Menards Sexism and Mask Policy

I go to Menards normally with my husband. We both wear our masks the same way. The same way I've witnessed many other people (mostly men) wearing their masks. Below their nose/mouth. When I am with my husband not one worker at Menards says a word. Today I went to Menards alone and was yelled at twice (the checkout girl is the exact same person that we checked out with 2 days prior!) A few weeks ago when I walked alone a worker chased me and my daughter down screaming at us - but when my husband was with us he said nothing!
Your employees are extremely sexist in their mask mandate. It is obnoxious and rude! If you intend to enforce a mask policy - I would suggest you are consistent and yell at all the men who wear it "incorrectly - in your opinion" not just women!

Desired outcome: Eliminate the mask mandate since you only enforce it will females!

Menards Store access denied without mask to people with disabilities

The Fond du lac store, which probably means all Menards stores denies access to people with disabilities who are not able to wear a mask. The store employee stated this was his policy, then modified that to say it was store policy and John Menards policy irrespective of Federal and State laws.

Desired outcome: Stop discriminating.

Menards Snapper/briggs & stratton snowblower, mod # 1697340

I purchased this machine from the Menards store in my hometown of Freeport, Il on December 30, 2020. I cleared my driveway one time with no trouble experienced at all. Upon the second attempt to use it the drive belt came off the drive pulley and nothing worked. After reinstalling the belt myself the same thing occurred and the hardware holding the pulley fell off as well. I called the local store and was told they could, or would not assist me at all, this seems to be all they knew to say quoting the company policy. After writing a letter to the manufacturer, I received a call from their customer care department and was referred to a local repair facility. They picked up the machine on February 11, 2021. A few days later the called to tell me they are not a Snapper dealer and found nothing wrong with the machine but provided me with an estimate to repair at my cost. As of this writing they still have the machine with parts on order with the approval of "Tommy" from Briggs & Stratton under case #1095413, while I have no way to remove snow from my driveway without paying someone to do it for me.

Desired outcome: Return machine for refund, compensation for snow removal fees

Menards Medical Mask ADA Exemption denied

Recently shopping at Menard's in Sedalia, Missouri, I was asked to leave due to not wearing a mask. At that time, I pointed to my lanyard with attached Medical Mask Exemption card that I was wearing around my neck -- displayed for anyone to see. I told the employee that I had a medical exemption and pointed to the card displayed around my neck. Employee apologized but then said it didn't matter and to put on a mask or leave! I said OK and promptly went to the front desk to advise Customer Service what had just happened. Was told they "were a privately-owned company and rules were to wear a mask or leave. " I again stated a medical condition with exemption and was again told to wear a mask or leave due to company policy. I gladly left. Wearing a face mask poses a physical risk to me under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Menards is in violation of Pettis County Public Health Emergency Rules -- specifically Item 3a -- "Individuals with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents them from wearing a face covering" are exempt from the requirement to wear a face covering. (See also Items 1e and 4.)

Menard's is in direct violation of US Department of Justice ADA regulations. Being denied direct access to a business for a medical condition has steep penalties. This is just like denying entrance to a person in a wheelchair because they are in a wheelchair! Menards showed additional prejudice by not asking others in the store who were also not wearing face masks to leave.

Shame on you, Menards! You are being reported to the State Attorney General's office, as well as the US Department of Justice and Pettis County Health Center ... and I am just getting started. You messed with the wrong gal.

Desired outcome: Settle the lawsuit

God Bless you! I went to a menards in Illinois today and experienced the very same thing. I was with my 2 girls who wore masks and my boyfriend who also wore
his mask. I walked in with them as was told the very same thing that it was private property by kody the customer service kid at the door.
They should be ashamed of themselves! I also had a mask exception card around my neck and showed it to this kid
Kody and was told to leave. I will be contacting the attorney generals office as well as corporate. Good for you standing your ground!

Menards Service

I have a disability that allows me except from wearing a mask. An employee harassed me and literally "called" me like a dog. I am very disgusted that this is how an employee would treat someone with a disability even after I explained to him I had a disability that allows me not to wear a mask. He tried to call me like a dog in front of my children.

