Rediculous rates and fees
Do not ever get involved with Liberty Power for your electric provider. They are a complete ripoff. They are charging me 8.88 per kilowatt hour and Penelec's rate is
6.86, which is alot cheaper if I would have never switched. They quoted me $908
for an early termination fee, which is more than any other company that I know of.
I wanted to put in solar panels and now I cant unless I pay this termination fee. The
other companies will give you an automatic drop under these circumstances but not
liberty. Everybody I know who is under contract with Liberty Power is paying far more
than any other company that I know of. Stay completely clear of these ripoff artists.
Harassment
Liberty Power has called my parents, keeping my dad on the line for an hour. I had to physically hang up the phone. I called Liberty back, advising them to cease and desist. Guess what, the same guy called back the next night, after 8: 30 pm. I have registered a complaint with Pura, and advised CL&P to keep info private. They are also on the Do Not Call List. Please do something with these people!

This company is a fkin scam it sucks big time
I am on a do not call list yet this electric supplier calls me daily. I spent time calling their customer care line and asked to be removed and yet they still call me EVERYDAY... HELP!
They can call as often as they want. The only way to stop the calls is to ask them to put you on the do not call list. This is the most deceptive company out there. They are making millions of money by slamming. lying and causing people headaches. I feel sorry for those that sign iu with them. There are so many complaints on the internet about them. Beware of this company they will harrass you until the end. DO not sign with them or you'll never be able to get out
Tell them this "type in your computer there that if one more person calls I will answer with an air horn blaster to their ear. Consider this as your warning. Did you type that in there? Yes? Good." Now if they call guess what you will do? Blast an air horn from a $ store into the phone.
They call about renewing your contract months in advance. We too are being harassed by them and no matter how many times you tell them to stop calling you, they change to a number that doesnt show on caller id and continue to call, trying to force you to renew your contract. THAT'S PURE HARASSMENT TACTICS.
Fraud, Illegal Use of Personal Information
On July 23, 2012. Liberty Power Corp sales representative Samira Siedge (Rep# 8013) approached my mother at her residence and offered to sign-up for a special program that would allow her to receive a discount to electricity bill. Siedge said that Liberty Power Corp is an affiliate of PECO Energy and provides a discounted program to the residents of Philadelphia county on behalf of PECO.
After I carefully reviewed the copy of the contract I realized that Liberty Power Corp is not affiliated with PECO Energy and that they signed up my mother for a much higher rate than PECO provides. I have chased Siedge down and asked her to return the account agreement and the PECO energy bill that she took from my mother. Siedge refused to return the account agreement even though the contract specifies that it can be cancelled within 3 days without a penalty.
When I asked her to return the account agreement again and said that I am going to call police she called her partner (black male, did not have identifying badge) who had threatened to physically injure me if I will attempt to call police. Then they both left the apartment complex.
I have immediately called Liberty Power Corp customer service line and notified them not to process this account. Their customer service representative said that my request was processed and gave me confirmation number: 1-[protected]. After researching customer complaints on the web, I am pretty sure that my request will not be processed.
I strongly advise you not to provide any information to Liberty Power Corp representatives. THIS IS FRAUD.
For those who already suffered from Liberty Power, we should collaborate to file a collective complaint and report Liberty Power to the appropriate regulatory bodies.

Cancellation
I just signed up a 1 year contract w. Liberty power. After one day, i want to cancel it. I called, one of rep. Told me that i can cancel it without any termination fee since the contract still not in effective. He transfer me to the cancel line, but one of rep. Told me that i need pay early termination fee, even the contract still not enter yet! Wow, what a bad company, they bind me up. They told me that in nj, even you just signed a contract after one minute, you need pay the cancellation fee. I told her, the sales rep. Is not state that the contract has early termination fee. I am very stupid signed the contract without read it. The liberty power doesn't care about it, just to bind you up, and charge you the cancellation fee. Beware of the liberty power sales rep.
