Hardest working roofing crew EVER !
Not only fast and efficient but very attentive to detail. Wore me out watching them. Had to tend to some details that were not in their purview but accommodated last minute chimney demolition versus flashing. Also added vent stack that required boot. Raul C was helpful in communicating my requests and also clarified the contract limitations.
Only area that I think was questionable was not adding one nail to existing sheathing boards prior to plywood. Cheap insurance in mind.

Excellent all around. They came out to replace our roof, which had been seriously botched by another roofer just two months prior. They did a wonderful job of letting us know all of the issues with the roof that they came across and how they were going to remedy them. We feel very secure in that we now have a properly installed roof that will hold up over the long term. Very professional and friendly people. They were here about 12+ hours getting it done. We won't be using anyone else but them to work on our roof, in the future.

Jason and his crew of about ten installed a new roof on our 9000 sq ft home-- over New Years!--amazing to watch (and hear) the well-organized, hard-working team work safely, quickly and considerately to cope with logistical challenges, complete the work and clean up the mess, all in just two days. J. Smegal Contracting is down to earth and easy to work with--no gold chains, glitzy overhead and technoblather marketing-- and produces high quality work on time and on budget. The J Smegal teams did excellent work, were professional, efficient, and friendly. John and his roofing team got the whole job done in a single day, and it looks amazing. Mike and Sarah not only got the gutters done quickly, they even were able to do a few extra things I decided to add on, all in one visit. I'm very pleased with every interaction I've had with J Smegal. Jane and Lisa in the office were always helpful and professional. Thank you to all the teams that worked together to make this the easiest and best home improvement project I've ever done.

J Smegal Contracting and crew were completely satisfactory throughout our entire roof job. J Smegal maintained clear, open communication with us as the job progressed. He showed us pictures of problem areas on the roof, and reviewed the modest additional cost of plywood to make the necessary corrections. He displayed comfortable relations with the crew as he responded to questions and accompanied them in to accept our offer of use of the bathroom. The end result is a neat new roof, clean yard, and our confidence that should any problem arise in the future that this company will stand behind their word to take care of it.

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THE TIME OUT TO THANK JAY AND HIS CREW FOR AN OUTSTANDING JOB DONE ON MY ROOF. THE PROJECT WAS SCHEDULED FOR A THURSDAY, BUT HAD TO RESCHEDULE DUE TO RAIN. JAY ASKED TO WORK THROUGH THE WEEKEND TO GET IT DONE. HIS CREW SHOWED UP ON SATURDAY MORNING AND WENT TO TOWN ON IT. GETTING MORE THAN HALF DONE, WOW! IS AN UNDERSTATMENT, MY HOUSE IS 5000 SQ. FT. SUNDAY MORNING THEY CAME BACK AND HAD IT WRAPPED UP BY 3:30. MY PROPERTY WAS CLEANED UP SPOTLESS. COULDN'T FIND A SINGLE ROOFING NAIL ON THE GROUND. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND J SMEGAL CONTRACTING. Every one I dealt with at J Smegal Contracting is a true professional. The estimator showed up as scheduled and answered all my questions regarding replacing my roof. The project started within the time frame stated in the contract. The foreman and his crew were very meticulous and thorough, it was amazing watching them in action. They pointed out a section of the roof that I did not realized was damaged and repaired that section. Jason Smegal, owner of the company, stopped by a couple times to see how the project was going. Jason also stopped by as the crew was cleaning up to check the new roof and my satisfaction. Finished in one day as promised, the new roof looks great. I highly recommend this company.

Very pleased with the J Smegal roofing crew. The entire team is made up with hard workers that get the job done efficiently. There are no wasted steps and the crew is very skilled in their line of work. They are quiet, well mannered and respectful of the property. Crews consist of skilled workers in carpentry, roofing, chimney flashing, etc. Plus each worker assists others when needed, no separation of duties were observed. Any type of issue that comes up, the crew leader effectively comes up with a solution and the work continues to flow. Cleanup is quite impressive. Even at the end of a tough day, the crew takes their time to ensure a very thorough cleanup has been accomplished.

Office staff is also very good. Keeps the customer informed with emails, phone calls etc.

I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am at how the roof has turned out so far. I did my research, and it was clear that you and your staff's standards, knowledge and experience deliver a superior result, one that will perform well for years to come. You explained to me how the Klaus Roofing System involves superior components, and an extra layer of the best waterproofing materials available. This was not a simple job, but your foremen were responsive to my questions and concerns, and up to the task. In particular, the insulation part of this job added a layer of complexity, which was well handled by everyone. The insulation company you introduced me to, the very able Brendan Smith of Dr. Energy Saver, convinced me that while the roof was open, we should insulate the remaining roof areas, including knee walls and small attic spaces. I never would have thought of that. It is now clear to me if that if absent or inadequate, new insulation should be part of any roof repair. I feel confident that I now have a roof and home that is more energy efficient, and less prone to moisture buildup, and leaks. Thanks for leading me to this great outcome!
I'll be getting back in touch with you in a few years, when the rest of the roof will be due for repair.
