Karls Technology Bad for business!!

They came out to my stepdads 3 different times for his security system. And they were not able to achieve anything. He paid 2 invoices equaling over $450. On the third time they came out, they told him they would not charge him because they were not able to do anything. Now they’re wanting him to spend over $600, when they absolutely nothing, and then they sent him to credit collection! When they did absolutely nothing, and achieved nothing. They are not efficient, they are not effective. They are not people of integrity or character. I would not recommend this company for computer repair, not even to my dog! Worthless. This company ripped him off over $600.

Karls Technology German was very nice young man and excellent technician

German was very nice young man and excellent technician. He explained that the virus/hacking problem I was having was a common scam perpetrated on the elderly and most likely there was nothing to worry about. I told him I shut off my machine after being warned not to because I was threatened from almost everything including taking my next new born...I'm 78. What impressed me right off the bat was that he gave that useful info PRIOR to even touching my machine. I might have thanked him, gave him lunch money and shown him out. Because he was so honest I asked him to go through the machine and more or less clean up any other problems, which he did. My only problem was he did not have any business cards so I could use you folks again, talk up your company to my friends, or have something concrete to refer him and his skills to other people or other companies looking for talented people. I'm afraid my only problem is a management issue. But thank you

I was very impressed with the overall work completed, I had a few issues with getting into my PC and that was resolved in a matter of minutes. A virus sweep was done as well as putting up new protection. I couldn't be more happy. A big shout out to *** who conducted himself professionally and came right to my address, he was hands on from the moment he started working and even taught me a whole bunch going forward. Thank you Hollywood computer repairs, I will definitely be giving you a call in the future and would recommend you to anyone in the area.Kindest regards Sheldan

(***) and *** (JOH) were very friendly and knowledgeable. They tried several problem-solving techniques and although they were not able to fix my main issue, no fault of their own, they showed me a few workarounds and made sure my laptop was up to date on everything else.

Karls Technology This company sent a technician out to install a hard drive into my laptop

This company sent a technician out to install a hard drive into my laptop. The appointment was made, and it was explained that the service fee was $125.00 then I would be billed thereafter in increments of 15 mins until the work is complete. The technician came out, informed me that I needed a certain type of hard drive, which he did not have on hand, but I could order from Amazon. Then I was told, I would have to pay $125.00 today, and $125,00 when the tech comes out again. It was not explained to me that it would cost an additional $125.00 for him to return and install. I then asked to speak to the manager, where I asked him to consider charging me a 15 minute charge, for the techs time today, and then $125. 00, when the tech comes out to install next day. He rudely refused., and told me I could go somewhere else. Customer *** from the company manager was nil, cocky and offered no consideration. Worse customer *** ever! Does not deserve one star.

Karls Technology I contacted this company, explained that I needed assistance with getting data off of very old computers

I contacted this company, explained that I needed assistance with getting data off of very old computers. They rescheduled the appointment twice. The tech that showed up had never seen a floppy disk let alone could fix it. He came in with NO equipment, asked if I had another computer he could use to do the work and proceed to break another old computer that I had. I later found out he should have used his laptop and called for help through the company. They charge by the hour. The guy couldn't have moved slower. I had to help him figure out what he was doing. When I called the company to have them fix the computer he broke, they were happy to do it BUT they have rescheduled 5 times now each with a different tech and a different person calling to do so. There is no one you can contact if you have a problem, it's just another person that will tell you they will reschedule and never come. Not only bad customer ***, but their employees don't have the necessary knowledge to complete a job.

S saved my bacon! For the first time ever on my MacBook Pro, I was getting "out of memory" errors, I could not get my work done, and the speed was like a turtle. *** knew exactly what to do and now I'm back to normal. Don't know what happened, but he explained it's possible because my hard drive had less than 100GB it could be the problem. I moved a lot of stuff off the hard drive as well and everything is running good.

Karls Technology I wish that there was something less than one star

I wish that there was something less than one star. This company doesn't even deserve one star. I wish that I had read these reviews before booking them to solve a charging problem I was having with my laptop last Sept. There are only two reasons that a battery will not charge, either a bad battery or a bad power supply. The techs that came told me that there was not a problem with either of these. The laptop did charge for them while they were here. They would not tell me what they did to make that happen. I kept asking them questions as to what they were doing and the only answer I got was "many things". It appeared to me that they were just killing time so they could charge me for the full hour and a quarter. The laptop is not charging. I talked to them today about their so-called "guarantee" and I was informed that the guarantee only was for "about" a month. I have learned a valuable lesson - check the ComplaintsBoard.com before engaging a company for the first time if I don't know anything about them. I would not recommend this company.