Im pretty sure that NJ has a 3 Day Cancelation Period to Rescind on any contract that is signed. If its dated and signed and its within 3 days NJ 3 Day Rescinding Period Law will protect you from paying the early termination fee. It will be very helpfull if you contact the NJ Power Authority. They oversee all utility companies are following state laws and guidelines. They actually make and enforce the laws to protect you as a consumer of electric and gas.
Did you end up canceling it and how?
Not worth it, stay where you are
Companies I hope you are lucky enough to check out this company before signing on. They will lie thier way. Not worth it, stay where you are
Forgery
Sold me electric at a less expensive rate in a 2 year contract and it was actually more expensive. When I tried to change suppliers, they threatened a large fee, which obviously made it unwise to change. I stayed for the two year contract and then went to change and they called to say I signed a three year contract; which I did not. I asked for proff; they then wrote over the 24 month contract and forged in handwriting a 36 month contract.

when I first moved into the apartment I'm in my bf was here when they came to the door. I wasn't home. a man claiming to be from the electric company asked to see the bill and took down all MY account info off of it and asked for a signature to prove he was there. next thing I know my bf has a contract with liberty power on MY comed account( with none of his information on it). how is this even possible?! he lied about who he was, why he was here, and what he needed the signature for. now I tried to call liberty power to cancel because it's my bill and I didnt agree to or sign anything and the account was even put under someone else's name! they said too bad 2 years or $200. so I called the BBB. they couldn't do anything nor could comed. 3 almost 4 years later they are still on my bill. how you ask? they got my neighbor across the hall when she moved in and used her signature as mine to fraudulently create a new contract. my bills with comed were on average $50 cheaper before all of this unethical insanity. thru all of this I NEVER got a paper saying I signed up or a copy of the contract I signed. the only reason I know I got signed back up is the lovely email I have been getting from them the past few months. it has my bf name on it my building number but my neighbors apartment number attached to my comed bill! I asked her about it. around the same time I started getting emails they had pulled the same scam on her as they did my bf. I just want out and back to comed and more money in my pocket that should have been there the past 4 years anyway!
i just had a similar experience, the a guy came to my door talking as if he were from my electric company ComED, he tried to rush me to make a decision and kept asking to come in and see my bill, i refused and told that clown im not interested in your company as an supplier for my energy ans slam the door on him, i advise all others to do the same these people are scam artist using fear tactics to get you to sign with them so they can legally RIP YOU OFF.
This company is involved with deceptive marketing practices. Stay away from Liberty Power. They will ask for an arm and a leg to let you go. Do NOT sign with them. Call you local Public Servoce Commission if you suspect any fishy practices. They'll say they are from the local company to get in the door. Once in they don't get out (like roaches). Watch out for this company. You'll be sorry if you sign.
One of Liberty Power's reps came to my door when I first moved to NYC and he said he was with the power company (didnt say which one just said power company) and said there was a rebate on the back of my power bill that I hadn't claimed and then asked to see my bill. While he was looking at it he started copying down my name and address. At this point I became suspicious and told him to write VOID over my information which he did and then he left (I should have taken the paper from him...lesson learned) Anyway, a few weeks later I got a letter from Liberty Power thanking me for choosing them for their service (I never signed anything or signed up for their service) so I called CON ED and asked them to block them from ever doing this to me again. They did and everything seemed fine until today when I got a letter from Liberty saying I owe them $200 for an early termination fee. I called Liberty today and the person on the phone said they had a paper with a signature on it. So basically someone forged my signature and opened up an account for me (I'm assuming it was the rep who had come to my door) and now I have to wait for someone from management to call me so we can discuss this. Absolutely ridiculous.
They also forged my husbands signature after we told them we were moving and thus it didn't make any sense to change from IDT to have to pay a fee! BEWARE! THE ARE SCAMMERS!
Stay away
This is a branch office or franchise of a company based out of Ft, Lauderdale Florida that recruits manpower off of the internet with the inducement of an "hourly wage" to "network" with small business owners for them via telephone. Instead its a job dialing at-random as a cold calling telemarketer and you will be paid on a needs basis once or twice per month and the amount will be indiscriminate. At one point they may try to turn you into a door knocker and pay you on a rewards basis with no gas card, no mileage reimbursement, no support materials. They seem to have learned sales and marketing from listening to Howard Stern broadcasts because they give pep talks like they belong on Last Comic Standing. I kept expecting paper managers Jesse or Eric to yell "Ba-Ba-Booey" at the staff. My advice is to avoid contact with these unemployed car salesman both as a staffer and as a potential customer.
