July 8th Briefly:

Hired Jay’s Quality Landscape to remove and replace arborvitae bushes which were old but a natural barrier. He wanted cash up front. He didn’t take credit cards or checks…said he had issues with banks. Gave him the money for the entire job. Pulled out part of the bushes and left all of the roots. Put in 10 bushes and wanted more money to continue planting bushes to achieve the natural barrier look. Gave him more money for 13 bushes because he’s said we needed 13 more bushes to achieve the natural barrier look. He planted 10 bushes and never returned to finish the job. The few times I was able to reach him he had a multitude of excuses as to why he couldn’t complete the job. Two of the bushes that he planted have died…in less than a month. He told me there was a warranty on all of the bushes and I have since found out that there is not. They have to be replaced at an additional cost.

Additionally, he signed a contract with me to remove the ivy around the old bushes and took money for that. When I asked him when he was going to pull out the ivy he told me wasn’t going to because he wouldn’t make enough money on the deal. He no longer returns texts or phone calls.

Since this incident, he has been barred from advertising on Angie’s List.

I have had to hire another company to clean up the job that he started, replace the dying bushes, replant the bushes correctly so the rest won’t die, add more bushes than what he had quoted to achieve the look desired and complete the job. This does not include the ivy removal. The cost of doing all this has been well over $3,000.

My advice is to avoid doing business with this company. He provides a lot of excuses, is quite good at taking the money but fails to do the job.

Desired outcome: Yelp can’t get my money back for me. The courts will have to do that