Karls Technology An "engineer" came to the house and spent two hours trying to resolve no 2 screen video

An "engineer" came to the house and spent two hours trying to resolve no 2 screen video. Finally got one screen to display in safe mode, and was warned to never turn the computer off or video would be gone forever. No programs would operate except for browsers. Called another technician with another company and within two hours has solved all problems. The main lapse of Karl's technology was failure to run SCF/Scannow which identified and fixed corrupted system files. The new guy also updated the BIOS to the latest version, updated security, verified all HP drivers were up-to-date, and eliminated two instances of true malware, and deleted 4077 malware pieces. In short the new technician fixed my computer problems, where Karl's did not, nor gave any suggestion on any next steps. The new technician said any reputable computer company would give a full refund; Karl's agreed to refund half, which covered the cost of the new technician. Do not recommend using Karll's or any of their other names, such as Chandler Computer Service or Computer Repair Service.

Karls Technology My laptop stopped working while my husband was away for a military deployment

My laptop stopped working while my husband was away for a military deployment. I called for someone to come see if they could fix it, and I was charged $375 for 3 hours of work on my laptop, which the tech ended up being unable to fix. I told the tech that if he didn't think it was fixable, I wanted to stop at 1 hour. He kept going saying he thought he was pretty sure he could get it working, he wanted to try a few different things. I stressed repeatedly that I didn't want to spend too much and then still have to buy a new laptop anyway. If he can't fix it, I wanted to cut my losses. I had to buy a new laptop after spending that much trying to get it fixed. Fast forward to my husband coming home from his military deployment, he googled some things and had my old laptop up and running in less than an hour. Why was my husband, WHO IS NOT PAID TO FIX COMPUTERS, able to fix it in less than an hour when the company we are paying $125 an hour doesn't have a clue how to fix it? My husband called and explained to someone on the phone, asking for a partial refund for the two hours we paid for that, it should not have even taken had they sent out someone capable of doing the job. He was told they were putting in a request for a refund, which we still have not received or heard anything back in months. Don't trust this business, it's super shady.

Karls Technology On October 25 I contacted Karl's online to set an appointment to transfer my files to a new computer

On October 25 I contacted Karl's online to set an appointment to transfer my files to a new computer. I was told their schedule was wide open and I could pick any time the day of the appointment and I scheduled for 12:00. I was further told the technician would call to confirm when he was enroute. I was very clear with the two people who called me to discuss the appointment that I had a busy schedule and set the appointment for "12:00 sharp" (my words) and that was the time we confirmed. The technician assigned (Levi) was a no show/no call so I called the company at 12:15 and again at 12:45 and was told he was coming. I subsequently cancelled the appointment. I immediately received an email telling of a "same day cancellation fee". Important to note, I never signed a contract, or a service agreement and a cancellation fee was never discussed. Harassing emails followed and a month after the original appointment was scheduled, I received a letter from a collection agency. If there is further harassment, I will report Karl’s to the ***, ComplaintsBoard.com and arrange for my SEO contractor to broadly post the events I describe above. I will also report *** A dishonest company--avoid.

Giving this company a 1 star review is only because it is the absolute minimum that you can give somebody who's service is pathetic. To begin with, the company misrepresents itself claiming to be the "Geek Squad" on the internet. When you google "Geek Squad" their name appears at the top of the list. They do not identify as not being agents of the "Geek Squad" at any time. They bring inferior equipment to transfer data off your computer that is slower than a turtle and therefore they sit there and charge you by the hour as it takes two hours to transfer data which should be done on professional equipment that would only take a few minutes. The kid working on my computer was a recent high school graduate with little to no real experience in computer repair. As it turns out, their repair person took all my documents out of folders and it is going to take me weeks to find all the documents and reorganize all of my files again. All documents should have been left in their folders but they weren't. A total disaster. This was a very simple fix that needed to be done quickly which I didn't have the time to do or I would have done it myself. This company is not only incompetent but but when I contacted them and told them I was going to contact my credit card company to withhold payment, their first response was that they would put this in for collection against my credit. This company is totally unprofessional and I would highly recommend you find an alternative to these people.

