for. I was told in the beginning that the contract was a lease to own. It's outrageous that they are basically stealing from small business owners over and over again without repercussion.

This situation is very scary. These scam artist are all over the country. I am in Iowa and the same thing happened to me. A salesman from Merchant Service cane to my business.Basically, you lease equipment that is worth $300.00 and you end up paying over $2,000.00 for it. Luckily, my business is doing well and I can pay for it. The lease is a tax write off. Northern Leasing is taking advantage of many many people. The funny thing is I thought I was the only stupid person and thought I would just take this as a learning experience. I was looking up Northern Leasing through google to get a phone number on them and found all of these complaints. Something needs to be done! I feel bad for everyone. I know take everything to my attorney before signing a thing! Good luck all!

Northern Leasing System needs to be put out of business.

Back in May of 1999 I sign an one page Equipment Finance Lease Agreement for a Virtual Terminal that they call software as a piece of Equipment.

Merchant Service USA was the Vendor for that company who sign me up. I have cancel the Agreement June 1999 because I did not get help. I never heard from them again Northern Leasing has been pulling my credit file through the years under neigh my nose. I did not pay much of a tension of my inquiries. Didn’t think much of it. I thought they where out of my life until April 10.13 and July 17.18 /2007 saw that they pulled my file after 7 years later send me a demand letter, etc... I guess they got board want to have fun playing with peoples mind and screw around with their credit.

Came to fine out Virtual Terminal is NOT a piece of equipment for finance lease. I also found out they never offer that in the first place. All they finance lease is POS Terminals Credit Card Machines and ATM Machines that you see on there web site. I am not going to say any more...