Menards Lloyd's BBQ Rib's Availabily

I am very upset with the fact that the Lloyd's BBQ ribs which were advertised in the ad that started January 24, 2021 were not available. I spoke with an employee in that department and was informed that they had been being sold 2 weeks prior to the sale but were now out. I think that the ribs should not have been out for sale until the date of sale ad. I drove 30 miles one way just to pick up the ribs and was very, very disappointed with the fact that they had sold out prior to the sale. This isn't fair to your customers.

Desired outcome: Items to not be put out for sale until the sale date starts.

Menards Model #6790168 brass white kitchen sink strainer basket 2pkg

We bought our kitchen sink strainer basket about 6 month ago, out of lansing mi. Since then the white coating is almost pealed off both the strainers. This isn't what we were expecting. Yes I could take it back to the store to get replacement. Then I would have to take the sink out and this is a problem with my wife has to use the sink often, due to disability. And if you are a plumber, its a pain in the a... What we are asking for the store to replace both the strainer, not the white ones. This way I don't have to take the sink out, got to manards miles away. It would be easer. Its not easy work. Thanks for your consideration on this matter. I do not want the same ones, which were more expensive, we like the stainless steel ones. We went for looks, not again. Really I have to take out my kitchen sink to replace these, no damn room to work. I think we paid like 37.00 more or less. Its on file [protected]@gmail.com

Desired outcome: please replace the kitchen strainers 2pk stainless ones this time

Menards Buy & Fly

I have made atleast 8 phone calls and have spent HOURS on the phone over the course of 5 days trying to book my flights and I am getting a different excuse of why I can't book them every time. We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars at this store and deserve better service than this. I have been told someone was supposed to call me back within 48 hours-that did not happen. Since my first phone call, the flight prices above and beyond the $300 credit has increased by almost $200/ticket. I have a family of 6 so this will have costed me almost $1200 in additional fees because of the lack of organization with the Buy & Fly service. I am extremely dissatisfied with Menards right now a d certainly expect this issue to be resolved IMMEDIATELY.

Desired outcome: All I want to do is book my flights, IMMEDIATELY!

Menards Email offers

This complaint is about an HO trains email offer. I received an offer for FREE TREES (model trees) with any $ 19.99 purchase of another HO product. I did not receive the FREE TREES with my purchase and so I inquired. Menards Customer Service told me I did not list the the trees along with my $ 19.99 order. I told them I responding to an email offer and that my purchase implied that any $ 19.99 purchase included the FREE TREES. They disagreed with me an said they would send them if I paid shipping and handling ($ 10.00+ for $ 15.00 trees). I received a second email offer, again purchase a $ 19.99 item and receive a FREE PEPSI TRUCK. I listed the free Pepsi truck only to be charged twice. ($ 19.99 item plus $ 19.99 Pepsi truck) When I contacted Menards and ask them to explain, they only issued a refund. I also asked if sending my free trees with this order could eliminate any charges. They refused. I feel cheated so I wrote Mr.J. Menard but I guess he's to big to bother to reply.

Desired outcome: I want my FREE TREES free.

Menards Rebate not received

I purchased items to remodel our bathroom from tub to shower on October 17, 2020 for a total of $1, 948.70 plus sales taxes. I mailed the rebate form and receipt on October 20th and still have not received the $214.35 rebate yet. I can't find it on the International rebate site, but I received my little rebates before and after that month but not the big rebate amount. How do I get my rebate, its been several months now?

Desired outcome: resolve

Menards Bathtub

Had a bathroom remodel 5 1/2 years ago and found a crack in our tub. Have filed a warranty form to the Manufacturer but Menard's only says that's all I can do. Given the reviews on here. It appears that the manufacturer has a problem in their product line and doesn't seem to do much about it. Seems like there are enough of us with the same problem to draw up a class action suit.

Desired outcome: Replace bathtub and labor to remove and reinstall tub.