I used Karl's Technology in Lakewood, CO (DBA as Lakewood Computer Repair Service). That website claims 292 reviews but you are only able to see five, 5-star reviews for an average of 4.9. The website claims "computer engineers" come to your houses. The guy that tried to address constant blue screen shut downs (mostly memory management issues--but others as well--all MS issues) on my laptop simply downloaded a free version of malwarebytes. There were NO viruses and all removed malware was unrelated to this corrupted Windows OS. He did no high level problem solving or inquiry. When I asked the service guy about his aspirations, he said he would have to go to school to work in the IT department of some company. Sure didn't sound like he was a "computer engineer". The blue screen problem returned rather quickly but when I called I was told I missed the "two week" guarantee. I never received so much as an invoice much less an advisement of a limited warranty. They did not return my call. When I finally reached someone, I was told that someone from the help desk would call. No one ever called. This company is heavy on false claims to the point of false advertising. (During a recent email/chat exchange they claimed they would send an "engineer" but repeatedly refused to offer information on any credentials or certifications. They also refused to provide additional reviews. Avoid this company at all costs as it is a scam targeting folks short on computer knowledge and desperate to get their machine back up and running.

I have two complaints about this company, firstly they present themselves as a local business showing cute pictures of a seemly local man with his child in arms. "Tucker Computer Repair" that's in Tucker, Ga. I decided to go with the company for that reason, supporting a local resident. It's all a big lie the company is a national company, saying whatever they need to say to get business. I'm not a lawyer but to me that's very misleading and should be criminal, they obviously have something to hid! The main reason other than them being liars that I'm complaining is the lack of questioning for the appointment. I have an older Mac desktop that crashed and was needing to get some files off of the hard drive. Ok simple enough I'm guessing they seemed to think so as well. As soon as the rep came to my office and heard the words clicking he said the hard drive is gone and nothing he can do, pay me $125 please. My question to him was why didn't the person on the phone just ask me that question! Well the answer to that is $$$, no come out no get paid. That was the reason i wanted to work with someone local so to avoid those type of things. I'm willing to pay for service but $125 per 30 seconds is a bit absurd. I'm a business owner and something like that would never happen ever. Keep your business above board and great customer *** and no need to deceive people into buy your product. Too Bad there are companies that feel to deceive you for a couple of dollars. They won't get anymore of mine that's for sure.

Karls Technology In contacting ****'s my expectation was straightforward

In contacting ***'s my expectation was straightforward. Dispatch someone to synchronize Outlook and Gmail on a Windows 10 platform. A ***'s FE arrived. He spent an hour and a half at my residence. He looked at the Gmail documentation I had printed out. He did what I had previously tried to do - check and verify Outlook POP settings and work with ***'s POP configuration page. He tried contacting the ***'s Help Desk but was unable to obtain assistance or guidance to no avail. At the end of an hour and a half of mutual frustration he essentially threw up his hands and said "It's a *** problem and I can't fix it" - that will be $190. ***'s technician did not fix the problem. Since that time - 9/24/22 - I have been in contact with various ***'s personnel. It is Now 10/12/22 and I am no closer to achieving resolution of this problem. ***'s will not respond to my Emails. ***'s internet literature describes itself as a "family owned business" "focused on service and quality, all our work is guaranteed" one that "can fix all of your computer repair and computer service problems". That hasn't been my experience. During my discussions with ***'s representatives I was informed that they will dispatch another technician to work on the issue but there would be additional charges assessed. I believe this to be unreasonable. I have asked to speak with someone other than the ***'s Helpdesk representatives, to no avail. At this time ***'s has stopped communicating with me on this issue. In short, the service received by me on this issue does not reflect well on ***'s as a reliable provider of technical services. As a result, in good conscience, I cannot recommend selecting ***'s as a dependable repair service offering.

