Mass Save did an energy audit in October 2021, and it was determined that the attic needed more insulation. So, the company came in and insulation material was blown in
Fast-forward to now...I have serious roof issues. I have water in the attic, and have had very bad leaks through the ceiling in the bedroom. My insurance company has been contacted and I am working with them to find a solution.
A roofing company came and did an inspection to see where exactly the water was getting through. He found that because the blown-in insulation was covering the soffit vents, there was absolutely no air circulation - for 4 years now! There was no way for the heat to vent out. Now the wood underneath the shingles is dried and warped, which has left gaps where water can come in. Also, the bathroom fan vent was never hooked back up again - so all that moisture added to the water problems. I now need a whole new roof!
Desired outcome: In the event that the insurance company denies my claim, I want reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses in connection with the roof replacement.
