SAFETY RECALL: DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS (DLR)
Mazda Recall #: 4320A NHTSA Recall #: 20V-063 Recall Date: 02/06/20
Recall Repair Status: Repair Completed
"Mazda strongly encourages customers with vehicles affected by a recall to bring their vehicles to an authorized Mazda Dealer as soon as possible. All safety recall repairs are made free of charge." Last Updated: June 26, 2023
I brought my Mazda in when this recall was first announced and they did a replacement of the gaskets to "fix" the problem. Well that "band-aid" repair failed and now both daytime running lights have failed. I would like both headlights replaced free of charge in accordance with their own statement above. They should have replaced the headlights when I first brought it in, and now Wellesley Mazda is saying the repair is outside of the recall period. It is only outside of the recall time because they did a half-assed repair to the headlights. Wellesley Mazda is now quoting me a price of $1,232.00 plus labor for EACH headlight.
Repair: Inspect the headlights and, if needed, replace each with an improved sealing gasket and attach desulfurizing materials (gas adsorption sheets) inside the headlight housing or if the headlights are inoperable, replace the headlight unit(s).
I can't believe Mazda won't stand behind their car when a known defect has caused the failure of the headlights. Please work with me on correcting this problem.
I have the same problem, as mine have failed again too. The NTSB said because it is a safety recall there is no expiration date. I've gotten Mazda USA to agree to replace mine.