I gave 1 star because 0 isn't available. I allege Karl's Technology are scammers. I required a replacement SSD due to mine being close to full. My computer is just over a year old and has NEVER been opened. Made an appointment and in due course a technician (Wyatt) arrived. He spent an hour dismantling my laptop and then advised the SSD he had brought was the wrong type. No problem. He supplied a link for me to purchase one on Amazon. He insisted on putting the laptop back together. Charged me $125 and did not supply a receipt. We arranged another appointment. Fast forward, he turned up again and spent nearly 3 hours 'fixing' it, electing to leave the original SSD in place alongside the new one too, having originally removed it. Charged me $280. In light of what follows, I blocked that check. Soon apparent that he had caused more problems: - One fan started to run noisy and unit got hot - No sound Took unit to another vendor (locally) and they reloaded the drivers that the technician neglected to do. They did not disassemble the computer but slackened a case screw to stop noisy fan (it didn't). Took computer to another company and they found: - Old SSD had been taped in place since screw went missing so was not secured - Fan was misaligned because the board in which it was mounted was not correctly re-installed - Drivers were still missing The last company fixed everything and the computer runs well. Neither Wyatt nor Karl's Technology has replied to any query nor responded to the fact I stopped the check for $280. I suspect they will send a collection agency in. Karl's Technology is not a professional company and I wish I had read the reviews before contracting them. Quite simply, they do not know what they are doing. Do not touch them.

NEVER NEVER NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY!THEY ARE:DISHONEST UNPROFESSIONAL UNRELIABLE UNDEPENDABLE UNETHICAL UNPRINCIPLED INCOMPETANT UNTRAINED IRRESPONSIBLE RECKLASS This company takes advantage of customers and damaged my computer to the point that it was unfixable. To have the tech saying, "I realized I am damaging your screen more, but thats okay you are getting a new one". As he cracks my screen even more that it was when he got there. The I ordered over $500 worth of parts only as the tech came out to tell me I had ordered the wrong parts and that he could glue my computer together but could not guarantee that it would be fixed. They made multiple appointments with me, cancelled on a whim and did not even tell me until I called to confirm appt. I lost so much money by cancelling clients. To abuse customers during this very difficult time for all of us is incomprehensible and they did it multiple times. I would wait for 4 hours, clear my schedule, losing very precious income only to have them tell me at 7:00PM that they would not be there, that they ran out of time. They exaggerate what is wrong with your computer telling you it will take hours when it is a simple fix. "THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE'. They send what they call technicians out to you that have to "read the directions as to how to fix your computer" all the time using up the very expensive time you are paying for. Then the company argues with you and turns it around to gaslight you and tell you "it was your fault".We are all struggling enough right now but to have a company exploit you, lie to you and abuse you is not acceptable and I lost over $500 in my dealings with *** Technology and now I am out all that money and my computer my brand new lap top is "unfixable" and has been for the last 6 months that this has gone on.NEVER NEVER NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY AS YOU WILL BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY UNETHICAL PEOPLE AND BUSINESS PRACTICES.My rating of this company does not even deserve a "1" as they take advantage of us all during this very difficult time in life.

After spilling a drink on my brand new MacBook Pro I called Karls Technology to see if there was any possible way they could help. After explaining the computer that I had, and the possible liquid damage that occurred, the company booked a tech named Alex to come out and repair my computer. Upon arrival the first thing that Alex had me do was sign a waiver that basically stated that Karls could not be held liable for any damages that they cause. I even asked what would happen if Alex dropped my computer and the screen shattered. I was told that would be my problem, they are not responsible for any damages ... Wow! Figuring there was a good chance my computer was beyond repair any way, I signed the waiver. Alex then started working on my computer. Now this company bills at an hourly rate. An hour into the visit, Alex still did not even have the back of the computer open! He was struggling with one suction cup, making excuses about the clips not releasing because he did not have the correct tools. I had to eventually YouTube the appropriate way to open the computer. That was at least the waste of an hour and $125. But at least the computer was open! At this point Alex started disassembling all the internal components. It was obvious that he was not overly familiar with Mac when he told he disconnected the power and the computer was still able to turn itself back on. But he was able to eventually get everything apart and find the corrosion that was causing so many issues. He cleaned everything up and began to reassemble my computer. It was at this point that I heard oops! Alex had broken the fan assembly for my computer while trying to reinstall it. Now the fan assembly was not damaged in any way prior to Alex removing it and reinstalling it. I knew it and he knew it. He stated that he would source the part and return to install it at no cost. I ended up having to purchase the fan assembly, but Alex did ensure that I purchased the correct one. He informed me that I could still use my computer because there were two fans, and that I should call Karls when the part came in. The part took about 10 days to ship in, and once it was here I started calling Karls to book an appointment. After a week of phone tag, an appointment was booked for a week later. Alex showed up at my home to replace the fan. Now we had agreed that this was going to be done at no additional cost, he had broken it. He sat down to replace the fan and an hour and half later he was done. At this point he stood up and said "well management decided I need to charge you for the replacement." What? We agreed this was at no charge, and if this changed shouldn't you have mentioned it before sitting down to repair the computer? His response was you signed the waiver, you owe the money ... A real gem of a company that stands behind their word! Overall yes my computer was repaired. But if you break a customers computer in a way that it was not previously broken, and then promise that you will be back at no charge to replace the broken part, you should not blindside the customer by charging for your mistake. Disappointing working with people that are liars and cheats.

