My experience with Leak & Sons Funeral Home-Chicago was not good. Spencer Leak Jr. ordered things for my dad's funeral that I had already taken care of. I was told that only I could order things and get information, but he did it anyway. He was very arrogant about it and said he would do it again if he wanted to. He even asked me who I was going to tell because he's the owner. They were supposed to cut my dad's hair, but they only lined it up. I also never got a call saying he was ready for viewing before the visitation.

My dad passed away on March 30. I went to Leak and Sons on April 6 to make arrangements. I got a call from the hospital on Wednesday about my dad's remains, so I called them to see when they were going to pick him up. But everyone was gone for the day at 4:00pm. I called back on Thursday and once again was told everyone was gone for the day at 3:00pm. On Friday, my son called to find out when they were going to pick my dad up. When my son called, he also found out that insurance did not go through, but no one called us to tell us. So we had to find out what was wrong with the insurance. We called them back and told them what went wrong. They called me back and said I needed to come in on Saturday to redo the insurance. I asked to speak with Ms., but if I missed her, I was told to come back on Monday. I got there on Saturday to find out she doesn't work on weekends. I spoke with *** and found out they went to the wrong hospital to pick up my father, and for him to be buried at the *** had not been completed. So *** called them back just to find out they had approved him on Thursday. The director told me he would call me on Wednesday or Thursday if he got approved, but I never got a call. *** said he would give me an affidavit. They had my father on April 16. I called him, we talked, and he told me to call back the next day, and he would have everything ready for me. I called him back, but he never answered the phone nor did he call back. Then I was informed I needed to pay the *** off by Spencer Leak Jr. Since then, I haven't been able to talk to anyone about the *** because I can't afford the rest of the money. But I still can't get the affidavit. I've been trying to get it since April, and it's June. No help, not even from their lawyer. He also told me I have to pay the *** in full. He said he runs the department, but Ms. who does the affidavit was not at work. So I need to call Ms. on Monday. If he tells her to give it to me, she will, but I still have to pay the *** in full. This has been a very horrible experience for me from beginning until now. They said on their page that they work with families within their budget, but that's not true with me. I informed Spencer Leak Jr. I am having problems paying the ***. He told me to pay the $800 I have already and pay the rest later. He's not going to send the people after me. So to me, that means I am never going to get what I need to close out my father's bank account because I don't know what he has in his account to pay that ***. I already wrote him an email about everything I've been going through, but still no help. I don't know what else to do or who to talk to. Three months, this is so awful.

I had to use Leak & Sons Funeral Home for my dad's funeral last month. It was a tough time for me and my family, but the funeral home made it a bit easier. However, there were some issues that I had to deal with. My dad's body had a strong odor and there were fluids leaking out of the back of his head. On the day of the funeral, they had to change the pillow and put Pine-Sol around the coffin to mask the smell. I reached out to the funeral home to let them know about the issue, but they haven't responded or apologized yet. Overall, the funeral home did a decent job, but the odor issue was a major problem.

I went to Leak & Sons Funeral Home to arrange my mother's cremation after she passed away from breast cancer on October 14. We were told that her ashes would be ready for pickup on October 26. However, my aunt, who was not listed on the legal documents, went to the funeral home and was given information about my mother's body that she should not have been given. When I called to ask them not to release any more information, they agreed. But then my aunt called and was told that my mother's body would not be ready until October 29, and they gave her personal information about my business. This is illegal, and I am considering a lawsuit. I wanted to share my story because I see that others have had issues with Leak & Sons Funeral Home. They also did not inform us that my mother's body had to be relocated to Villa Park until I complained to the owner. I am now questioning if the cremation is actually my mother's body.
