Menards - Employee behavior

In the Terre Haute north menards My wife an I were discussing a chair and couch and I had pulled my mask down to talk to her. Nobody else was in the area, after a couple of minutes an employee by the elevator (probably 25 feet away) started yelling at us that I had to put my mask on NOW. I told him ok but he kept yelling NOW or I'm throwing you out! I finally said fine we'll leave and he kept on GET OUT! I told him I wanted his name and he told me he was John the hardware manager A Manager! After contacting the store manager she told me that I was breathing on the furniture so sorry and have a nice day. Unbelievable that a huge store chain allows this behavior to retirees. I am so sorry I have done business with this company for years only now to find out how they feel about customers

Desired outcome: I feel my wife is owed an apology, myself— i think my money will be spent elsewhere

Not exactly how it happened. A fellow employee and myself approached the elevator to bring furniture down for another guest when I saw you about 10 feet away. Not that distance matters, since masks are to be worn at all times while in the building. There’s a helpful 8 foot sign at the front door that informs you of this rule (it even has pictures just in case). I asked you to put your mask on as you were laying on one of my couches. You responded with “kiss my [censored]” and that’s when I said “now”. You did put it on but continued to mutter and run your mouth so I told you that if you take it off again you would have to leave (without raising my voice or changing my tone at all). You continued your fit as your wife lead you out of the store so you wouldn’t further embarrass her. You called back over your shoulder to ask for my name and I gave it to you along with my title. I’m not sure why you think that being retired makes you exempt from rules that everyone else has to follow, but now you know it does not.

Regards,

John Hardware Manager
