It took 7 months to get our building finished. There is no one person in that is over your project so you get a different person each time. The salesman we were working with was not at the office when we made the appointment so we got conflicting amounts on what the building would cost. Lots of extra cost for door colors (1,000 which is there magic number) for each roll up door. They have a contract for you to sign that is 40 pages which we didn't expect. My advice is get the contract in advance. It mostly to make you responsible for everything they do wrong. It is of no protection to you only them. I was never told that I was the Contractor on record. I really didn't notice that until they got in to the delay mode where they put you off on the list they call the 7 week schedule. Once I started really reading the contract I saw where they can take 4 months from the date you get your permit to start to deliver the materials. That doesn't mean they will build it then. We had a lot of trouble in the start of this because the person designing our building was sending us the wrong design and details. Contacted Lee Mallett and he got with the designer and just made it really confusing. We got threats of how much we would lose if we tried to get out. They keep most of you deposit so that was a bad sign of how things were to come. They have this payment schedule that for us with the Cajun Oasis did not work with how they expected to be paid. When the building payment was due they did not have the electrical package, 5 ton AC unit installed as well as a good bit of panels taken taken off. During the concrete pour they demanded full payment of the project even though these items were not done. They told the Concrete contractor that they would not pay him so he confronted me and that did not go well. We were forced to pay the full amount that day with threats that they would not continue our project and fine us 50 dollars a day. We paid and extra 1,000for a 200 amp panel with disconnect that we did not need since we had to get our electrician to install one so we could have power to test the 5 ton unit. They would not refund us.
Recommendation: Get the contract in advance and understand that you may not have a building for 6 to 7 months. Once they got your money they will not let you out even when they are not doing their part.