Menards Employee behavior

In the Terre Haute north menards My wife an I were discussing a chair and couch and I had pulled my mask down to talk to her. Nobody else was in the area, after a couple of minutes an employee by the elevator (probably 25 feet away) started yelling at us that I had to put my mask on NOW. I told him ok but he kept yelling NOW or I'm throwing you out! I finally said fine we'll leave and he kept on GET OUT! I told him I wanted his name and he told me he was John the hardware manager A Manager! After contacting the store manager she told me that I was breathing on the furniture so sorry and have a nice day. Unbelievable that a huge store chain allows this behavior to retirees. I am so sorry I have done business with this company for years only now to find out how they feel about customers

Desired outcome: I feel my wife is owed an apology, myself— i think my money will be spent elsewhere

Not exactly how it happened. A fellow employee and myself approached the elevator to bring furniture down for another guest when I saw you about 10 feet away. Not that distance matters, since masks are to be worn at all times while in the building. There’s a helpful 8 foot sign at the front door that informs you of this rule (it even has pictures just in case). I asked you to put your mask on as you were laying on one of my couches. You responded with “kiss my [censored]” and that’s when I said “now”. You did put it on but continued to mutter and run your mouth so I told you that if you take it off again you would have to leave (without raising my voice or changing my tone at all). You continued your fit as your wife lead you out of the store so you wouldn’t further embarrass her. You called back over your shoulder to ask for my name and I gave it to you along with my title. I’m not sure why you think that being retired makes you exempt from rules that everyone else has to follow, but now you know it does not.

Regards,

John Hardware Manager

Menards Mask policy

My husband and my 1 year old child and 4 year old were in the big rapids Michigan store location yesterday. As we were checking out we were reprimanded by the cashier. She told us our children could not be out of the cart without a mask on. My husband and I respectively had ours on but she rudely told me to put the kids in the cart or put a mask on them. My daughter is 18 months and it would be incredibly dangerous to strap a mask to her face, she would be unable to remove from her face if breathing became a problem. Mind you there is no one behind us in line and we are very mindful of social distancing ourselves. I feel as you are leaving the store the cashiers shouldn't be so combative about mask's on small children. We were told there's nothing we can do about it, it is your policy. Why would you have a policy where a 1 year old must wear a mask? And a 4 year old? Shouldn't that be the parents decision? So in order to follow the policy I put the children in the cart and left. I won't be back until this unsafe policy is changed.

Desired outcome: Change policy

Menards Mask policy

I'm writing today to express complete dissatisfaction with the treatment in your Sedalia, MO store today. Me, my husband and adult children walked into the store, first time in over 6 months because we are truck drivers, we were talking and laughing with each other. As we got to the turnstiles a worker approached demanding we put on masks. His attitude was unacceptable so my son told him we didn't see any sign because we just walked in and we're talking and didn't see any. He proceeded to be discourteous as he walked my son over to a sign at the door that says have to wear a mask. He was rude and what we consider a mask Nazi, someone who attacks instead of explains. We proceeded to tell him to get a manager. We did talk with the manager she was wonderful and courteous.

I just want to express my huge displeasure with your store forcing your employees to be the mask police. Not only does this cause friction with the public but it makes your employees and customers get angry with each other. This makes the experience at your store unpleasant and not one where people want to return to. Menards has become our favorite store and this today makes me want to go somewhere else. I don't appreciate being harassed by employees to wear a mask that affects my breathing and speaking ability. As an older person it also makes it extremely hard to hear and understand people. On top of this having health issues with lungs and breathing wearing a mask could be deadly, but I was told today a medical excuse is not allowed in your stores.

As a loyal customer I wish to encourage you to stop this horrible policy and get back to the kind and wonderful customer service we have enjoyed in the past. Forcing consumers and workers to become enemies is unacceptable and should have no place in a customer service environment.

Sincerely
Patricia

Desired outcome: Stop the mandate

Menards Don't bother with mail in rebates!!!

I sent in many rebates back in Oct of 2020 and after the 6 to 8 weeks. I never got anything. So, I called menards about my rebates and at that time they told me to contact Rebates International. Since menards them selves have nothing to do with the actual rebates and just in store business. To contact the Rebate International you have to send them a email and will not be contacted by phone.
It took them 3 weeks before they contacted me back but how ever told me the PO BOX number was 99 not 155 all menards locations. No matter what state you live in. That right their is miss leading and miss information to its customers. Menards needs to shut down all rebates until this issue(s) can be fixed with out going though a third channel/company to do its dirty work for them. False advertising laws state:
The FTC Act prohibits unfair or deceptive advertising in any medium. That is, advertising must tell the truth and not mislead consumers. A claim can be misleading if relevant information is left out or if the claim implies something that's not true.