On Feb. 20, at around 12 noon, I set up a meeting with Karls Technology to fix my computer. We agreed to meet between 3 and 5 PM to check out my computer. They charged me $125 for the visit. Right after I hung up the phone, I found another company that could look at it right away. Since I was leaving *** the next day, I made an appointment with them instead. I called ***'s to cancel and they said I had to pay a $125 cancellation fee. I thought that was too much since they hadn't done anything yet. I asked to talk to a supervisor and called back 3 more times. Every time, they said they would get back to me. Since then, I keep getting bills from Karls and now they want $187.

Karls Technology August 23, 2022

August 23, 2022. I called to make an appointment for them to come diagnose my computer. The agent on the phone said the consultation would be free. This is the reason I chose them. The technician then came by and said my computer needed a new screen and charged me $129 for this diagnosis. I felt like an idiot because I was told it would be free on the phone. Of course I paid it because the technician had nothing to do with the phone conversation. Today I finally spoke with a manager to dispute the charge. He offered no help and kept saying there is nothing we can do, saying I had no proof that I was told this on the phone. As a company that specializes in phone interactions, they should be recording their phone conversations for quality control. They could determine if I was told this. The manager seemed to think I was absurd in requesting my money back. This is not how a business should be run. They need to be investigated for unfairness and misleading consumers. Thank you for your efforts and consideration in this matter. $129 is a lot for money for my family right now.

Karls Technology I'm really disappointed with my experience with Karls Technology

I'm really disappointed with my experience with Karls Technology. I called a local repair shop, Gulfport Computer Repair, and they connected me to a tech. I explained that I needed a Windows reinstall but was busy and nervous about losing my data. I just wanted a professional to handle it for me. They said they could do it over the phone to save me the trip fee, and if it didn't work, they would come to my house. I called a local phone number, but it turns out the person I spoke to was actually in Las Vegas. It was very misleading. This person wasted an hour of my time on the phone without fixing anything or reinstalling Windows. I knew that was the only solution. At the end of the call, I found out that they knew nothing about coming to my house, and I was told to call the store to schedule an appointment. I hung up and ended up reinstalling Windows myself by searching on Google. It was surprisingly easy. I don't understand why they didn't just do it for me. To make matters worse, I received a bill for $125 for an hour of service and an additional $68 for an "invoice fee." I was never informed about this fee, and I didn't agree to it. I feel like I've been cheated. They kept me on the phone for an hour without doing the reinstall I wanted, and then added more charges. I feel really cheated.

Computer technician (***) came to my house from Karls Technology on 9/29 to clean up my computers, 2 *** They charged me $250 for a little over an hour and said if I had any problems after, just call and they'd fix it. But starting on 10/15, I started getting popups on my laptop that weren't there before. So from 10/18 to 10/22, I called every day asking for the technician to call me and help me fix it. But even though Karls Technology said he would call, he never did. They even said if he needed to, he'd come back for free as long as it didn't take longer than the first visit. So I made an appointment for the technician to come on Tuesday (10/26) between 10am and 1pm. But on 10/26, they called me at around 11am saying the technician was sick and couldn't come. So we rescheduled for the next day, Wednesday (10/27), same time. But yesterday (10/27), around 10:30am, they called and said the technician couldn't come unless I agreed to pay because it was more than 2 weeks since his first visit. I told the caller *** that I was never told about any 2-week policy. So now I want my $250 back or the free visit they promised. It seems suspicious that the technician didn't call me for a whole week. Yesterday, someone named *** told me the technician tried to call me last week but couldn't reach me or leave a voicemail. That seems like a cover-up to me.
