My name is [Redacted] and I am the business owner of [Redacted], a small enterprise located near [Redacted]. We have been a customer of a financial service provider called Monex/Tempus since 2019. Their website is https://www.monexusa.com/. On January 6, 2022, Monex/Tempus wired $34,956.10 out of our business checking account, followed by another transfer on January 11, 2022, for $43,378.92. These were fraudulent transfers as they were not authorized by me. The events started on January 5, 2022, when a fraudster hacked my email account and sent an email to our contact at Monex. The fraudster requested Monex to change our vendor beneficiary's bank information and to wire funds to this new beneficiary account. On January 10, 2022, the fraudster sent another email to Monex requesting another wire transfer to a different vendor. Monex then replied to the fraudster and stated that they needed to confirm beneficiary account changes over the phone. The Monex representative then asked the fraudster if he was available to speak. The fraudster replied that he would call the Monex representative back during his work break time. Monex then sent another email to the fraudster stating that they were trying to call him to verify the beneficiary change but that no one was answering the phone. The Monex representative then asked the fraudster to call him back. This was a significant oversight on the part of the Monex representative. The representative should have never requested the fraudster to call him. Monex should have called me on my office or cell phone to confirm that I was the one who requested the transfer. Instead, the Monex representative allowed the fraudster to call him back and assumed it was me, completing the transactions. Monex offered to return only $10,000 of the total $34,956.10 owed. I believe this is completely unfair. They were responsible for the loss of the funds and therefore it's only right that they return the funds. I would appreciate any help you could offer. Thank you.
