MultiChoice Africa / DSTV review: Unauthorised debit

complaint regarding unauthorised deductions from my bank account and the lack of assistance received from your customer service centre.

I registered for DStv Stream and paid for the service upfront. At no point did I authorise recurring payments or provide consent for DStv to debit my bank account.

Despite this, the following transactions have been processed against my account:

1 October 2026: R111.70 – DStv Gauteng

28 October 2026: R89.42 – DStv Gauteng (currently uncleared)

I contacted your customer service centre on both 1 October and 28 October 2026 to query these deductions. Unfortunately, neither call resulted in any assistance or resolution. Instead, I was repeatedly placed on hold without receiving any meaningful support.

This is unacceptable, particularly given that funds are being deducted from my account without my authorisation.

I request the following as a matter of urgency:

An immediate investigation into these unauthorised transactions.

A full refund of R201.12.

Immediate cancellation of any recurring payment arrangements linked to my banking details.

Written confirmation of how these payments were authorised and why they were processed.

Confirmation that no further deductions will be made against my account.

I would also appreciate an explanation as to why my previous attempts to resolve this matter through your customer service centre were unsuccessful.

Please treat this as a formal complaint and provide a complaint reference number, together with a written response within five business days.

Should this matter remain unresolved, I will escalate the complaint through the appropriate consumer protection channels and pursue a formal dispute with my bank.

I have attached a screenshot of the transactions for your reference.
