Service truck Repairs

I am the fleet manager for Canadian Linen Ottawa Ontario Canada. I sent my truck there late december 2019 for a battery going dead overnight. It was diagnosed needing a fuel pump (?) They needed to order a test tool to varify the fuel pump issue. It was a battery draw I wanted repaired. After about 20 hour of diagnostics they said the no start problem was repaired. A $4000.00 bill was presented to me with a note stating that the truck was repaired. I paid the bill, went into the yard and the truck was dead. They said they could give me a boos, but the truck was not starting. That was the middle of February. They kept it for 2 more weeks telling me I needed a flex pipe for the exhaust. I told them to fix the no start problem. They wanted to continue charging me for a repair that was paid for already. After that I was told the truckwas repaired. I picked it up in the afternoon late February, and needed to boost it the next morning. In the meantime they send another ivoice for diagnostics and a PO# request. They cancelled the bill and my truck will not start today. I sent it for a no start, paid $4000.00, and now need to bost it every morning. The quality of service and staff was beyond terrible. I have been in the industry for many years as manager and technician. After a few phone calls that I had to make to the service advisors and the service manager my trust was lost. The service manager told me it needed to be plugged in. I spent al that money for that kind of answer?

[Resolved] Transmission cooler

We have 2016 freightliner firetruck purchased from toyne firetrucks in iowa. it has maybe 1500 miles on it. not sure on exact mileage because dash was replaced. truck has 235 miles on this dash. the truck acted up at a fire and threw a code saying transmission error. I contacted frieghtliner in columbia missouri could not get them to come to fire station and check truck, so I got inland trucks out of columbia to check truck. they said there was a problem in the transmission. I contacted frieghtliner again and they told me to get a allison transmission dealer. so I contacted clarke power in wentzville missouri and had it towed there. they was very nice to work with. they got truck right in and found out transmissions cooler had felled and filled transmissions full of coolant. clarke power contacted frieghtliner and told them the problem. got them estimate to fix. frieghtliner contacted them and said they was'nt going to fix it because 2 yr warranty was up. did offer to give $5000 towards the repair. total bill was almost 15, 000 plus a wrecker bill and a bill from inland to tell us what was wrong. are fire board agreed that we had to fix it and get truck back in service to protect are citizens on howard county fire district. are board are not really happy about things are worried are other two 2016 freightliners may do the same thing. we cant believe freightliner will not totally stand behind parts that are less then 2000 miles old. I wish the president of freightliner would call me and explain way it is like that. I can totally understand if the truck had 100, 000 miles on it, but it has less then 2000 miles. i'm going put my contact information on here if someone would like to help us. scotty shiflett (board president of howard county fire district). we are located in fayette missouri. my cell number is [protected]. email is [protected]@cm-as.com we did fix the truck and got it back in service, but it hurt are budget pretty good. hope to hear from someone. thank you.

We took the truck into freightliner trucks. we needed to change the transmission and have ordered a warranty. but in the end we checked the papers and found out that the company wanted to get from us larger sum than they previously told us. the company refused to comment about the situation and told to pay or we wouldn’t get the truck back. do you have the same problems with this company?

rack and pinion

I have two freightliner cascadia and the rack and pinions are crap. there has been a recall on them but even when replaced they are failing and its a fight to get freightliner to do anything. recently I have had a second one fail and the response I am getting is that its within tolerances. wonderful, ecept my driver refuse to drive it because it pulls to the ditch.. maybe thats what needs to happen. an accident showing that freightliner is negligent. whatever the outcome thetire bills and repair bills are "racking" up. its only a matter of time before someone gets killed... I contacted freightliner and the response I got was that they would be the mediator between myself and the dealership. big deal.. I can't getthe dealership to even call me back.. will be yanking the truck and filing suit aganist the dealership for excessive charges that have resolved nothing!!!

avoid freightliner smart shift transmission!

Sold heavily by the company, the smart shift technology has not been perfected. I purchased 3 m2's in feb. 2007 with the technology and all are having problems. what's worse, is that the electronics are so complicated the service techs can't fix them. they try to get instructions from mercedes (maker of smart shift) but it appears the troubleshooting is either unclear or "over their heads". both dealerships in orlando and tampa can't fix the problem.

I'm 13 days in the shop with no results on a new vehicle. don't make the same mistake.

We bought 4 trucks with the same type transmission and 3 of them have gone out now and all have been around 200, 000 miles. This seems like more than just a simple coincident.

1999 Dutch Star RV on Freightliner chassis in for service. I was charged 17 [email protected]$115.00/hr for computer search for problem that they were not able to find or fix and made problem worse. Bill was $2, 795.95 with no results other than new alternator and batteries. Their computer work caused more problems and I had to take it to Puckett Cat. for additional work to resolve problems with electronics. The service tech. at Empire was blowing off the parking area with a back pack blower. If he is a qualified tech. he should be doing tech. jobs. There were several truck drivers that were getting very poor service and long delays for parts. One driver with Poly Trucks helped another RV owner get a belt that Empire did not have and saved him an extra 2 day wait. Do you see a problem with this shop? I sure as hell do.

We have a 2007 M2-106 with an MBE Auto-shift transmission. We've had constant problems with jerking with it since we bought it. They did the computer reprogramming several times. It would act right for a short while and revert back to jerking. The truck now has 205, 000 miles on it. We are full-time RVers and use it to haul our fifth wheel. Two weeks ago the transmission mal-functioned and wouldn't release the torque of the engine when coming to a stop. We called the nearest Freightliner Service location which was the dealership in Pharr, Texas. They told us they would take a look at it but they would not work on it. When we asked where we could take it, they told us they didn't know. We called the Freightliner dealership in Corpus Christi where we had work done before and they told us they would work on it. We limped it into Corpus Christ which is about 150 miles and made it. They have now had the truck for two weeks and we are no where yet. They replaced the clutch but now it won't go into reverse. They had the clutch replaced last Friday and they tried replacing the computer and it didn't make a difference. Where do we turn??

warning to truck owners thinking of purchasing a freightliner m2!

I purchased a freightliner m2 with a 22’ box and sleeper from alumi-bunk in feb. 2006.
With in a week of me driving the truck. I was in the hospital with one third of my back injured. I don’t know what the problem is with the design of the truck I am only a driver. the problem could be the freightliner truck not being able to handle over the road use. brook park freightliner of ohio sold the chassis to alumi-bunk. I have been told my freightliner repair shops that the chassis is for a dump truck design. maybe brook park should not have sold this truck to alumi-bunk as an over the road truck. the seats that were installed in the freightliner came from bostrom t-910 model. I have come to find out now these seats are a good around the town seat.

Drivers this combination of truck, chassis, and seat will not protect you on the open road. this truck is a career ender.

I have driven International 4300s and Freightliner M2 106s. The Freightliner is by far a better OTR truck. I think it is very comfortable, and handles well over the road.

You obviously have not driven an M2 106 with an auto-shift transmission. We have a 2007 M2-106 with an MBE Auto-shift transmission. We have had nothing but jerking since we bought our 2007 new. We've had constant problems with jerking with it since we bought it. They did the computer reprogramming several times. It would act right for a short while and revert back to jerking. They had the clutch replaced last Friday and they tried replacing the computer and it didn't make a difference. We'd like to know what to do and who to turn to about this problem.