I worked for menards, I quit after the first week, was making 13.64 an hour for part time, then they said after 3 weeks, part timers would go back to 9.85 an hour, I got a bill for 6.71 for a purchase I made, the purchase was the tools they give you to use, I got this bill the day after christmas, I had 5 days to pay it, which I paid it on 12/26/20, a big company like that and 6.71 might bankruptthem, so I told them I will never step foot in there store again, I will continue to shop at lowes, and home depot, menardsis not doing good in athens, ohio

Menards Customer service

Your customer service at the Menards in Celina Ohio is awful! I am a 49-year-old woman that had to load 17 boxes of hardwood flooring by myself. I know of at least four employees that walked by me and never once offered to help me. They were more worried about stocking shelves then helping me. After barely able to push the cart to the checkouts, out of breath because I DID HAVE MY MASK ON THE WHOLE TIME, the lady at checkouts greeted me with "your mask needs to be pulled up higher". Yes I know my mask needs to be up over my mouth and nose but she couldn't even greet me at first to ask if I was OK because I know I was red in the face, barely able to breathe or with a did you find everything OK or hi how are you, no it was you need to pull your mask up higher. I even walked by employees with their mask up but hold underneath her nose. If you would like customers to abide by the rules then you should also expect your employees to do the same. And maybe over $1100 isn't a lot to Menards for someone to spend there but it is a lot for my family and I really don't think it's a lot for me to ask for employees to offer to help and for the person checking you out to at least treat you like a human. I would've never gotten upset if she would've first asked me if I found everything OK or how was my day or even a high. She was more worried about a mask not covering my nose completely.

Menards Employees actions and masks

Walked in the store to get screws for metal roof. Walked past prob 20 employees that didn't say anything to me about a mask. Get to check out lady just looked at me didn't say anything for like 15 seconds then staten I can't help you. And why? I I said. She rang her little bell and just stood there the manager walked up and stood right next to me and stated she doesn't have to check you out. Not once have they said anything about a mask yet and I asked why is that. She said cuz u dont have a mask. So I said to her if your so worried about a mask how come you're standing so close to me and as I say that the cashier itches her face and nose and I said and if your so worried about a mask why u touching your face and nose after handling product that I was just holding. Of course no response manager walks away grabs a mask from diff isle and scans it for me to buy it says if you want your items put on a mask long story short menards is a joke and only reason I didn't walk out was because I had already been to home depot and they don't carry colored metal roof screws with the rubber grommet but best believe I will never shop at menards again they are rude and absolutely ridiculous.

Last night between 7:30 and 8:00 my wife and I were checking out at the check-out counter. We’re in need of carpet for a room and were looking for a selection that would match the existing carpet in our house. I’ve done lots of business with Menards in Grand Island and North Platte. We own property not only in Grand island but also in St. Paul, Loup City, Dannebrog, and Palmer. Here in Keith County, we own property in Paxton and three properties at Lake McConaughey. We’ve spent a lot of money at Menards doing facelifts, remodeling, and upkeep on these properties.

Last night at the check-out counter, my wife was pushing the cart, as I passed by her I said, “I’ll pay” and put my mask up to my face as I passed the check-out lady. I went to pay with my credit card, there was no one around me, NO ONE. One of your employees came out of nowhere and told me to put my mask on. I lifted it to my face. He commanded me to strap it to my head. I said, “I’ll just pay and be on my way”. He said, “No you won’t. It’s too late now for that” and began taking the items I had purchased out of the sack on the conveyor belt and putting them into a cart. My wife and I walked out of the store without the purchase.

This kind of oppressiveness will only end when the business begins to feel it in the pocketbook. I will not be silent about this. I’m involved in a number of groups and with farmers in the area who have concerns over this kind of heavy-handedness. I will use this experience in explaining the differing concepts of freedom and liberty as I share this story and explain to them that my business with Menards is over and encourage them to make the same decision.

I understand when I’m there I’m on private property, in a business that can make their own choices as to how they treat their customers. The forcefulness of my disobedience to your employee oozes with becoming the foundation for large corporations (like Menards) enacting draconian policies against their customers who are forced to do business with them.

It’s obvious my business is not important to you, you don’t want it, AND clearly you don’t need it. I will now do all my business with Mead Lumber or S.E. Smith and Sons Lumber in St. Paul where my business is important to them, they want it, and they clearly need it
