I agree with Shari, another reviewer for this collection agency. They sent multiple bills with different numbers. I paid already, but they reported me to the credit bureaus and lowered my credit score. They refused to remove the derogatory remark from my credit even after I paid in full, which was paid over two years ago. I have had several bills I have already paid off and closed calling and harassing me and threatening legal action, hence lowering my credit score every month. We're in the same position with this company. We're trying to buy a house and are cleaning up our credit to do so. We had one bill sent to us back in April. We shortly paid the bill for the amount of $83.98 on April 16th. We have had derogatory remarks for a whole year after this initial bill was paid. We had not received any other correspondence to pay another bill that we had no knowledge was outstanding. If we had knowledge of another bill that needed to be paid, we would have paid it back in April like we did before. Tammy was the representative that we spoke to, and she was difficult to work with. She kept saying that only if we paid the bill, then wrote a letter of hardship and sent it to them that they may or may not remove the missed payments on our credit score that accrued over a year. We challenged her, asking why we should have our credit damaged for a bill we never got and follow-up phone calls that never were made to us on behalf of the unknown account for $91.42. She then stated we have a problem with our post office, and she couldn't help us, and we needed to call the post office. This company is another robber baron type company using strong-arm techniques to get money from us and damage our credit until they feel like they want to work with us. I am following up this email to the company's email listed. We're trying to pay our debts, and to have these types of companies out there badgering and bullying us to make payments without guaranteeing that they will help us back in return is just bad business. Now that this company has forced me to write these letters, which I really don't have the time to do but have to in order to buy a home for my family, I am going to follow up on this as long as it takes, as many times as it takes, and let as many people know what a bad company this is. I hope the ComplaintsBoard.com can help me with this request. We're trying to do the right thing and are up against unreasonable people.

This biz never gave me they license number when I asked for it. I don't feel they licensed to collect debt in Cali and should release my debt. I attached a letter to end the collection of this debt until Grant Mercantile can send me proof of this debt but they never sent me a letter.

I got a credit report last September and saw that I owed Grant Mercantile Agency, Inc. some money. But I never did any business with them, never talked to them, never got any emails or letters or phone calls from them. I looked them up and they seem like a sketchy collection agency. I don't know how they got on my credit report. It's really messing up my credit score and I want to know why I owe them and how to get rid of them. Can you help me out? Thanks.

I had a problem with GRANT MERCAN Collection Agency because of a medical claim from EYE Q VISION CARE. I talked to someone in the company and sent my medical information to settle the claim. But the front desk at the eye doctors didn't put it in the system, so I was sent to collections. I sent all the documents through the mail and asked them to sign me stating they received the information. But they still refuse to take it off my credit report, even though it has my medical information. This has messed up my credit and I can't get a loan from my bank to buy a car. I need the car to take my son, who is on the spectrum, back and forth to his doctors' appointments and therapies. I really need this taken off my credit report.

I got a heart attack and went to IU Arnett hospital in Lafayette by Prompt ambulance service on Dec 27, 2017. But when I checked my credit on June 07, I saw a derogatory mark for a collection company called Grant Mercantile Agency for 2157.00. I never got any bill, phone call, or letter from Prompt Ambulance or Grant Collection agency. They never filed the claim with my insurance. Neither me nor my insurance got a fair chance to address the bill. I gave the right information to IU Hospital, and they had no problem contacting me or my health insurance by phone and mail. Prompt ambulance went out of business, and IndianaHealth took over their operations. But no one from IndianaHealth or Grant is willing to help me resolve this issue. They only want me to pay in full. Prompt (IndianaHealth) admits that they couldn't contact me and had the wrong information (address and phone number). I'm being penalized for the break in communication between the two. I didn't even get a fair chance to address the bill, and even after I contacted them, I still don't get a chance. The services were rendered, and charges apply. That's what I get. Prompt Ambulance picked me up at my home, but they couldn't look back on the records or call the hospital to find out that information. They should take an extra step before sending an innocent person to collection who didn't have the opportunity to address the bill. My insurance would have paid this bill, and my deductible had been met at this date of service. I'm not denying services were rendered, but I'm disputing the collection action, communication failure, absolutely no correspondence, and insurance not billed, which results in an adverse action to my credit report. I find this 3 YEARS LATER.
