We have had a foremost for about 3 years. within that 3 years our policy tripled. from 3200 the first year, 5000 last year and 11000 this year. I was informed by the Commissioner of Securities in MT that insurance companies can merely request the amount they want to increase (without an explanation) for their insurance policies and without delay the Commissioner of Securities approves it. We have never filed a claim and we live in the suburbs of a small town of 6k people, our property taxes went down. my house payment was going to more then double WTH.. We did find another insurance company which actually offered more coverage and they were 4800 per month.
But how can this be legal, This happens to people everyday, those who are on fixed incomes, especially the elderly, could end up losing their home. Do insurance companies realize that homeowners are the backbone of their companies! Sorry just venting. Greed is overwhelming and to you that use this insurance company, Caveat emptor (buyer beware).
Recommendation: Look for different homeowners insurance, there are less expensive companies that offer better coverage