Beware
Liberty Power is an independent Electricity Supplier, serving the needs of tens of thousands of business customers in 12 states across the country where there is a choice of energy suppliers. This national coverage provides our customers with the benefits of a strong purchasing team and expertise in understanding the needs of a large base of business customers.
We are proud to help customers control their electricity rates by offering fixed rate plans that remove the volatility inherent in the energy market and protect customers from unexpected and unbudgeted electricity costs. In fact, electricity is the most volatile of all commodities – with market rates changing every second of the day. When electricity suppliers offer a fixed rate, it is based on market prices at a particular point in time. In order to guarantee the price for the contract term, suppliers pre- purchase the energy required by the account for the full term. In mitigating the risk of a market that can swing up and down constantly, Liberty Power helps business customers continue to do what they do best – serve their customers.
When we pre-purchase electricity, we make a commitment to the customer for the electricity they need for the term of their agreement, which is generally 1 to 3 years. If the customer chooses to end the agreement before the end of the term, there may be a fee for early termination. This will depend on when the customer exits the agreement, market prices at that point in time and whether Liberty Power incurs losses from that termination.
For more information on the volatility of the energy market, please see http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/steo/pub/
We hope this clarifies the concern for this issue. We are happy to answer any additional questions regarding early terminations. Please feel free to contact Liberty Power Customer Care at 1-866-POWER-[protected]).
Liberty Power
Aggressively knocking and ringing my doorbell I called the police. I live in a no soliciting area so they were already breaking rules. The cop told me that they work for ppl and I called him back and questioned him and then he said it’s a 3rd party Liberty Power. Deceptive and aggressive i don’t trust them.
I had 3 big men pounding at my door aggressively and ringing my doorbell aggressively. I called the police and they caught them(they were trespassing in a no soliciting zone which has a sign)liberty power seems like a dishonest deceptive scam company that uses aggression tactics and manipulation. The officer told me they work for PPL and I as PPL doesn’t solicit then I called the police office dept back and he told me then they are with liberty power. I don’t trust this company
My issue is i use to be a sales consultant with liberty power in Maryland. I was never correctly paid when i left the company. I was told i would recieve my payout 30 days after my last day. I recieved nothing after that 30 day period, my upline rep Leon Browne doesn't answer the phone nor return text.
Liberty Power called to give me a break on my electric bill but instead lied to me while trying to sign me up for the service. They pressure you into agreeing to the first set of statements and then switch you over to another rep to confirm your enrollment but clearly stated this is not an enrollment. Then when you state back to the second rep what the first statement you were quoted they pass you off to a third rep who refuses to be identified and would not give a straight answer. Please BE AWARE of this FALSE way of doing business. This is POOR way of attempting to steal your information through your Electric bill. Notify the Better Business Bureau and your current Electric Company. Do Not Fall for this on the verge of scam.
Liberty Power is definitely liars
They are liars

Stop knocking on my Damn door.
I've read about cold calls and "agents" ringing your doorbell. Well Liberty Power has ventured into the cyber era. I've received what appears to be phishing emails. First I received a "Welcome" email thanking me for choosing them. Then a week later receive another email which was an energy report for October usage... It's now the end of December, why would you welcome me, then send me October usage data? There seem to be some links in the second email which I have not clicked on for fear that either some malware will be secretly downloaded to my computer. I never transferred my service over to Liberty Power so I don't know what all this nonsense is. It is very annoying and it contributes to my other daily spam mail! How do I stop it without accidentally downloading spyware or malware?
Liberty power scammed into my business account and without my permission included my home account. They overcharged me by $100.00 per month on each account. Eversource is 6.6 per kilowatt and they charged .11.522 per kwh on each of my accounts..They harrassed me and I think they should be put out of business.
